Looking for some advice, about to buy either a Fuji X100, X-E1 with 16-50mm or a Ricoh GR.

I have used the X100 before and loved it. I can get the X-E1 with 16-50mm the cheapest, the X100 and GR about the same.

Can anyone comment on the image quality between the 3? Especially interested in how the X-E1 compares to the X100. Is the quality the same or would one have an advantage?

Thanks.

dhlt25 : Really like the top pic. Looks like a nice place!

I own the XE-1 and a few lenses, the 16-50mm being one of them. I can't compare it to the other cameras but if you'd like some example photos, just PM me.

I've recently posted a photo but with the 23mm 1.4. It demonstrates the camera's capability.

I replaced my 5D II + lenses with a Fuji X-T1, 14mm, 23mm and 56mm, because Kids and no room for all the glass.

Oh my good I love that thing and the lenses are awesome. No regrets here.

Great stuff as usual, GAF

Been a while since I've posted anything but here are some of my recent shots around Valley of Fire and Grand Canyon. I have a friend who is a Pilot and was lucky enough to get a couple nice aerial shots.

I really wish I had gone to visit the Grand Canyon while I was stationed in Colorado. Ah well, eventually I'll end up getting sent back to the States and I'll do it then. This shot is awesome and just goes to show you don't need a crazy expensive camera to get good shots. Any post processing?

So when are we switching to a new thread? The 1st? I'm new to this lol. How do you get featured in the OP?

If no one has any objections, I would gladly make a new thread on New Year's Day, 2015. Since we're now so close to finishing up 2014, I don't see much point rocking a new thread for just two days!

To get into the OP, well, I manually go through the previous thread and pick my picks! I would do pretty much the same thing for the 2015 thread I reckon (but maybe for the whole year instead), I'd also take submissions via PM in order to speed things along.

How does that sound?

So I've got a guy who wants to buy my a5000, but I'm slightly concerned about it being a scam. He wants to pay by cashier check, but states that he is fine waiting for it to clear. I want to be cautiously optimistic, so how can I let this go through while making sure I don't get ripped?

What I've seen to do is take the check, and look up the associated bank (not just using the phone number on the check) and ask them if its legit or not, using the numbers on the back. If it is legit, by word of the issuing bank, does that mean Im clear? Or is there some way that he could "cancel" the check after I've cashed it?

Bought my new lens! It'll arrive in the mail on Friday. Sony e-mount 50mm f1.8. VERY excited to play with it.

Sounds good, I was debating starting a photoGAF best of 2014 thread myself where we post the three best pictures other users have posted in 2014.

I have a huge backlog of photos to work through, and haven't really done much. Here's some that I edited awhile ago and never uploaded.

From our Vancouver trip.
Love these.

I like how has an old film noir feel to the picture and the contrast of the white cat at the bottom and the dark one at the top with the glowing eyes is a nice touch too.

Thank you.

The light today was stunning.

Didn't think much of this shot at first, but I was looking through the past few days' photos when messing with some filters and it's grown on me a lot.

Newbie alert. Got a new camera and have been reading thoroughly on photography and cameras in general over the past month. Feels good to finally get one in my hand and I feel like I know at least the very basics.

Tonight I started dabbing into Lightroom since I have the camera as well. Just wanted to post a before and after. This was just the camera using auto settings but saving out a RAW and editing it in LR. EXIF is there for anyone to see.

I know it isn't much but I'm damn proud ;P

Lightroom makes a world of difference for me. I never thought it'd be this essential.

I already posted the last one, but I loved it too much in color not to repost lol. Prior to this it was black and white. I think I like it a bit better this way.
