Even if she was under 18, they should be allowed to do that. DoA appeals to Japanese culture first and foremost, you don't have to like or understand it.

Nah, I'm pretty sure they want that overseas money as well. This is not some obscure, unlocalized visual novel.

They did do that before with Kasumi and Ayane before aging them up with the rest of the cast (originally 17 and 16 respectively). They just specified their ages as N/A for Western releases.

I remember DOA2H had them in their 20s. I don't understand why fighting devs are so afraid to show a grey hair on their characters, thank god MKX is showing age in all its beauty.

That is a ridiculously generic character design.

It's a quintessential example of a focus group character design.

Let me get straight: I am not a pervert. I'm just a little bit curious.
What is her pantsu, guys?

Anw, she looks kind of generic imo. Side-tail, school uniform, big boobs... This design is so mainstream that can be found in any anime.

Didn't understand the hate Lucky Chloe got. Also, tons of people love Sakura and Karin, and that would fall under this archetype.
Sakura and Karin where introduced years ago, I imagine that if they never existed and where introduced as new characters in SFV they would get the same hate thanks to the internet. I also don't understand the Lucky Chloe hate, even less the comparison of Lucky Chloe and Marie Rose people keep talking about.

Their core audience overseas isn't canceling their preorders because a character looks too young. The ones complaining are a vocal minority of evangelists who seem to get offended by everything, not fans.

Hey just think

Either of these new characters could have been Virtua Fighter's Kage.

You know, a ninja character who would go great fighting against the DOA ninja characters.

But that's smart and effort and when you have to churn out a new character you might as well go the lazy route and just make girl in school uniform.

Really? At least this one appears to have a new moveset which implies more testing and job than just importing an existing character and moveset =/

---

Now I just going to wait for CAPCOM to reveal the new character which obviously will be Ryu's little sister =P

Yeah, Tekken Fanbase was weird on that one. You're probably right about Sak/Karin. And I wouldn't have a problem with marie rose in another game, it's when you start putting her in bathing suits that I have an issue.

No, pretty sure it was the same N/A deal instead of using their real ages back then as well (even as of DoA5, neither are in their 20s). That said, most fighting game developers are averse to aging their characters too greatly. Concerns of marketability likely have much to do with that, particularly among Japanese developers.

Well, let's see what happened to Soul Calibur... Cut characters, cut characters everywhere.

The thing that makes that worse is the fact that not only does pretty much everyone who did return for SCV look the same, but the choice of a 17-year time skip was admitted by the director to be completely arbitrary (the fact that he picked such a huge leap just because rather than for any particular reason is staggeringly ridiculous).

Looks like a good character pick to me. I like Marie Rose more though cuz she looks like the offspring of Lili Rochefort it's not possible but it still looks cool

Wait, the 17 years wasn't for Sophitia's kids to be fit for fighting? I think SC just tries to push the story element of the game a little too much. Here in DOA, it's just a tournament where the winner doesn't matter and bad guy Doatec is doing experiments.

Who was cut that's really missed?

It's not arbitrary if you look at who was actually cut/replaced. The previous games made SC just about boobs and SCV moved away from that which was a good thing, and why people still don't take DOA seriously.

Just every Korean and dark skinned character...but, who cares about them, AMIRYTE?

That's sorta the point. Sakura and Karin were designed nearly TWENTY YEARS AGO. Lucky Chloe was JUST created. The fact that you're trying to compare her to such old characters and say "see, they're the same!"...sums up the Lucky Chloe angst perfectly. BLAND and TIRED.

Lol, clearly you did not see the SC5 Japanese ad campaign that zoomed in graciously on Ivy's breasts. SC5 is plenty about boobs. The entire series never shied away from fan service...even Soul Blade. Not criticizing, just stating a fact.

You serious?

Setsuka, Zasalamel, Yun Seong, Hwang, Seung-Mina, Talim, Taki, Sophitia...Just off the top of my head.

I approve Team Ninja keep on keeping on. If they actually listened to the tumblr and twitter-verse their games wouldn't be half interesting.

Enjoying the outrage frenzy over a fictional character. Stick to doing what you want to, Team Ninja!

That aside, seems pretty unoriginal - she's going to need a spectacularly different style to stand out in any way in the current roster.

They were the least popular characters in the game.

cutting Seung-Mina hurts...

Seung-Mina has been an after thought ever since Kilik was added in SC1.

Setsuka, Taki, and Sophitia's playstyle are still in the game. Hwang was cut in SC4. Yun Seong and Seung-Mina weren't popular. Zasalamel and Talim didn't fit into the game with the changes that were made to the game engine.

Taki's playstyle was sure...but that thing wasnt Taki

also Zasalamel needs to be back because he wields a Scythe, AKA the most badass weapon ever

I didnt even like playing as him much, but I made so many custom Zas based characters just for the scythe
