New Pokkén Tournament gameplay trailer

How does that equate to an argument against what I said about worrying that the simple mechanics in Pokken might lead to inbalance? If anything you proved my point by bringing up Gundam since it needs ratios to be even slightly balanced.

Again, Im not convinced that will be the case, I want to see more of the game but I am worried.

This isnt some anime license "fighting" game for funsies, this is being directed by haruda and being location tested, stop worrying about balance this early in the game's development.

As a casual Tekken and Pokemon player (as in, I have played a few entries but by no means have much loyalty to either series)... this looks pretty awesome.

The fact that the footage so far is grainy reminds me of watching shitty compressed trailers from E3s like 15 years ago. Almost makes this feel not real, since there are some games that were only EVER that to me (Mother 3 on N64, Zelda tech demo at Space World).

In all honesty, I'd be in for a more extensive roster. If this were ever to come to the Wii U though, I'm pretty sure it'd do well. It's exactly the type of fighter the console is completely devoid of.

Pikachu looks so dumb.

Not caring much for the Pokemon they've added so far. I would've preferred more underground Fighting types, or at least more "fisticuffs" styled Pokemon. Instead we get everyone's favorite electric rodent; Pikachu, Suicune (what?), and a disturbingly humanly animated Gardevoir (does that thing seriously hold its dress down when falling? That's a bit too humanoid for comfort).

I hope they don't continue in this direction of added in these unfitting Pokemon in a fighting game. They just don't look right at all.

Also, Pikachu looks so dumb.

Would prefer is the game was Field Phase only, maybe with some kind of Z-target mechanism. Pokemon using multiple combos in close range doesn´t feel like a proper Pokemon Fight to me. Would love if they explored more of the "passive" attacks, like Double Team, Swords Dance, Leech Seed, Thunder Wave, Reflect. Wonder how these are going to be implemented.

I disagree with your general sentiment, but agree that it's a bit boring to have Gardevoir and Pikachu there.

But they were both to be expected, Suicine is a fantastic choice.

The less bipedal "fisticuff" types, the better, imo. Would be boring if it's just all fighting type pokemon.

Did not expect to see playable Suicune lol.

Will be a dork and main Pikachu like I always do in Smash Bros.

Not much else, I can add, I am very glad its not on a 2D plane, I mean its made by Harada so thinking it was on a 2D plane is silly but, I did. Looks like Naruto Ninja Storm games so that's cool. Looking forward to that arcade release and more people playing it.

Finally get to play pokemon games exactly like to look in the cartoons! Looks great! :)

Closest thing we are going to ever get looks like. Hope its successful.

Also people complaining about Suicune, not every character has to be bipedal and humanoid ya know. There are various games where you can play a dog as a fighting game character for example. My question is why Suicune of all Pokemon is the thing. I wasn't aware it was even that popular.

You don't play many fighting games do you?
Tons of fighting games have "crazy" characters/archetypes.
Stuff like Suicune is not very ridiculous.

Those fighting games aren't based on an IP that literally has a "Fighting-type" trope. A few oddities are to be expected, but I hope this doesn't set the tone for the entire roster.

Harada already said they want to go all out and not make it into a fighting type only, full evo only, bipedal only game.

Besides, the gameplay itself lends more to various mons than just fighting types.

It should be primarily bipedal, fisticuffs styled Pokemon. It's a fighting game. The occasional quadruped or cutesy, small Pokemon is fine, but there's no valid reason why they should take up the majority or even 50% of the roster. There just shouldn't be an abundance of those kinds of Pokemon in a game like this. I feel that Suicune is too much of a random throw-in. But this is just my opinion, so meh.

Suicune and Pikachu are extremely surprising (Suicune for its quadrupedal stance, Pikachu for his size) and open the doors for a lot of different Pokemon few expected.

IT'S SO CUTE AND FUZZY AND IT'S NOT THAT RIDICULOUS CONSIDERING THE OTHER CHARACTERS

Why? This isn't a traditional fighting game.

You should check out my idea where Galvantula is carrying a bunch of Joltik on its back because it's a mother :3

Its a POKEMON game. Limiting it to just fighting type pokemon makes it boring as hell. I want them to be creative with the characters and movesets.

I don't know where I stand in this discussion. On one hand, I want the fighting type Pokemon to get a chance to shine. If anything, this is their game to standout. It's a cool type, and there are plenty of cool Pokemon there to show off. But at the same time, there are tons of cool Pokemon to show off. I think I want like half and half.

Some characters I'd really like to see next:
Primeape
Hitmonlee
Hitmonchan
Gengar
Mewtwo
Heracross
Breloom
Scizor
Tyranitar
Garchomp
Scizor
Gyarados (Hard to see this making visual sense though; he'd have to float or crawl)
Metagross
Terrakion

I really hope it does. Bar a few exceptions, the Fighting-type in Pokemon is really nothing special or offers much in the way of spectacle, and those few exceptions are the ones I'd expect to be included in the first place. Arbitrarily limiting character types to 'fighting Pokemon' does nothing but hold back the inherent uniqueness and potential diversity of a Pokemon fighter in the first place if the differences aren't much more than aesthetic. It's not a fighting game with Pokemon in it, it's a Pokemon fighting game. Having the majority of the roster represented by things that just do various punch and kick things strikes me as an incredible waste.

I would much prefer to see Scizor or Dragonite or Bisharp in this game than Sawk, or Throh, or Primeape.

Pangoro, Heracros, Hawlucha, and Mienfoo should definitely be there though

They said they wouldn't be bounded to it just being a bipedal type pokemon or fighting types. Its a Pokemon game with a fighting game system on top of it that is similar to Naruto.

Get over it.

You don't have greninja :(

Once again, I never said it should be ONLY Fighting type Pokemon. Just primarily Fighting type Pokemon.

Lol, chill out, I believe I have the right to express my opinions as well as not share the same one as you. I'm not going to "get over it".

If they're going to include random crap like Suicune, I hope they go completely bonkers and add Exeggutor, Kingler, and Electrode.

Let's be real: One thing all respectable gaffers can agree on is that it is a mercy they did not yet choose to represent quadrupedal pokemon by selecting one of the Ponyfuckers, especially considering it'd have probably been Keldeo, the most hideous of the lot. Thank you, Mr. Harada, sir.

To be fair, everything from before sounded as if they were already prepping us for the notion of incorporating non-bipeds (re: no high-low-mid to worry about). Not having to be concerned with that would already make it easier for them to incorporate almost any PKMN they wish.

...Having said that, however?

I'm honestly in the camp that would rather not see Charizard or Greninja in this game, and I'm hoping they'll continue to go with more interesting picks that don't get seen as much. Lucario and Pikachu are one thing, since one's the effective poster boy for fighting types and the other is the series' mascot itself. But part of the reason I was so enthralled with seeing Machamp, of all characters, get it in was because it was nice to see characters beyond the usual/safe picks that are guaranteed to get into most spin-offs/Smash Bros., anyway.

And besides, if Blaziken is likely to get in based on that old teaser, I can't imagine too many of the same "type" getting in. At least, not for the first game in the series.

I'm selfishly happy it's not like Tekken with specials and Pokemon skins. I don't have much fun with Tekken.

Will keep a whether eye out. It's a dead certainty to hit the Wii U eventually.

Is that the vomit pokémon? Which generation is that abomination from?
Garbodor is garbage wearing a trash bag as a luchador mask.

Which is why it's amazing.

(Though really, I just want any Poison type. It's tied with Bug as my favorite type. Weezing is my favorite Poison type, but good luck getting that to work in a fighting game)

Watch Da Birdie

I buy cakes for myself on my birthday it's not weird lots of people do it I bet
There's still hope for Lumineon...just, like, let it float.

This would please me to no end, you can't even begin to imagine.

I would main Kingler so hard all fucking day long.

Exeggutor would be pretty neat as well, throwing off its heads as projectiles.

Keldeo came out before FIM and it's the only horse on the group, the others are various hoofed animals.

I'd like to see Toxicroak in the game, myself.

At least Keldeo is a partial Fighting-type. I would have much rather had that than Suicune, the blandest of the legendary beasts. What a weird comment.

I want Galvantula, hopefully Pikachu being electric doesn't exclude it. Though I have a feeling the bug type will be Scyther/Scizor or Heracross.
