Project Cars 1080p on PS4 - 900p on Xbox One. 60fps on both.

I might get it on PC and XB1 just to see how it compares.

I do think it is quite amazing to hit 60fps with the huge field and graphics, but I will be intrigued to see if Physics and/or AI suffer as a result, but I'll wait and see, youtube compressed video's looked pretty terrible, but I can already see it's got the graphics nailed!

gt6 was running at 1440x1080 on the ps3, as far as i remember. polyphony will be fine. they are on a world of their own, as they have always been. they just do their thing.

Hmm, yeah i remember GT6 doing somethings that GT5 did not do... but somehow the end product wasn't as visually pleasing to me as GT5 was, playing them back to back... i don't know why though. But yeah... hopefully i'm proven wrong by PD.

Why is it sarcasm, what's wrong with his post?

Nothing. There's just a cross-section of PS4 gamers who like to scoff at any mention of DX12 because they like to pretend that people still believe it'll skyrocket XO's performance to match PS4's.

"DAT MS PR", "secret sauce" and whatnot.

It's ammo for a joke long since told.

Can you blame them?, with MS's history of lying trough their teeth?, you can't blame people for being skeptical of any statements from MS's camp. And about there being people out there that truly believe that DX12 will be a gargantuan advancement for XBO's tech capabilities... well they ARE out there.

The only thing I believe DX12 will do for Xbox One is allow devs to code down to the metal. It's not going to make the hardware any better, and it's not suddenly going to make Xbox One games look as good as PS4 games.

But really, allowing the devs to get the most of the hardware that's in there should be the takeaway.

Where are they? I haven't seen those people in a long time on Gaf. All I see are people that repeat the same joke over and over again.

They are out there indeed, they pop up every so often, it is true they have lessened after repeated lessons in how software can not give what the hardware does not have.

Right?

But hey, gotta keep the narrative going, or be forced to come up with something new.

Eh, i can't be bothered to look up examples (much less on my tablet) but i've seen a few members as recently as a month or so ago, who did seem to believe such things... perhaps they were joking though...

Honestly, it's getting harder and harder to tell who's joking and who's not.

I won't doubt that there's a few people out there who haven't got the message about the reality of DX12. But it's definitely far from the epidemic that it once was.

Yeah, both of you are correct.

Waiting for digital foundry then ..

wouldn´t be the first time that 1080p on PS4 trades off framerate which is more stable on X1´s 900p ...

For a car game a locked 60 is a must (IMHO)

Eh.

That's not too common.

I can think of COD AW SP.
GTA was patched and now PS4 is on top.
Dying Light, BF4, and Evolve still had a better framerate and a resolution advantage.

will the cloud have any real benefits or the new windows? I browse a few other gaming sites from time to time and DX12, the cloud and some type of new windows is the narrative I am usually hearing from pro xbox guys.

Because the people interested in the console version already know which versions they can play and don't need anybody telling them this or that?

Seriously. This resolution gate is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen in gaming. Right now there're systems running 12k resolutions and people are fighting over 180 lines just to prove how superior their system is? It's laughable, to say the least.

So it's safe to say you will be playing at 12k then I guess?
Moving along I'd rather play on my TV's native res

GT6 cockpit view in 1080p was a mess. I hope their next outing can better hold to 60fps but I see that as more of a priority issue than a tech issue.

I don't know how Slightly Mad is pulling off what they're doing here, but hot damn I want more of it.

looks great, i'm liking the performance in that vid linked above^

looking forward to this... pretty sure i'll buy it at this point

DX12 will definitely have gaming benefits for gaming on Windows 10 over older OS's like Windows 8 and lower. Again, it'll allow developers to squeeze every last drop out of the graphical hardware that it supports, it won't make hardware more powerful.

As far as the cloud goes, that's all up in the air as we've yet to see any real benefits of it. Hopefully with Crackdown 3 we'll see something.

If a third party can make such appealing graphics at 60fps with that many cars, my expectations from Polyphony is through the roofs.

Also, 3. Controller preference over resolution... amiright? :p

I find the DS4 better with PCars. I find the XB1 controller sticks range of movement too tight and so I find myself oversteering etc. I'm sure I could tune it out by playing with the controller settings in game but as I have a DS4 I just use that.

To be fair though this is the PC version. I'm sure the XB1 version has been tuned to match its controller.

TAJ

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
I don't think there is even a single GPU that can run a game at 4K and 60fps at the moment.

Depends on the game. The last two games I played were 4K/60 maxed on a single GTX 970, The Lego Movie and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. There are older games that I can run at 8K/60. Then there's something like AC:Unity where I get dips to 17fps at 4K with all features maxed and FXAA, worse with other AA.

That 40+ car race is amazing. Looking forward to trying it out on pc and get some use out of my Driving Force GT.

That reminds me of my own logitech driving force GT which I used for my PS3. Now I can't.

Once you experience a proper force feedback wheel, you can't go back. But there's absolutely 0 Ps4 compatible wheels at logitech GT's price point with its features. I hope some bright chinese engineer manages to dish out a dongle for that.

Eh, I reckon I'll still pick it up on the Bone. I just much prefer the controller for racers. If Logitech support had made it in, I'd have grabbed it on PS4. Ah well, slightly reduced IQ won't bother me too much.

Yeah, and it runs like shit. Fine if you like screen tearing and variable framerate, mind.

Yup, and highlights very well the foolishness of looking at one or two numbers to sum up a game.

People getting so caught up in these things are just ruining their own experience.

That couldn't possibly be because last gen we had smaller differences lauded as being almost game breaking for PS3 owners by the "media" but now that the performance delta is larger and switched sides, it doesn't matter anymore, right?

Nah. Probably not. That has nothing to do with it.

180 lines? Try 633,600 pixels. You do realise that's nearly a 50% jump in resolution right? That's pretty huge to me.

perfect trade off if needed, 900->1080p, on a racing game especially, is a lesser evil. Now 30->60fps is absolute key!

So GT6 on ps3 has higher res than PCars on xbone, huh?
and it has hundreds of PS2 cars and the PCars on xbone has none. beat that, teh bone.
