March 2015 NPD (U.S. Hardware) Predictions - Closes April 14th

Your point was that steamspy collects more data/numbers. But actually SuperData cover a wider market and say they collect more.

As to whether either are accurate is up for debate. But they both use hard data in most of their calculations.

What kind of data they collect to know digital sales of a game? Hardware makers and publishers are not giving information for them, so I don't understand how you can debate accuracy against numbers based on Steam Web API.

Superdata try to cover all market but I can't see how they may have a minimal accuracy. Not even big companies like NPD and GFK tracks digital sales of each game.

Sony spent their entire wad on Star Wars this go around?

Either way I'm imagining Destiny level hype + Star wars movie hype - $$$$$$$$$$ for all involved

Coupled with a potential price drop this year + Black Friday. It could be scary

Well I mean there is MGS, Batman and the eventual Destiny comet e3 announcement with Sony probably

Sony had ACIV the year before and with how stuffed MS's lineup is this year, Ubisoft might want to side with Sony this time. And I can see Rainbow Six going to Sony, too. One indication could be that the official site and press releases always mention "PS4, Xbox One and PC" in that order while it's "Xbox One, PS4, PC" for The Division.
well the alpha videos( not the previews that sites were playing) were using Xbox control schemes and buttons. But who knows

Price Cut
Batman marketing + SKU's
MGSV Marketing + SKUs
Battlefront Marketing + SKUs
Persona 5 / No Mans Sky / Ratchet and Clank over the holidays along with the third party stuff

With all the games hitting over the summer and fall I don't think sales will drop all that much during the summer " drought " ( which won't be much of a drought really ).

They did 18.5 last year. With standard YTY increases WW and all of the above mentioned. Could be a big year.

Maybe 25 is a bit much. But I'm in the 22-23 camp at this point. Think they will be able to hit that mark.

no, they did 14.3m last year, and 4.2m in 2013

I'll be real honest....PlayStation and Star Wars don't fit together for me. Neither does Xbox.

I don't think people realize how Confident EA is in this game right now.

They sent out BF shirts to Gamestop for tomorrow to start taking preorders just after the reveal. We're getting a release date and I'm sure product details. I can only hope they reveal a CE. I'll be there right after work to preorder.

That's just console war BS. I think people are screaming about it because it gives Sony a huge advantage this holiday if it comes to fruition.

Both console makers have huge games and marketing deals coming this fall and both will sell boat loads. I honestly don't think one will have an "advantage" over the other given that both will most likely be so enticing this holiday.

You're right. Both consoles will sell well regardless. But the SW brand is huge. A PS4 bundle with BF I think would resonate very well.

I feel the same (or at least in terms of a "HUGE advantage" in NA).

It's making me really pumped for E3.

Two things that came to mind.

1) Is a COD marketing deal really this hot? I mean, you have to live under a rock not to know that COD is on all consoles anyway. Best marketing deal so far was Deastiny because it was fresh and could fool people to believe it's exclusive. Battlefront could work better for that...

2) It would be too funny if Xbox users could play Battlefront first because of EA platform on Xbox and they are not allowed to use this for marketing because of the marketing deal with sony...

Just going with historical precedents.

With the sci-fi crazy hype that will be going on this holidays, perfect time for No Mans Sky also. Some will want to fight around in space, others will want to jump in a ship and explore space too!
