MC's outfit is not bad but that face is still shit.
Just like Kirito

Color me pumped. As long as the dialogue isn't terrible, and the gameplay is at least on-par with SO3, I'm sold.
Star Ocean is a series that slaps some scifi stuff on the typical medieval fantasy world stuff of many JRPGs.
No, magic is a thingSo the witch looking character isn't using "magic" then? It's Psionics? Or nanobots? Mass Effect Field generator?

These SO characters look a lot better than Xenoblade X imo.Bad character design 101: Star Ocean and Xenobable.
Is that supposed to be attractive? No wonder JRPGs are fading away.
Disregarding the actual model, why is it ignoring the shadow? Is she emmissive?
Atelier character models are so much better than any other anime-style JRPG characters it's not even funny. And that's on PS3.Always liked Willbell from the Atelier Characters.
The green hair woman gives the same vibe
The Pink haired girl looks creepy and uncanny, like these real life anime masks And the real life mask has more Emotions!
that is a tri-ace star-ocean game we are talking about, lol
dialogue will be terrible and gameplay will be fantastic
The dialogue will definitely be terrible. There's no way around that.
Did you not like the battle system of SO4? I found it had the best battles in the series personally and the main reason why I kept playing. (certainly wasn't playing for the story or characters...)
So it's like Final Fantasy then. Tech and Magic. Shame. Would have been nice to see a true sci-fi RPG. Something a bit different now-a-days.
Now if only the backgrounds matched that level of detailAtelier character models are so much better than any other anime-style JRPG characters it's not even funny.
FYI this game still has spaceships.

Considering they look awestruck in the second picture, they probably didn't know much about spaceships prior to encountering one.
See I think Reimi's face is much better. Yes it was awful under animation (or lack thereof), but as a still it looks like an actually proportioned face
Disregarding the actual model, why is it ignoring the shadow? Is she emmissive?

The pics aren't showing. And the link says forbidden.
eh I can feel the uncanny valley

I personally don't see his influence on the character designs whatsoever. Nothing the usual SO artists couldn't cook up.The guy looks kinda good because Akiman worked on the guy's 3D model as well.

I like the style. Not every game needs to look the same. I am kind of pumped for this,
she still looks pretty derpy here. could be part of her character though so will withhold more judgement until we get more info lol
I love anime, but I think the character models in these screenshots are mediocre artistically. And some of the character designs are just ridiculous. She's childish and absent minded according to the character descriptions in famitsu, so yes, she is supposed to be kinda durrr.
But the model is standard anime fair. Nobody should be surprised whatsoever for Star Ocean that the models are pure anime. Don't like anime? your in the wrong franchise
Even the protag? Because even his design is pretty much par for the course.Well he didn't draw the main female.
