I'm not sure if I can agree with Whiplash completely. It was kind of predictable where it was going to go, but also it went on for too long. Hell, if I were in the audience, I'd probably roll my eyes and check my watch.

I guess I'm the only one on GAF to actually watch the entire movie.

Great ending to one hell of a movie.

My parents are still convinced they saw the original cut of the ending before Coppola changed it to how it is now. From what they remember it was Captain Willard calling in 'arclight' or something, burning the village at the end. I guess that doesn't make an ambiguous ending.


Edit: The movie 'Prisoner of the Mountains' also had a bit of an ambiguous ending with the helicopters flying off to either rescue the soldiers or bomb the village. Bonus image
