I keep wanting Level 5 to make a truely great console JRPG but every chance they have gotten in the last 10 years they have missed. I have learned not to get my hopes up,

Also you are a crazy person if you think a new Dragon Quest game would be announced at E3 or any western event.

Except for Ni No Kuni which was fantastic. Would love to see a sequel at e3.

MS & Nintendo's past announcements. Anything I might have missed out/did wrongly?

I know I excluded some 3rd party stuff like Gigantic. I'm avoiding making the 3rd party side too dense and focusing on just the big ones, especially those noted to have a notable deal with the platform holder like Titanfall/SFV/Sonic.

Ni No Kuni was amazing in every regard except the gameplay. Battle system and team AI were dreadful.

I hope Level 5's game is either full action, or turn-based. And speaking of the imminent Level 5 announcement, I can't help but think it's going to be MASSIVELY underwhelming. And I'm not one of those who's pessimistic about E3 in general this year; I expect it to be great. I just really feel like what they announce isn't going to be what anyone wants. Though that could end up being a good thing.

Yeah, because Kojima takes 10 years to make games.

If he had his way, perhaps it would. And if he's going to sign with a publisher, even a hardware maker, he's going to ask for as much creative license as possible, given how his previous employer has treated him.

And some of you are grossly over-simplifying why TLG has taken this long and placing all of the blame for that on Ueda. He is the most responsible person, yes, but he's not the only guilty party in that fiasco.

It also wasn't meant to be a directly analogous situation. Auteur individuals are a pain in the ass for businesses for a very wide variety of reasons, and I doubt Sony wants another pain in the ass when they're still not rid of the other one.

I never understand why people presume to know what these companies are think about a situation like this. I know it is just your opinion, but you really no idea what happened with TLG/Ueda or anything regarding how Sony would feel about making a deal with Kojima especially extrapolating how one affects the other.

I posted a thread about this, but I thought I'd bring it up here. Would anyone be surprised if Sony announced a new Buzz! game for PS4 at E3? Would that even qualify as a major announcement for people. If it was announced, I would hope it would forgo the use of buzzers peripherals and instead use smartphones as the input device. That seemed to work quite well for Sony with the PS4 version of Singstar, as well as for JackBox Games with all of their recent releases. Plus, I'd imagine there could be some cool Twitch/U-Stream integration.

If it gets announced, it won't be at the press conference. If it were announced, and it were to show up at all it, it would be during a montage or in a graphic full of logos.

Personally, I would love a new Buzz!. Those games are an absolute blast to play when you have people over.

Yeah, I had so much fun with Buzz! Quiz TV. And if they went the smartphone as buzzer route, you could have a huge pool of players. If I recall, you needed two dongles and eight sets of buzzers if you wanted a truly full local game on the older games. I wish I had also bought Buzz! Quiz World, because I would've had that eight buzzer setup. Smartphones would make things so much easier.

Wow Yu Suzuki isn't allowed to be on twitter without people thinking it's Shenmue 3?

That said I could see this being the megaton announcement this year for MS. They like to announce things way early (Crackdown, Phantom Dust) and they are likely the only ones who can actually provide the huge funding Shenmue 3 would need. On top of that Shenmue 2 was on Xbox.

Some corrections on the Nintendo one, Woolly World was technically revealed at Jan 2013 Direct and then reintroduced at E3 2014. Also, Mario Party 10 was revealed at E3 2014.

His last tweet before this was 2 years ago, and this last one said "twitter will continue" (google translate).

Must be Shenmue 3

On the topic of Nintendo announcements, I agree with the changes Muzy72 suggested. Another change: Project Treasure should be listed as January 2015.

They're a company, so I imagine they're thinking "look at all of these man-hours we sank into this black hole of a video game over the past 10 years."

It's literally a money pit for them, at this point in time. And that's all they need to know: do we want to risk having another person digging us a money pit?

It's pretty simple to suss out the thought process of a corporation that wants to make money in situations like this.

Except there was no permanent team assigned to development and for most of the time since its reveal there has been an astoundingly small skeleton crew assigned to it with them frequently getting called off to assist on other projects. Once it was placed back into full development a small full time staff was assigned and has been aided by outsourcing of specific development tasks/projects. The investment from Sony at this point is no more than any other AAA project in their purview. So in short: you literally have no idea what you are talking about. Kindly stop.

I see some people are hoping for a new Splinter Cell at Ubi's conference, but I for one would also love to see another Ghost Recon.

Also....God of War 4 is probably too much to hope for at E3 :(

PS4 conference:

-No Uncharted 4. We just saw it at psx. Expect to see it there again. It is still roughly a year away.

-Persona 5 will be there. I think they should push this series in the West, so saving it for TGS would be a massive mistake.

-Ni no kuni 2. Level 5 WILL be there, ni no is my best guess/wish.
Please God

-Kh3 gameplay demo. There was some KH event a few months ago that had brand new KH gameplay only attendees got to see. I expect that.

-Guerilla will show off Horizon. I kinda expected this for gamescom, but since no gamescom, it'll be here instead. No gameplay, just trailer.

-God of War 4 is pretty much a lock. I expect this to end the conference.

-Sucker Punch's new game. Will only be a trailer.

-Bloodborne dlc? Might be way too early.

-Uncharted collection. No idea what games will be in this. Can't be just uc1 as that one would be pretty barebones and early looking. Would it be just uc2? But then they skip Uc1? I have no idea how this collection looks. I have a hard time believing all 3 will be there. Seems the trend lately has been 1 game.

-Battlefront gameplay obviously.

-Other shit.

Honestly, I expect Sony to hold back a lot of stuff for PSX. What I think will be at PSX instead of E3.

-Media Molecules new game

-Sony Bend's new game

-Horizon gameplay

-Uncharted 4

-Gran Turismo 7

-Sucker Punch gameplay

I think Uncharted 4 will be shown in every conferences.

Uncharted 4 will be there. Sony is not silly enough to not show off their flagship title in some capacity. PSX also will not nearly the amount of eyeballs E3 gets.

I doubt Kingdom Hearts 3 shows up in a gameplay trailer. Square Enix can't even properly churn out FFXV, how in the blue hell would they have Kingdom Hearts 3 up and running?

This is one where I think it won't show up, unless they do a purely CG trailer like they did Circa 2008.

-Sucker Punch's new game. Will only be a trailer.

Too early.

Sony won't hold shit back.

If MS have a very good conference then the expectations will be on sony to follow suit. Even the casual gamers follow E3, I would doubt they follow psx. So Sony would have to announce or even show little teasers at E3 and then more info at PSX.

Matt from YoVideogames gave his predictions for the Big 3 this year.

A summary for each
  • Microsoft: Matt thinks they're gonna double-down on Halo 5, Gears Remastered, & Tomb Raider. He's hoping for more ScaleBound info & a reveal from Rare.
  • Sony: He's 40% sure we'll hear of the fate of The Last Guardian this year either way. He's guessing that we'll get zero Vita talk & will likely rest more on games they already announced, but is hoping for something big from Sony.
  • Nintendo: He thinks that it's gonna be a weak year for Nintendo, & that all their killer apps this year will be mobile games with few games for Wii U & 3DS. He's guessing that Nintendo isn't gonna release another big title for the Wii U ever again along the lines of Xenoblade X & Zelda U (since the Wii U isn't selling & Matt thinks Nintendo won't spend anymore money on big titles for the system) and will rely on Mario Kart 8 & Smash 4 DLC for hype, along with more info on games like Star Fox (saying that the projects like Giant Robot were absorbed into Star Fox). He's also guessing that Xenoblade X will get a "Holiday 2015" release for the West but will really be delayed to next year.

Yeah a new God of War would have me so hyped but I doubt we'll get something at E3 because it's too early.

I doubt SSM have been working on GoW4 for that long seeing as they scrapped Stig's project not too long ago.

PSX seems like the closest time when we'll get a reveal.

I never ever dream about games but I did last night, so in this case it must be a vision, right?

I dreamt of a Shenmue III trailer, sporting beautiful graphics and an anime look to it. Apparently it was PS4 exclusive. Just sayin'

It's happening.

I don't know if I'll be able to resist watching this. I think I should avoid it, though. I mean, remember Uncharted 3's chateau section?
It featured Drake navigating this immense conflagration, dispatching enemies, evading flames, etc.
It was spectacular, but it's also precisely the kind of thing that is best left as a surprise when you sit down and actually play the game. There is no paucity of impressive set pieces in that game, but I still would have preferred to have not seen anything related to the chateau beforehand. When I arrived at that area in Uncharted 3,
I was like, "oh yeah, this area; it's going to be set ablaze really soon..."

I think I've seen enough of Uncharted 4. My purchase is already guaranteed. The same applies to the next Zelda. I'm not even really disappointed that the latter isn't going to be at this year's E3 because I probably wasn't going to watch any of the footage. There seems to be a deluge of Yoshi's Woolly World impressions and videos out there now and I'm doing my best to avoid all of that, too.

I'll check out the first bits of footage and screenshots of newly announced games, but other than that, I'm making a concerted effort to curtail my exposure to prerelease media.
I wouldn't be too worried. I'm pretty sure ND learnt their lesson and TLOU is the proof of that. They never even hinted at other characters like Henry, Sam and David in the trailers and it was really nice to find out the first time playing through. Heck, we didn't even know Ellie would be playable. I'm hoping for a set piece that blows everyone away just as how the demo at E3 2009 did.

Yeah. Lets drag Yu Suzuki into this mess of a hype train.

Next lets put all our hopes into the Half Life 3 basket as well!

My thoughts.

If GOW4 does show up I think it will be in a 15 second trailer like Uncharted 4 last E3 and reveal next to nothing.

BUT its probably a 2017 title at earliest so revealing it now would be pretty silly. I dont think God of War deserves a 2 year pre release hype cycle these days. That franchise is on the ropes. They need to play it smooth.

I think they skip E3 but they will put a real criptic teaser in the GOW3 remaster after you get the platinum or something. SSM loves that kind of shit.

God Of War is on the ropes because of a prequel that should not have even existed? I would not take that as any indication of the franchise being in jeopardy. I do hope they take every one's suggestion and move on to a new mythology though. I think that is the main thing that would cause franchise fatigue.

Nintendo one is spot on. I expect no major announcements from them.
We may get that Paper Mario game for the Wii U that was rumored. Plus we know that Retro Studios & Next Level Games have Wii U games in development, so we'll likely hear about either one (if not both).
