Gametrailers Thread: Good Night and Good Game

But that was her point. Sony doesn't have much for the rest of the year which is why they are going ahead with a Call of Duty BETA.

No one is poking fun at Sony or the PS4 here. This really doesn't need to be turned into a console war.

Didn't actually watch the video yet, but I'd still say that's an arbitrary restriction. Fair enough to you though.

But even with that, you still have to consider:

Then what about, Persona 5, The Tomorrow Chilren, No Man's Sky, SOMA, Salt and Sanctuary and Rime ? That's the one's that are popping into my head right now, I am sure there are more.

Yes, they're more niche games, but they still sell, and I honestly wonder if P5's sales might surprise us given the higher profile it's been getting.

This year! This year! 2015!

Edit: Sorry, Persona 5 is this year isn't it?

No Man's Sky and Rime aren't though right?

I'm pretty sure No Man's Sky has been confirmed for this year. People are betting on December. Can't find anything on Rime though. The other stuff is all confirmed for 2015 though, I believe.

Another game I saw is coming this year - Disgaea 5.

Rime does look lovely, I'm happy to hear this. Hope there's no delay.

That's a pretty old article. Plus, Sony didn't list it on their 2015 Release List and we haven't heard from it since. A release is still possible but I wouldn't be surprised if it was delayed.

You probably shouldn't get so upset over one sentence. It was an opinion and in some ways it's true. Andrew House acknowledged that the Fall/Winter line-up isn't as busy as some years but he isn't worried. That's probably cause of Sony's deals with Battlefront and Black Ops III and their indie output.

In terms of console sellers, no, there aren't too many games releasing this year. Especially as a few of the games you listed are only console exclusive. I'm not worried, I only have a PS4 and I'm looking forward to picking up a few games in the next 6 months but I'm fully aware that Sony's 1st party output could be stronger.

A lot of those types of "no games" comments just come down to personal taste tbh. Aside from MGSV and Persona 5 I really don't care for any of the other PS4 releases this year. I mostly care about sony's jp third party games so for right now there isn't much for me.

Can you name drop some other good ones? Would love some similar stuff.

Titansgrave - This is a new show hosted by Will Whedon.

Adventure Zone - D&D played by the brothers from "My Brother, My Brother, and Me"
http://www.maximumfun.org/shows/adventure-zone

Penny Arcade/ Chris Perkins - This is a long running series with the members of Penny Arcade and others with guest DM Chris Perkins (you may remember him from a special episode of Tabletop Adventures, he is a lead content creator for WotC)

There are of course many more tabletop style podcasts, but I linked these ones because their casts are somewhat recognizable within the video game sphere. If you find you like these, you will find many more options available for you. However, these should give you enough content for a while.

Whoever gets his or her feelings hurt by that stupid "PS4 has no games" joke should seriously step away from the keyboard and go for a walk.

She's not completely wrong.

A couple of remaster collections and Until Dawn are probably the only notable exclusive releases for the rest of the year.

So only one new game.

Everybody's Gone to the Rapture and Dragon Quest aren't huge games.

Yup. I got my PS4 last week and since I also play on my PC, the only stuff that's interesting to me right now is TLOU (kinda interested; it was cheap), Driveclub and Bloodborne. I even thought about buying Infamous, because there aren't any other exclusives I'd want to play. I'm mostly looking forward to Rime and Horizon right now.

I think the PS4 has no games thing is just a joke guys. Saying that their exclusive line up for the rest of the year is quite bad when you look at what the X1 has. Good job there's a load of smaller digital releases hitting PSN that look interesting. Now if Persona 5 actually hits 2015 I'll change my tune completely. :p

Tabletop has really hit top form these past two weeks after a bit of a slump, can't believe it could possibly be over next week!

Can't believe there's a console war going on....Jesus. Grow up.
Next someone will post one of those tumblr gif with all the excluives listed.

Exclusives don't mean crap in today's world anyway.

I just wanted to say, ivr been watching the FF7 playthrough and have to say I'm warming to Ben a lot more. Seems a lot less reactionary than on round tables when someone puts him on the spot and much warmer in the let's play.

Ben during LP's and Ben during roundtables are two different Bens. I think his journalism degree comes out in round tables and he methodically formulates opinions and discussion points, whereas during LP's he fast and loose.

I think it was during one of the E3 streams where Kyle described Ben's style as something along "he *really* wants to make sure you understand what he's saying". I love that, because it's not some stupid ranting, but because he takes the time to formulate his opinions very well, imo.

Always. ALWAYS check for omens in the fart gas!

On a related note, I really need to stop listening to these at work. I doubt my coworkers appreciate random outbursts of laughter coming from my office.

Tabletop was so good. Sad it has to end but also excited to see what they do next

From watching GT time last night I think I'm finally growning tired of kyle bosman's shtick of miyamoto is eveything that is wrong with nintendo/context is everything attitude that I have been seeing more and more often recently. I still enjoy the final bosman, but I think I should limit my kyle doses to that for a while.

During the ign e3 thing, the dude from no man's sky said they're aiming for first half of 2016.

Elyse is totally right. Sony has no real exclusives that can compete with halo and tomb Raider, or even star fox and xenoblade x.

its starting to grate on me too, it also enables Ian who definitely likes to play fast and loose with his opinion. Kyle does try and like all games, but he just has these couple of areas he's not willing to look into and just writes things off. Also since hes hosting, the combination of him and Ian railing something just shuts out anyone else, e.g. Elyse seemed down on triforce heroes and seen other people say its good. PaperJam also doesnt really seem to have much negative opinion.

Finished watching Tabletop Adventures. I think they kinda dug themselves into a hole by making the woman god person so OP. Can't imagine how they are going to fight her or why the characters would think they'd have even the smallest chance against her.

Them starting fresh with new characters would be cool.

GT Time could have used more new games announcement talk and less rockband parties talk.

Lol why was chat being anal about them using the guide for their FFVII playthrough?! I love it when they use the guide — as opposed to sometimes wondering aimlessly.

Another great playthrough nonetheless; anyone know if they plan to do a full playthrough of games after they finish FFVII? I love the Brad-Ben dynamic.

Brad mentioned Chrono Trigger during one of the FFVII streams. Didn't seem like it was set in stone though.

The Uncharted Collection alone will probably outsell Star Fox and Xenoblade combined.

And no, "the dude from no man's sky" didn't say that.

The exclusives argument is pretty dumb. Microsoft have Halo 5, TR2, Forza 6, Gears UE and the Rare Collection and I'm sure Halo and TR will sell really well, while Forza and Gears do decently. Whereas Sony have a dozen mid range to small games (Uncharted Collection, Until Dawn, Tearaway Unfolded, RIME, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Tomorrow Children, Persona 5, Disgaea 5, No Man's Sky and a number of indie games) which I'm betting will review better than those Microsoft exclusives but won't sell as well. Whether one lineup appeals to you or not just depends on your preferences.

Anyway, I really don't think they gave Bandai Namco anywhere near the credit they deserve. 4-5 years ago, they were pretty much in the same place Sega Japan are in now, with fans begging for Tales games to be localised and BN refusing to take even a little risk. Since then, they've started listening to their fans more and have actually done pretty well for themselves, especially in Europe.

Plus, they've made some really smart pick-ups, getting Dark Souls, publishing Witcher 3 in Europe and distributing Project Cars. And actually released the first interesting DBZ game this year in what feels like forever.

Bandai Namco have for the past couple of years really seemed like the one Japanese third party that actually gets it.

Elyse's comment is being taken entirely out of context. The question had to do with why Sony is pushing the Call of Duty partnership as hard as they can, and in terms of marketing to a wide audience, it's one of the biggest things they've got. Remakes, Disgaea, and all of those mid to small range games aren't going to rise above the Q4 noise and stand out like Halo and Tomb Raider. Associating COD with PlayStation the same way they did with Destiny could be one of Sony's biggest plays this fall.

There was actually an article I saw claiming that the whole 'PS4 is the leading BLOPS3 platform' announcement was the biggest part of the Sony conference, and from a 'mainstream audience' POV they may actually be right. Still, I do think stuff like the NDC is being underestimated given the sheer number of PS4 owners that never owned a PS3.

I'm not sure how Rise of the Tomb Raider might do though. It will be interesting to see how many people jump on the Xbox One version. We know it's a timed exclusive, and I wonder how widespread that fact might become before the holidays.

Halo 5 should do well, but people have an exaggerated sense of the importance of Forza. Those games never sell particularly well, certainly not at the blockbuster level. And I think there's a pretty good chance Tomb Raider will drown in a sea of bigger, better third party games this fall. Even the Gears remaster will be selling to an audience that overwhelmingly owned a 360 last gen, in comparison to the Uncharted Collection on PS4 where the majority did NOT have a PS3.

For marketing purposes Sony will lean in to the biggest games: MGSV, CoD, Battlefront like Elyse suggests. I don't think that's the result of a perceived deficit in games production, rather it's the most efficient use of money in that period. Might as well back the biggest titles during the holidays and promote their own big games the rest of the year when MS has nothing to show for itself.

Finally, someone talking sense.

Loved Don with the Matrix figures. Give him his own show!

I wasn't really arguing with her, just with the direction the thread had gone.

On her actual point, even if Uncharted 4 and R&C were still coming out this holiday season, I doubt the co-marketing deals for CoD, AC, MGSV, Battlefront and Destiny would've changed that much. Sony are in a dominant position, so they're using it to their advantage and scoring the co-marketing to most of the biggest games of the next six months. I've no doubt Microsoft would've jumped at the change to get those deals alongside Halo 5 and TR2 if they had the chance.

I really wish they'd put up more audio versions of their shows. GT Live and Tabletop Adventures would still work as audio podcasts.

They do have a podcast version of Tabletop Adventures. In fact that is how I consume that show. I find it much easier to fit podcasts into my personal schedule.

I will also add my voice to those that would love to hear GT Live as an audio podcast as well, though it may be difficult because they often cut to the game that is being played.

Another cracking episode of Tabletop Adventures. The little hints Hogger was throwing at Lalila were so good.

I can definitely see the next episode being the last for this party anyway.

Elise shouldn't have spent all those inspiration points. Pervance is gonna die trying to seduce a giant spider.
