I think clearance percent of HM raids is a lot lower than you assume.
Among everyone who ever played Destiny? Yeah. Among the active player base? I don't know man. Most people missing N these things are either old timers coming back for TTK or people who joined recently.

I'm not going on an elitist tirade like "you scrubs aren't worthy"! Btw in case I came across that way.

I just think it'd be compelling to have some stuff be truly skill-gated. Trials was intended to be like this, but as shown by my multiple Flawless runs, you can be carried and get stuff that doesn't reflect your skill level.

Someone who has 80% wins or 2.0 K/D in Trials with over 1,000 wins like some of our resident pros should have something to show for it. A truly rare emblem or shader or weapon that warns opponents "oh snap this guy's a beast".

Or like, you did a flawless raid solo? Cmon you earned something special. You hit your 10,000th Crucible win? Here's a veteran shader. Your 100th Mark of the Unbroken? Here, a cool class item.

I'd love to see items in game mean something. As it is, everyone who plays enough has everything.

So just to confirm, exotic bounties get auto completed? I have an elder cipher that has like 150 points on it. So I'll be able to cash it in after the patch for an exotic?

Wait what?! I have two exotic bounties going on right now... Auto completed... Awesome

Can anyone clarify the Redbull promo for me? I see there is a quest and a xp boost, are these separate types of codes or does redeeming one get you both?

There is one code under the tab of promotional red bull cans.

Once you enter it you will gain access to a exclusive quest once TTK hits, and you also get a new item called "Focused Light" which offers a 30min xp boost. This item will show up for you at the postmaster once the code is entered.

Yep, any exotic bounties will auto-complete once 2.0 drops.

Last stop: Hype point O.

Well done dude, I'm going to change my avatar back to "tooken" status!

If Bungie ever showed some real statistics, we'd see how far we're separated from the general population. I too thought like you, but then realized some people haven't even killed Atheon yet. By far, we're very much an outlier in the Destiny community.

That said, it would be nice for Bungie to give some cool shit to their fanatic fans. And I'm sure they will rectify that with TTK.

Can't believe I forgot to post this! I finally got around to getting the flawless raider achievement. 5 guildies and I banged it out on our first try with Crota. Surprisingly easy, but happy to finally have the 1K

They get to have the stats, the youtube video, and the quiet pride in knowing that they are awesome :)

If I were Bungie I'd be tempted to give out Sherpa medals - e.g. a medal for anyone with over 25 Skolas clears where at least one of the team members had never completed Skolas before.

That way you'd see Sherpa LFG posts desperately looking for newbies rather than the other way around :)

I would love for Raid shaders or emblems to only be available while that raid is new. Sure, you can go back and get the gear, but Chatterwhite is just available for those that beat him Vanilla, same for Crota during the Dark Below, and Skolas during House of Wolves.

Over-leveling trivializes previous raid accomplishments. It'd be cool to have something to show for "I did this while it was the hardest thing out there."

As it stands the only emblem in the game that won't be outdone is the Eye of Osiris for a flawless trials card.

Meh, I don't know. I understand why some people would want it, but I don't know why it needs to exist. Something like 1 or 2% of the community would have completed the triumphs. Having a subsection carved out that rewards 0.00005% seems excessive.

The biggest problem I have still have with Destiny is the elitist attitudes that pollute the community. People discriminate based on weapon choices (ie. Gally), Grimoire score, Mercury emblem, K/D, hours played, character level etc etc. Having something else that simply creates another level in this caste system seems arbitrary. I'm not, by any means, suggesting you share those attitudes. I just think that we have enough ways to show why X is better than Y + Z.

PS - I thought I'd add that I absolutely love the people I play with. I have chosen to surround myself with people that don't subscribe to the elitist mentality, and it has been wonderful.
People who look to Grimoire or a flawless emblem or a Gjallarhorn as an indicator of skill aren't elitists, they're just dumb. These things mean nothing. And that's the whole point. Nothing means anything in the game because everybody has everything.

I wouldn't think of a symbol of feats as being a level on a caste system or something for others to be discriminated by - just a little token for you to proudly show off what you've done in the game. Assholes will be assholes but we don't play with those guys anyways so whatever :p

I don't think I like you saying this.

Also, setting goals like that is not enticing, it is downright enslaving. Meaning most players would look at these requirements and laugh out loud. They'd never even attempt them.

The current triumph card was something that most people looked at and went: "OK I might go for it." And even after having said that, many people never got that Skolas kill. Many did not care enough to farm public events.

You hit the nail in the head. Enslaving because people are so used to always getting everything in this game that they'd see a ridiculous challenge as "oh my god I have to grind now" instead of "holy crap I wonder who has done all this stuff". It's totally OK for something to exist out there for people who are better or who have played longer than we have.

Thats the thing though. Everybody who cared even a little bit about this version of Triumphs will have completed it. Hell, many of us had completed them all before it was even announced (I'd lost Golden Chests when I deleted a character though RIP).

Meaning everyone will have it, and like previous "achievements" supposed to indicate a triumph (Exotic Flawless emblem, Glowhoo, CE emblem, Chatterwhite) it'll be cool for a day until you realize everyone has it and then it means nothing.

I played with Drizz a few weeks back and we saw a guy with a super cool emblem I'd never seen before. Turns out he got it because he was featured as a Movie of the Week by Bungie. I thought damn that's great! There should be more of these things. A symbol with meaning.

I'm not a pro mode player in case you think I'm looking down on scrubs or something. I would probably not get any of these things. But I truly think they should be there as a testament to skill.

That Drizz and Hawk with their billion Raid clears or Zoba and Unstable with their ridiculous PvP stats should get something special to indicate their skill and dedication would only be a net positive in my opinion.

Feel like a mug for buying The Taken King, PoE was so bad turned me of the game for months.

Taken King needs to justify it's price tag or Bungie can go F themselves.

Rank 3 for Queen reached. I didn't even need to do all the bounties it jumped me up 900 points from two bounties. Now I gotta farm 10000 of Glimmer.

If you're just missing it for collections I understand - but I haven't seen anyone wear it in forever. It's not terribly useful.

Just for collections really. I've had all the other Titan exotic helms twice but I've never got that one.

I disagree. I think this naturally works out. Sure, everyone may be wearing chatterwhite or glowhoo now, but in the first month or 2 of release, it was rare to see someone with those shaders. And when you did, you were in awe. By the time those raids are trivialized, people are wearing the skolas shader, or the next raid shader, to show off their latest badge of honor.

I couldn't agree more! :)

Hands down the Bow, no contest.

The former.

Queenbreakers without a doubt

Wow, that was easy. The promise is that bad, huh?

if you like a gun that's "exotic" feature doesn't work go for it, queens breaker is better than lord of wolves in my opinion.

Good argument. I'm sold.

I think a lot of people in this thread don't realize how far out on the bell curve most of us playing Destiny and posting in this thread are in comparison to the average person who buys Destiny. Lars Bakken basically called us out on that in one of those GI interview video's too.

Speaking of that, my pre 2.0 vault is ready:

Just normal Vault, didn't do any moving around to show off or anything like that. I have ten emblems and ten shaders on each toon in anticipation of the kiosks.... lol armor vault.

Wait... we can use motes to level gear now?

Damnit... I had like 600+ at one point, now I barely have 150 :(

Xur took them!

I'm wondering if I should buy the queen's shaders. They're expensive and I never would use them. Theoretically, Bungie can discontinue them after the update, but I don't see that happening.

This is one of those weeks where I really need to buckle down and get shit done at work, especially since I'm taking some days off next week. But I know as soon as the patch hits my productivity will be wiped for the day.

Damn this game.
