Maturity, bitches.
I knew Disney had copied anime before with The Lion King being a clone of Kimba the White Lion but I had no idea they had copied it even earlier with The Little Mermaid!

You lucked out with that frame.

You think so? I'm happy with it too, but it's hard to know really since there's so many possibilities. I guess in the end if I'm happy with it that's all that matters, but I would have liked one with the new characters maybe, but getting two of the fan favorites in a cute pose is a good result! I do like Sucy but you can't have em all, maybe next time eh? :p

Did you back the KS yourself if you don't mind me asking?

Then they ripped off Eva to make Big Hero 6. Totally shameless.

Angry Grimace

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"
Jitsu wa Watashi wa 1-END

Obviously not nearly as good as the manga, but my wife found it entertaining all the same. Class Rep > Vampire Girl though.

Well the composition is nice and central and it takes up a lot of the frame. Could have been so easy to end up with a small drawing with 90% white space.

No, I've not backed a single Kickstarter.

21/09/2015 – 27/09/2015 BD Sales:

So everything underperformed even Idolmaster and To Love Ru? Rip industry

Don't worry, I think it's garbage. While there were some good attempts at story and themes, even if they didn't fall flat by themselves, how could I possibly take any of that serious in such a fanservice laden show. People always reply that the character designer or so was a H artist which is great and all, just doesn't make the issue any better.

This is one of the shows' whose appreciation here on GAF genuinely puzzles me.

The belly dancing episode was the only good one because at least that episode had some nice assets

Madoka's BD cover is so vastly superior to the DVD one it is almost unfair.
I think both look fine. The Blu-ray banner at the top is unfortunate, I get why they put it on the slipcover, but at the same time it defeats the purpose of the slipcover for me, which is to make the set look clean and pretty! :p

I buy my Blu-rays and games online like most sensible people but for some reason while walking past HMV I popped in, of course the store had huge CLOSING DOWN! stickers all over the windows. Its been there for years but I've never been in, pretty big inside which surprised me. Saw quite a few anime too, mainly Ghibli titles, most of which were DVD and they had the Madoka films too on BD. Most of the stuff was DVD and consisted of GITS S.A.C, Darker than Black, Bleach, Nisekoi Season 1 and Ghibli stuff. No Origin, no wonder they were closing down.

I tried. But I am to stupid with graphic programs. :(

If you want to learn with something easy to use, I recommend firealpaca. It's what I started out with.

I'm halfway through full metal panic. It's good, very much played straight which is a very nice change of pace.

I guess so! I am happy with it :) Can't wait to actually watch the BD now.

Wise in regards to KS, I haven't backed much myself, its just all anime stuff. Mai Mai Miracle is taking forever to come out, but I guess I dodged a bullet with Under the Dog?

Fan-service is the pill you have to swallow sometimes to get an anime made. I bet there are a ton of really good shows out there that never would've gotten made if they didn't include scenes to uncensor in blu-rays, sell figures or pillows or move doujin. I realize the landscape of anime has bred a situation where these good anime have fan service shoved into them or have fan service in general that is very off putting so I've become relatively tolerant of it even if it's distasteful, problematic or irritating. That's just the way things are now and sometimes you have to get past that veneer if you want to watch a good show.

For instance, I bet a lot of people disliked Blade and Soul's incredibly INCREDIBLY terrible fan-service and pandering and jiggle-tits and everything. And they'd be right to. But I also think it was one of the top five anime of that year. And if anything it just makes me sad that all the bikini costumes and tits led to people not enjoying what was a mature, dark and fairly trope-less storyline of character growth and development.

Seriously, I'll fight you if you think that show was bad (outside of the fan-service and...awful CG).

There is also a difference between fanservice and anime which are just supposed to be lewd.

Let's not have a fan service debate in the thread already. If so, you are just falling into the hands of this thread title...

Well, not fan-service then. Sexuality and objectifying and pandering I guess?

I mean, I'd like to think people know what I'm talking about without a semantic argument from the intent of my sentence.

Glad you're liking it. Make sure to watch Fummofu and The Second Raid afterwards.
And then mourn that they never animated the rest of the LN's

I dunno, I think it's important to make a difference between shows with added fanservice elements (which can be everything not just erotic content), which can be pointless or even hurt the quality of the show and shows which are just lewd.

Surprising step down from last season. Don't really have a backlog either, so guess I won't be watching too much this season.

How's Plastic Memories? Might give that a shot.

Plastic Memories had a decent premise which was executed well but the middle part (almost everything between episode 2 - 9) is just some super boring SoL comedy.

Give it a shot if you like the setting, forget about it if you don't.

Edit: I mean, basically everything that doesn't feature Isla and the MC is bad

I really liked Plastic Memories, it could have been much better, but I really liked how they didn't back-down from what they set out to do and created characters that really grew by the end of the story.

Yeh fanservice for me is by definition something that has no place in the show and is done solely to appeal to fans/the general audience. That doesn't have to be lewd stuff but that's certainly the most common appearance thereof Thus it's also inherently a bad thing for me.

I'd never call the nudity etc. seen in the Berserk TV anime series fanservice.
Neither would I do that for ecchi shows because it's the god damn point of most of them.
SAO meanwhile has tons of fanservice.

Shokugeki no Soma is a show that has lewdness to it that I'd call in line with the shows direction, that being the exaggerated foodgasms, but also plenty fanservice moments where, for instance, we get a shot of some boobs jiggling for no reason.

Bakemonogatari and the rest of the series crosses the line back and forth many times. It's kind of fanservice...but purposely so, which again wouldn't make it fanservice by my definition. It's like the show actively works with fanservice every now and then, so it's more of a grey area.

Pillow Boys 12 [END]

So there's actually a timeline and this episode was a prequel, how long have I been sleeping with random boys? It has to be more than a few years because he grew up. I kinda feel like a dick for cheating all the time...

Who here gave me these recs. My goodness. Speaking of fanservice. Trash, trash, trash and more trash. Tentacles, tentacles everywhere.... I'm not sure if we even have a plot yet, but my lord, everyone is naked with strobbing beams of light all over the screen, uggh.

Recommended School Rumble to a friend. Watched the OPs and EDs again on youtube. Remembered how much I missed this show. And how much I hate them for never properly animating a third season. ;______;

Geez. I am increasingly coming to realise that my luck kinda sucks with these random item rewards things...

I know that feeling. Knowing my luck, it's got to be a still of a door or something.

I'm sure that you'll both get awesome ones! I'm pretty sure all these key animation drawings that they have are of actual characters, so I'll be shocked if you get a door :)

lmao, why are you watching Queen's Blade if you didn't want trashy fanservice? You should watch Qwaser of Stigmata next.

Yeah, I agree on all that. I can bear with most content in a show as long as it fits within its themes and doesn't feel completely out of place. I don't really like stuff that's merely created for the sake of titillation, but then again it isn't like you're watching Gakkou Gurashi and suddenly get treated to repeated flashbacks to a scene where Miki's wearing nothing but her lingerie (man, that was so random...); with ecchi shows, the sexual fanservice at least makes sense since it's the genre's reason d'etre.

While I really like the Monogatari series, I can't deny that fanservice helps it sell. Otherwise, we'd have at least one based Kaiki figure rather than infinite variations on black Hanekawa.

The focus on Takumi's shortcoming in life and love, as well as poor Yamada's unrequitted love are pretty sad. Those two should just hook up and call it a day. I mean, Hagu will definately only be with Shinobu and Takumi is too hooked on Rika to accept Ayumi, so there you have it. Takumi and Ayumi need to hook up and everythign will be right in the world.... as if... Oh well, let teh personal strife continue as they fall into the same traps and continue to stumble through early adulthood. The pace is a bit quicker notw than the snooze-fet earlier episodes and is pretty good stuff, albeit very melodramatic.

I can't remember why some of this stuff is on my Crunchy queue or whoose rec,. it was, lol. This is just something else though, my lawd..

There's that stupid chibi Kaiki trenchcoat figure though.

Don't know if it's official or not though, literaly just googled it.

It's kinda bad but weirdly cute.

Sentai Filmworks Licenses "Chivalry of a Failed Knight"

HOUSTON, SEPTEMBER 29, 2015 – Sentai Filmworks is proud to announce its latest acquisition, Chivalry of a Failed Knight, as part of the Fall 2015 anime season lineup. This action fantasy series is adapted from the light novels of original creator Riku Misora and tells the tale of Ikki Kurogane, a failing student at a prestigious school for Magic Knights. Ikki’s status as the “worst one” comes from the fact that he has no magical skills, but that doesn’t stop the number one student in the school, Stella, from challenging him to a duel where the loser becomes the other’s obedient servant for life!

Shin Oonuma (Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya, WATAMOTE) and Jin Tamamura (Invaders of the Rokujyōma!?) are serving as director and series director, respectively, and the studios SILVER LINK (WATAMOTE, Kokoro Connect, Yurikuma Arashi) and Nexus (Wakaba*Girl) will be providing animation production. Shogo Yasukawa (Food Wars!) is in charge of the series scripts, with Sei Komatsubara designing the characters. Jin Aketagawa of Magic Capsule is the sound director.

Chivalry of a Failed Knight is scheduled for an October 2015 broadcast in Japan and will be available domestically through select digital outlets with a home video release to follow.

I'd buy a trench coat kaiki figure

Someone finally gets it. Too bad it's unlikely that we'll ever get one since it's been a while since Second Season was released. Chibi Kaiki figures can crawl back into the unpopular hole they came from for all I care.

By the way, is there any site that'd allow me to check if (and when) figures for particular characters or series are to be released? I never got all that much into the hobby since importing them is completely unviable for the most part and local shops overprice them like mad, but I'd be willing to put up with waiting and import charges for a couple particular figures.

Also Hawaiian shirt Kaiki is best Kaiki, who even needs a trenchcoat.

Why not both?
