Pokémon Community Thread 4: "Your Portal to What's Hip and Happening in Sinnoh!"

If I'm not mistaken, there was that one trainer in XY where the effectiveness of typings was reversed. I found that pretty fun.

Inverse battles, yeah those were pretty cool

also in ORAS expect limited to one time a day so can't let you have too much of a good thing

Yeah Inverse battle was cool and should have been given a bigger focus than sky battle, heck they could had a gym leader who uses Inverse battle.

I am guessing that Game Freak shoved inverse battle into the background because they feared that it would cause confusion for new comers and younger player about the type chart.

I think horde battle is going to be a series staple since it was in the Hoenn remake and it's helps with EV training.

As for triple battles getting reintroduced, that will probably happen for the gen 5 remake, though it will be interesting to see how they do that.

Weren't triple battles present in the XY restaurants?

To be fair, there's not much other context you could put an inverse battle into other than the one presented. It's why I think that Rotation Battles will never really be implemented into the game, there's just not a logical place for them despite being really fun.

imagine double rotation battles for Gen VII though

I don't know, I could easily see them stretching that "one badge" much longer when all is said and done.

I remember Diamond and Pearl really stretched out the end with Platinum and Heart Gold and Soul Silver stuff---the latter which I found to be probably one of the most transparent marketing stunts in the entire series run with the N.E. Pichu bullshit, and the random Johto Festival. I sort of respect XY for not making the ORAS advertising as obvious as that was, going for a bit more subtlety and using the Mega Evolution specials to mainly serve that purpose instead of the actual show. The most flagrant element is really Shota, but he's a pretty cool dude so I can't complain.

Yep. The Sinnoh League had a year between the 7th and 8th badges

The anime's state (1 badge left for the League) and the use of ORAS in Worlds 2016 could be seen as evidence. If a "Pokémon Z" was planned for the second half of 2016, it would be incredibly odd to market its elements almost a year ahead. They would be old news by the time the game releases, making the whole point of Z-related evidence kinda moot (in that the same things could be incorporated in a new-Generation game).

Admittedly, a final Gen 6 game could be much more than just "Z". The reason they are nearing the conclusion of the Kalos saga could be related to the new content such game would provide -- maybe a new secondary region and whatnot. Likewise, maybe it could put a hand in improving the state of the metagame (through a mechanic related to Ash-Greninja, for example) for Worlds 2017. But all of these conditions take a lot of assumptions, and I'm merely suggesting an alternate scenario.

The use of ORAS in Worlds is irrelevant. 2012 saw Black & White being used again but Black 2 & White 2 came out then. If the majority of the season doesn't have the game, then they'll stick with the previous game. It's as simple as that. A March release would have more than half the season with ORAS so logically it'd stick as ORAS.

Fun fact. No Zygarde card exists in the TCG yet. It's obvious they're saving it for a set to tie in with Z.

By the way where do we stand with the new region hint that the backpacker in X and Y teased about?

Originally I felt that Pokémon Z would be set in a new region but after seeing that the Animé is dealing with Zygarde in Kalos is making me think otherwise.

Damn it Game Freak what are you cooking up for Pokémon Z.

Since it's been suggested that there are two Zygarde Cores, it's possible that only one of them is in Kalos (namely, the Zygarde 50% we encounter in XY). The other one is possibly in a different region, and finding it could in theory be related to the game's main quest -- a motive to visit another region. That's kind of what I had in mind for a supposed "Pokémon Ranger Z" -- one core being in the Ranger Z region, and the other being implied to be the one from Kalos. But it can't be denied that the same premise could be used in a core RPG, arguably even more easily due to Kalos making a direct appearance.

Incidentally, it recently occurred to me that we may have been looking at the Strange Souvenir the wrong way all this time:

The Mega Evolution specials were a really cool way to advertise ORAS and set up Team Flare. It's kind of weird since I'm used to the anime screwing up team plots.

I remember Team Galactic was pretty good. Team Plasma suffered from the banned episodes and never really recovered---didn't care about Best Wishes by the time they got to Episode N but I heard it was pretty lackluster.

And the two big Team Rocket plots back in Johto with Lugia and Red Gyrados were also pretty nice.

Pokemon announcement please! Kimishima will be forever in my heart if the first Direct under him has the next Pokemon game announced, I don't care if the announcement really has nothing to do with him, I will just always associate them.

If nothing is announced in this Direct, I wouldn't expect anything until news next year. I originally thought that there would be no announcement until next year but the anime/Zygarde formes threw me off.

I'd laugh if there is a new game being announced and it get leaked in CoroCoro first.

Kimishima-Greninja.

When the love between Kimishima and Greninja reaches its peak, a power never before seen in a Nintendo Direct will emerge and save the company.

Welp, I'll still hold out some hope, but it looks like this Direct is just for the US and EU. It's also just supposed to focus on updates for upcoming Wii U and 3DS titles.

Oh, that wouldn't certainly hurt any hope for big announcements then. Didn't realize Japan wasn't getting it.

Edit: I guess sometimes Japan directs get announced afterwards so there is still hope.

I'm playing Blaze Black 2 right now and I need some help beating the Elite 4. This game is hard as fuck. Victory Road was one of the hardest final dungeons I ever played in a game. Every trainer in there was like fighting Red, but there were a few who were even worse.

The Elite 4 seem to be the same way. I've only tried beating the Fighting gym leader, so that's who I'm focusing on at the moment, but I'm considering everyone's weaknesses.

Here's my team:

Volcarona is on the reserve. I think I could switch out Leevett's Strength for something else, but I'm not sure which. I'm also iffy to the changes I made to my Sawsbuck. I realized I never utilized her Chlorophyll ability the whole game so I gave her Sunny Day and Solar Beam. It would greatly help if my Porygon2 could evolve, but looking up online, the Dubious Disc I need is currently in a city that's blocked. I assume the rest of the dungeons and cities will open up after I beat the game, but I could use that Dubious Disc and the Dream Eater TM right now. There's also another Zoaroak blocking something in Victory Road.

I think I need to utilize my strengths and item usage a bit better. All these trainers seem like they're prepared for any type of Pokemon I have. Marshal has Dark attacks to handle my Hypno and Golurk, has Ice Punch to take out Golurk, fighting attacks to take out Leevett, Sawsbuck, Zoroak and Porygon2, and Stone Edge to take Out Volcarona. All his bases are covered. Also I meant to switch that Icicle Plate for a Mind Plate, but that's my team and I'm just looking for some help in this.

So I was in town today and I saw a bunch of Pokémon toys and it took a lot of self control not to buy anything, as you don't just buy one Pokémon toy you buy them all... already having regret in not buying a Froakie and Chespin plush.

I was also tempted to buy Mega Charizard Y figure but they didn't have it.

I had my suspicion that Zygarde had another form that was being kept secret and upon hearing that there are 2 Zygarde core it's starting to feel that way.

Though it could mean that two are needed to form Perfect Zygarde.

Get rid of Bibarel or at least get rid of Cut and Surf as cut is awful and Bibarel doesn't have the stats for surf. Honestly Bibarel is a better HM slave than a fighter.

Sawsbuck doesn't have the defence to set up sunny day and attract, so get rid of them. Also get rid of Quick Claw, Sawbuck is pretty fast so it's useless on it.

Embargo is pointless as AI don't have items nor does Zoroark have the defence to use it.

Get rid of Focus blast on Golurk, it doesn't have the stats for it and it's inaccurate

Your team have 4 Pokémon that are weak to fighting hence why Marshall is sweeping you, your best bet is to use Hypno, Golurk and Volcarona over Bibarel.

I disagree with Attract? That's been the savior of several fights in this game. Love status is op along with Freeze except it appears the love status lasts as long as my pokemon is out or if the opponent switches out. I don't think you've played this or read the whole thing I posted because almost every trainer in this game uses items. I can't count how many times I cursed out loud when I knocked down a tough opponent's health into the red for the trainer to use a full restore and many bosses use Leftovers. Swellow with a toxic orb is a pain as well. Embargo stops full restores and neutralizes those power orbs and gems these trainers seem to love.

I was thinking the set up I had on my Sawsbuck earlier was better. It had Attract, Nature Power, Horn Leech, and Mega Horn with a Big Root. I feel my typing is part of it, but it shouldn't really matter when I out level him and I've fought people on Victory Road who all used one type, but still managed to one hit KO my types that were resistant to it.

My Bibaril's been pretty straight for me so far. His movepool is diverse, he can take hits better than most of my team. Moody is random, but I've got some wins due to it increasing the rights stats at the right time. I have no use for Surf right now so I can replace that with Waterfall, Cut, I'm unsure what to change to and same goes for Strength. I have to account for the various types the others will use as well.

Hi PokeGaf. I've recently become interested in breeding cool Pokemon, and I was wondering if anyone has a Friend Safari with Dittos they can share with me. If not, does anyone know where I can find someone who does?

Thanks guys!

Curious, that out of all the .gifs posted in that thread, that treehouse employee decided to post the XY .gif to her Twitter and then followed it up by saying to get hype.

EDIT: since the .gif featured eternal flower floette, possible way to obtain it incoming?

I wouldn't read too much into it. Unless it becomes true of course, then you should take credit for calling it.

So, not something important in CoroCoro. Waiting for the Direct...

Theory time - people who complain about Pokemon XY "animation being crap" never played amie.

Tbh, it's a feature that many people don't care about. On the other hand, battles are the most important aspect of the game. Personally, I didn't have a problem with the animation, but whatever...

Well I wouldn't say nothing important, we did get confirmation of Blue Core.

And I also add that people only base the animation on the ripped models rather than the "actually hard to rip" battle animations and in-betweens.

Not only has no mainstream Pokemon game been revealed in a general Direct, the RPGs have never been featured in a Direct that wasn't a Pokemon-specific or E3 Direct at all.

I'm not really holding my breath.

Both XY and ORAS had monthly updates and information... none of which were even covered in any Direct. XY were featured in the E3 Direct, and there were two Pokémon Directs in 2013- one for the reveal, and one for the announcement of Pokémon Bank and the Kanto Megas. ORAS had a trailer in the 2014 E3 Digital Event, and that was it- admittedly last year was a relatively quiet year for Directs, but it was still notable by its absence. Between these facts and the fact that a Coro Coro scheduled to release after the Direct has leaked with no significant news, I'd be surprised (and delighted!) to hear about any Z news tomorrow.

TPCi have their own methods of curating a Pokémon game's announcement, build-up and release, and they don't tend to go for the Direct method, by and large.

The only reason they had a pokemon-only direct for X/Y was because it was the start of a new generation on a new handheld. We're already in the middle of Gen VI so it's not that serious for them to do all that. Plus, ORAS got a worldwide press release and teaser trailer out of nowhere. It's not like it's impossible for them to fit a Z announcement into a direct. I'm not saying I expect them to announce Z but with all the hooplah and Zygarde forms we've been shown, it'd be smart for them to follow up with an announcement of a new game, and soon.

You forget that we had two Pokémon only direct, one for the announcement of X and Y and the second for Pokémon Bank and the Kanto starter being in the game and megas.

However on the flip side we did have Pokémon X and Y info in the 2013 E3 direct that where we found out about Fairy type.

Personally with Pokémon 20th anniversary in 2016 and the fact that every Pokémon fan is itching for "Pokémon Z" info they could easily save it for another Pokémon only direct, so while it would be nice to get "Pokémon Z" info I am not expecting it.
