I'm not sure what you mean. Platinum is definitely extremely agile in terms of development, but part of that seems to be because these days they don't even have a strict "team" structure anymore. Kenji Saito directed Transformers Devestation, but the team that made it is not the Metal Gear Revengeance team. They're just made up of a bunch of Platinum staff from various projects. Are you sure they're all working on Nier? Is Kenji Saito working on Nier? I haven't really been keeping up...

Ah, I see where I was mistaken. Nier:Auto's Producer, Yosuke Saito, was where I got tripped up on before, where I thought it was Kenji Saito doing double duty. Silly me~!

If so, then I guess that would just make it so he'd only have to possibly worry about being the Team Lead for two projects. Which would seem much more feasible.

I'm pleasantly surprised that they didn't go with the Nick art style. Will be interesting to see how this looks in-game.

Yeah, the turtles were never edgy:

Really feels like people don't know the source material.

The Mirage comics are legendary, more people need to read them. They get really dark and the atmosphere is great. Fun fact: April never wore a yellow jumpsuit in them. Anyone who has only seen the 80's cartoon should read them.

IDW is good as well of course, love the look that Platinum is going with.

Fuck outta here with "terrible art".

I say this as someone who grew up with the 80s cartoon Turtles. Someone who played the shit out of the games, owned turtles pajamas, dressed as them for Halloween, had a crap ton of toys, knew the movies like the back of my hand, had Turtles themed birthday parties where professionals dressed as the Turtles showed up in the Party Van and fought Shredder. The 80s cartoon is one of the worst incarnations of the Ninja Turtles. That cartoon was my world as a kid, but it does not hold up. It's terrible. Every cartoon since has been better and holds up more. The comics are way better. The movies (even the new one) are better. Take off your fucking nostalgia goggles and get over it lol. I get the appeal of wanting something based on that era specifically after Transformers: Devastation happened, but come on. This shit is cool looking.

An insane amount of truth in this post.

Near identical experience for me, just lacking the live actors, haha.

I don't think it is likely at all for them to operate with the same director on two projects at the same time. That strikes me as something they would and can avoid, seeing how they're not afraid to give their staff chances to step up and take lead of projects. If this was indeed developed in parallel with Transformers Devastation, I think it'll likely just be different people working on it.

This is close to an ideal TMNT design to me. Slightly stylized; mean... Yet still adorable. :)

Also...you're THAT MNTG Tigerfog, aren't you? Respect~!
Yeah, when I'm not drawing mntg, drinking or playing video games, I roam neogaf. :3

I'm hoping the upcoming TMNT game will be have intense bite-sized levels.
Since I didn't play any of PG's smaller projects, I don't know what to expect in terms of gameplay. Simply hoping for a well executed local multiplayer.
Long live couch gaming. :)

If they can do couch co-op without it jeopardizing the game being the kind of character action game TMNT has needed in years, I'd be all for it. But I'd be lying if the few times Transformers: Devastation actually had the other Autobots fighting alongside your chosen character weren't times I wish they were controlled by pals.

Speaking of MNTG though:
GOOD GRIEF, MAN! POOR RENOIR!

This is TMNT to me. I had the original Mirage issues even before the cartoon aired, and they remain the best TMNT. The show was pretty good, but it's a shame more people don't know the original comics better. If you liked the 1990 movie, most of that story comes directly from the original Mirage comics, minus a whole lot of blood and violence. It's also where the Krang race and the Triceratons come from, as well as Baxter Stockman before he got whitewashed for the cartoon.

I dont like the baby faces, but could be worse.

I see Shredder, Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady and the Technodrome, so i suppose its based on the 80's cartoon in spirit, just with different art no?

Adult April with yellow jumpsuit then?

It draws on a lot of different sources. It has Shredder, Bebop, Rocksteady and Krang, but it also has Bishop, Hun, Karai, Nobody, the Mutanimals, Fugitoid and a ton of original characters, too.

There's a mystical edge to this series. Splinter and the Turtles were Hamato Yoshi and his four sons re-incarnated as test animals at Stockgen, where April interned in college. Shredder is immortal due to his alliance with a Kitsune Witch, and has been alive for over 400 years. Then there's the hard scifi stuff with General Krang and the Nutrinos. It's a cool take on the series, and is definitely worth looking into.

I was only interested in this if it was based on the IDW Turtles, so I'm psyched. I'll probably pick this up at some point then.

If a new game had the original TMNT designs from the comics I wonder how GAF would receive it.

Personally I dig these designs.

I'm excited as well, especially if the art indeed ends up looking closer to that IDW style people keep posting. I do wonder though why so few Gaffers have put this (to me, dream come true) game on their most anticipated list.

TMNT!
TMNT!
TMNT!
(80's style would have been cool too...)
TMNT!

I'd be shocked if 80's turtles weren't an alternate costume or, knowing Activision, a pre order bonus. Would actually look forward to seeing those designs in comic Turtles backdrop. lol.

Hoping there's a bit of Rising this time around. That plus co-op seems godlike.
