Last post for the night, some random thoughts and reads that come to mind before I hit the sack:

EzekelRAGE - I'm not 100% convinced that your power is town. Granted, I'm like 70-80% convinced you are but I still think there is a possibility that you are neutral. Definitely not scum though.

Hipster Cthulhu - Hasn't posted at all during this day phase yet, the only person who has yet to post unless I'm forgetting someone. Didn't contribute much of anything on D1. He needs to speak up, and soon.

TheWorthyEdge - Super active but a lot of his posts are pretty fluffy, mostly agreeing or disagreeing, asking for clarification, explaining things. An occasional irrelevant post here and there. Honestly that isn't something I have a problem with (I'll probably end up doing the same stuff most of the time) but you do it so much that it's turning my head a bit. Idk. Feels like you post anything for the sake of appearing active, even if there's not much point to it.

Xamtheking - Same as Worthy really, though I find that your posts tend to have less substance on the whole and you post even more frequently. You post things that are irrelevant more than I think is necessary, things like posting jokes and videos that have nothing to do with the game or commenting on other peoples avatars - doing that once or twice isn't a big deal, but you've done it quite a lot. Being on board for the name claim doesn't help your case either imo. I'm not gonna vote for you yet, there's still 2 and a half days left before night so there's a lot of time for things to develop further, but if I were going to put my vote on someone right now it would be you.

On Xam voters: I can't say that I really disagree with them, I'm just a bit more weary about voting on him because I was confident he was scum in Volcano Island due to lower contributions, and then he wasn't. Bit of a meta reason though, and he's not really done too much to gain confidence this time around.

He's quite an easy target though, whilst there's a bit of bandwaggoning going on, it could be interesting that Scrafty's vote hasn't picked up traction quite as quickly as my vote on Kalor did, although that could also be either due to it being much further from the deadline, or people cautious about bandwaggoning on Scrafty, after we've warned about it a few times.

Also notable that both the people who did jump on after Scrafty also didn't vote on the Kalor wagon.

Vote: Xamtheking

I'm curious about this; I find it a bit odd that you put a vote in for Xam with no further explanation 3 minutes after saying you were a bit weary on voting for him. Unless you intended to just vote for him anyway in that original post and you forgot.

idk. Couldve been any of the below:
Another gambit
Scum just throwing something out there for discussion
*scum sort of low key agreeing on it, avoiding suspicion while still trying to get the plan going
Scum making this play while making sure other scum are against it publicly
Scum using this to say why would I do an obvious scummy thing

The problem with this kind of reasoning is that you could apply it to almost every situation, leaving nothing to help you with scum hunting.

Don't forget that was also around the time Quantumbro dropped out, so some Kalor votes were from people that moved away from Quantum (like mine).

Do you believe that bandwagonning is actually happening? Or we have good reasons those who vote for him?

I mean bandwagon is simply just voting with no reason, sort of like what you did right after this post.

Curious why you picked those people to read Drago. Seems there are more interesting people to read.

Gambit, I was curious to see if it would pick up any more traction whilst I was asleep.

Well, blindly following me would be a bit awkward for you, since I am currently voting for you :)

BTW, any reason why you added that blindly follow bit to my read, but not to your other, even more strong town read Crimson?

Scrafty's ultimatum was pretty extreme, and my partner was taking me out yesterday, so I couldn't have participated in the early D2 game. I focused on the most salient aspect of yesterday to me other than the Kalor pileon (which I couldn't have devoted the time for). It's Monday morning (well, noon), and we just woke up, so I'll focus on other issues after we eat.

Well, my thought wasn't so much "is this dude Maya?" as opposed to "Why is he talking about burgers so openly?" -- hence, "blatant breadcrumbing". Anyone can breadcrumb-- it doesn't mean that you're Maya, or that I think you are. I don't think the real Maya would

make such a big show of

eating burgers

to the point that it was so explicitly noticed by other players (in the form of quotes). I know better than to fish out a PR claim from someone I think is a real PR. I don't really believe you're Maya, which is why I still voted for you. I read your burger posts as a scum trying to breadcrumb as a contingency. The suggestion of name claims doesn't really help how you smell from my perspective.

squid, I'll post some reads in a bit, after breakfast (at lunchtime).

You probably wouldn't believe me if I said the burger jokes were because of the comic.

Specifically because of the blackmailing thing, because that bit of information has major implications depending on whether you are telling the truth or not, so I consider it to be a very hot-button issue. Crimson hasn't yet said anything about getting anything or doing anything so that issue for him isn't applicable in my mind. HP blindly followed Crab after his Filch "reveal" because he was using what town believed was a strong connection with Gorlak/Umbridge.

Ok, that makes sense, kinda, even though I am not steering this game into any direction with the information I shared, contrary to what Crab did in HP, so I don't fully follow that comparison. We really have no idea what the blackmail thingy actually does.

Yeah this is something I wanted to point out kind of. Or something related.

I typically believe that at least 1 member of scum will be very out in the open, with a high post count. That person will be the one to manipulate discussion.

You and Crimson have high post counts, but I don't really see any active attempts at manipulation.

The next people are Ezekiel (I think neutral tbqh. I really don't buy pure town with that sort of power and name), Xam (maybe scum, but he's certainly not leading the discussion), squidyj, and WorthyEdge.

But at this point that's a fairly large list of names so going "scum is in here somewhere" isn't that impressive. But if I were placing bets, I'd place them on Xam/Squidyj/Worthy. In no particular order.

Oh and of course me. Who satisfies the high post count and an active attempt to lead a lynch on someone on D1. So yes I'm a bit aware of the hypocrisy of using a method that would damn myself as a method for finding scum.

I agree you're not steering the conversation, I just wanted to take some precautionary measures. You are a good doge in my book.

Vote: Hipster Cthulhu

Ehh, I don't know if now is the time to prod vote. I mean, I'm not against calling him in here but I don't think the whole vote when he's not here is worth it, because chances are you're just going to take that vote off.

Hipster. If you don't contribute in this thread by Tuesday night I will not be the happiest of campers.

You do remember squidyj's vote doesn't count as a vote today, right?

Forgot about that. Sorry squidy. Carry on.

I still don't like the idea of prodding right now. It's not something I consider to see as "off" but just something I disagree in at this point in time.

We still have 2 days until the deadline, and he hasn't shown up yet. Seems perfectly valid to me. What does seem off is your reaction to it.

honestly not really,
your only specific cause on me is barrylock's suspicion on me, which i already addressed and dont really have more to say on it.
and you said yourself that this vote was at least partly motivated by scraftys ultimatum (which i completely missed), so i dont really feel to pressured by it.

Fair enough. I just don't care for the idea of prodding someone to come in to talk. I agree, he needs to talk. But, there's so many people in here now that I feel like a beneficial vote would be on someone else more noteworthy.

A vote like this reads more like "I want to get an easy vote out, so people jump on the bandwagon!"

I looked back, when I made my vote on Hipster and said it was a prod, and TWE, who was in the thread at the time based on posts, didn't speak up about it, if that helps

Seems like all of the accusations on me are "why didn't you speak up when this person did the same thing?"

When was this vote for Hipster?

Then why didnt you speak up when I did it?

Vote: TheWorthyEdge

Hypothesis: You're getting worried because your scum teammate isn't posting (for whatever reason) and is getting called out for it.

Vote him, I don't care! I knew when I posted that I was going to be accused for exactly what your hypothesis stated. Do I care? No, not really because I genuinely don't believe we should prod vote him. I'm not getting defensive. If I was scum and hipster was too, then I wouldn't get defensive until......say 4 or 5 votes. He has...2? And the one that I said anything about didn't even matter.

I'm saying "Hipster get your ass in here, but guys, there are so many other more beneficial votes we can place right now and see if anyone vocal says anything suspicious about it."

We've been prodding Hipster forever, and he hasn't came in yet. What are the chances he's going to waltz in now, and furthermore add something useful?

Cant quote for some reason

Yeah! I gotcha.

Not a good reason at all, but I posted right underneath you while engaged in a conversation with Corn, and it was near the bottom of the page.

I'm sure I saw it but it didn't really strike odd to me because it wasn't even noon yet yesterday when you posted it.

But you just said you didn't feel that prod votes were beneficial; why would the time I vote in a manner clearly meant to prod influence your thinking of the vote at all?

If it's earlier on in the day I don't mind as much, but as we get closer to the end of the day....I don't think it's the smartest of strategies. Also, I know, again this isn't the best of remarks, but wouldn't you think that Sorian would be prodding and PMing hipster to say something if he was scum or a bigger role? I know that's not valid discussion but something I've been thinking about over the course of the day.

you know it's not valid but you're discussing it. we have no idea what's going on behind the scenes, that sort of speculation is somwhat suspect.

Why is it not smart to prod players when we still have time left in the day? what's wrong with it?
