100 days out? lol, that's literally a third of the year. It amazes me how we always get ahead of ourselves with E3. Ah well, suppose it's fine. My predictions...
Bethesda: They're back again, which is surprising considering so much was made of their studio being "tiny" compared to other AAA publishers. I'm guessing they've got Dishonored 2 and DOOM. If they have another project, it can't be Elder Scrolls VI since that's probably two years off and going off what they said not long ago, the announcement from reveal to release would be even less than Fallout 4--that was basically within five months, so I'm guessing three or less. IOW, either it'd be a September release or they aren't announcing anything new.
Microsoft: Consistently Microsoft has provided a decent conference every year since they announced the XB1. I don't expect any exceptions this year. DLC announcement for Quantum Break, updates on all the stuff we saw last year that hasn't come out yet, and maybe one or two surprises? To be honest, they showed off so much last year that I don't think we've seen yet that they could do an entire conference just updating us on that. I'm betting Crackdown, Scalebound, and Gears get spotlight tho. They might cut off one and place it with ReCore for Gamescom.
Nintendo: ....It's N-X time, right? Nintendo has done literally everything they can to put this off, including announcing a new generation of Pokemon and telling us about "Wii U and 3DS releases from April to July". They've even allowed some of that stuff to leak beforehand, presumably to keep from revealing anything N-X related. This has gotta be go time.
So...what is it? Who knows other than the folks at the big N? Pie in the sky, it's a portable/console combo. They'll take a hit on profit and launch it for $400, but they'll also do the impossible and create a system with an actually decent launch line-up and launch window games. (Notice I said pie in the sky. More likely they're two different systems that benefit from one another if you have both.) Mario, Metroid, Pokemon, Donkey Kong, ports for the trinity of high-selling games they released for the Wii U, whatever. Full-on fanboy mode, they've made whatever apologies necessary and secured all of the third party support for when this thing inevitably launches later this year.
Ubisoft: It's really not E3 if I don't see Aisha Tyler at this point. She's just so cool and relaxed, at least when she's not forced to interact with the crowd. *_* Sorry, got starry-eyed for a second there. Anyway, since there's no Assassin's Creed this year I'm betting they lead off with Watch_Dogs 2. I quite enjoyed WD1 and they've had plenty of opportunity to listen to what fans wanted, so if this one isn't a MUCH better game then something's gone wrong. Better driving, a more technologically-advanced city, and a more interesting character would go miles towards fixing the problems of the first.
Other than that, expect five minutes to be wasted where they tell us "Guys we raked in SO MUCH MONEY off The Division" and then proceed to inform us of more of their DLC plans for what by then will be one of the best selling new IPs of all time. Then some kind of announcement for Just Dance with a music performance that I'm sure is nifty for people there but utterly boring for those of us at home.
After that, an update on For Honor and maaaybe a release date on Ghost Recon presuming it's not the latest "introduce at E3, take three years to bring it out" game. And I bet, somehow, Far Cry 5 gets announced either here or at Gamescom. Just a feeling, lol.
EA: LOL fuck these guys. Two years ago they spent 35 minutes putting concept art on a projector and called it a conference. Last year they got Pele up there and spoke to him for 15+ minutes and legit put me to sleep. (It was a great idea that they put in the worst possible place.) Here's where they'll tell you Mass Effect: Andromeda is coming out early next year, we'll finally get to see Criterion's "Beyond Cars" thing in depth, and I think its time for a new UFC game if I'm not mistaken. They'll also sneak in Titanfall 2 and Battlefield 5, which I think are both going to hit this year...because of some reason. >_< The cool stuff (the non-first person Respawn project, Visceral's Star Wars thing, and whatever else BioWare has up its sleeves) I'm guessing won't be talked about because most of their biggest projects are actually hitting within six months to a year of the conference.
Sony: Oh man, these guys are so fucking fucked. They turned E3 2015 into legend and there's literally NO WAY they can top it save a show that back to back intro's Rockstar's Agent, S-E's Chrono Break, and the return of Crash Bandicoot. The sad thing is, I'm willing to bet a number of fans will call this year's E3 better because we'll get info on games that are actually coming out in the next year. They'll be ready to be honest about Horizon being an early 2017 game by then, TLG will get a proper release date, and I'm sure Sucker Punch will be ready to show off inFamous 4/New IP by then. Also we'll probably get the Destiny announcement here along with map pack info for the next CoD. Sorry about that guys.
It'd be cool if we finally found out about those two Warner Bros. games here though. We know WB Montreal was probably doing Suicide Squad, but are they also doing a Superman/Justice League project? I really, really hope so because I don't give a fuck about the Squad lol.
Also, there's
Ni-Oh,
Ni no Kuni 2, and a whole bunch of other stuff that will probably get sidelined for Gamescom/Paris/PSX/Game Grammys.
Oh, and I forgot: In place of a PS4 "slim" we'll probably get an official release date for the PSVR project along with pricing and maybe a launch line-up. Actually, there's a good chance that if you're not all in on VR, this show might be slightly disappointing. We'll see though.
Y'know who REALLY needs to make a return:
S-E: Last year their conference had me on the edge of my seat. They have so much stuff in the works that there was no way they could get through it all, and they'd be completely justified coming back here again. There's Rise of the Tomb Raider for PS4, more Hitman junk and Deus Ex again...but there's also:
- Final Fantasy XV
- World of Final Fantasy
- Star Ocean V
- Project Setsuna
- Dragon Quest XI
And that's before you get to all the rumored stuff like Front Mission and Final Fantasy XII HD, stuff we shouldn't hear about like Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy VII:R, or any potential new IPs. Once again Square could literally have the best conference if they chose.
