E3 begins in 100 days- what are we expecting?

Bethesda Game Studios has three new projects under wraps, so hoping we'll learn about at least two of them. Even if one of them is just some mobile crapper title since Fallout Shelter did so good for them.

I'm hyped for this year's E3 for one single reason

Nintendo NX

I already know that I'll get cool games for PS4 and XB1 and my backlog is already huge so I'm not really interested to hear about what else I'll add to my backlog, I just want to know what I can play on Nintendo's next console and when I can play them and what the console will cost and if there are new features etc. Haven't been this hyped about a new console in ages.

Not really. He was asked about both games specifically. He's never made any indication in the past that they're part of the same franchise.

The quote says specifically Dark Souls 3 will rap both Souls and Bloodborne series as they want to do something new.

He mentions Bloodborne because he was asked about Bloodborne and Dark Souls. But Dark Souls III being the last in the series doesn't really say anything about Bloodborne because it's not a part of that franchise. The quote doesn't really close the door on another Bloodborne title.

In fact, I'll go out on a limb and say there will also be a Dark Souls 4, but it won't happen for awhile and it may be called something else. Basically, FROM isn't going to stop making "Souls-like" games, but I could see them taking a break.

Damn, again already? I expect bad mornings and lots of energy drinks at work to keep me alive. This time I will have to add the Nintendo conference to my watch list if they show up.

I expect

Persona 5(Sony plz!!)

Kingdom hearts 3 blowout(with an ending of now in development still)

Ape escape 4(believe, screw crash)

Ni no kuni 2, new trailer and release window

I realize my list is heavily focused on the jp side of things but it be nice of e3 to not act like they don't exist

Release dates for The Last Guardian and Gran Turismo Sport. Maybe a Civilization VI announcement.

Don't care much for anything else.

Bend game
Maybe Sucker Punch

Undead Labs State of decay follow up
Forza horizon 3

Hopefully a Quake reboot ala Doom and Wolfenstein

God of War and Sony Bend's title will probably be 2016's Horizon: Zero Dawn and Dreams of last year. The former will be the expected one like Horizon and Sony Bend's title will be akin to Dreams in that no one will really know anything about it beforehand.

Just add on one more major first or third exclusive and we're golden. Hopefully Sony Japan can reveal their supposed JRPG.

Plenty of things that could fill up the Fall.

Battlefield 5
TitanFall 2
Dishonored 2
Cod
Mafia 3
Watch Dogs 2
Shadows of Mordor 2
For Honor
Last Guardian
Horizon
Ghost Recon/South Park
Gears
Halo Wars 2
Recore

Obviously lots more is coming out this fall. I was just going over games that would likely dominate a week (with Horizon probably being the exception). Everyone predicted that Rise of the Tomb Raider would bomb launching the same week as Fallout 4. I'm just guessing where the heavy hitters are going to land.

Bethesda Game Studios' new project (initial reveal only)
Lol. Their next game (presumably TES:VI) won't be coming out until like 2018-2019. They also said they wanted the announcement -> release time gap to be as short as possible. They said either the same as Fallout 4's or even shorter. So don't expect to hear anything from them this year and even next year.

God of War: Can't wait for next gen (this gen!) Kratos.
Crash Bandicoot: I know it won't happen, but I hope for it.
PS All-Stars Battle Royale: I think Sony should consider another one, but with a big studio like Capcom. the game has lots of potential and if it has great quality, can be one of the best sellers of generation. or they can make a Karting game with popular PS characters. it should be awesome!

I wouldn't doubt Crash returning. I understand people being skeptical and all but the problem is that there's been too many hints, this time around, and the Playstation Keynote t-shirt was the epicentre of that. It's hard to stay frosty at the first genuine promise in a long time. I'm normally on the negative train with this sort of thing, but I'm too damn excited, this time around.

Karting would be better, all stars could've been great except they went with tiny PG characters which I'd imagine the sequel would still falter on.

If they wanted multiple characters fighting at once then they should have gone the 3rd person route (DBZ style) and have blood lots of blood especially if playing the likes of Kratos.

Bethesda

I think it'll be a lot of Fallout 4 again. They have been very quiet on mods for consoles. I reckon that they will use the console mods as a way to go back to paid mods. As in if you want your mod to be considered for availability on console it has to go thorough the verification process... which will be pretty similar to what they tried to do with paid mods on Skyrim. It might work as well.

The other thread I posted this in was deleted, so I'll ask here.

When is a good time to start to avoid Gaf for fear of e3 spoilers? Last year was magnificent and I would rather not lose the magic this year.

My only expectations are NX reveal, updates on announced games, a psvr release date (if not at gdc), and reveals from sucker punch and sony bend. Maybe... Watch dogs 2? Idk.

Though I'd hope for dreams and nms on psvr, the rare collection and mcc on pc, hl3 and Crash (I remember reading that they pulled a game from psx last minute, and those t shirt shenanigans)

And I'm a junior now! Yay!

A lot of eyes are on Nintendo this year and for good reason. I'm looking forward to it but at the same time part of me thinks the NX has been overhyped and will not live up to anyone's wildest expectations. Still looking forward to Zelda and Pokemon though.

Sony. Yeah, there's no way in hell they'll top last years show but more often than not they tend to be most solid. I'm personally hoping for updates on Horizon and TLG, GT and Detroit, Sony Bend's game, and God of War. I'm not sure major thing they can announce (no Crash ain't happening) but I always welcome showing off more of their solid lineup to fuel the hype.

Microsoft. Yeah I don't know. I want to see Scalebound not look like crap, knowing what the hell Recore is Sunset Overdrive on PC, and Gears 4 and Crackdown. I don't even know what else they can announce at this point. Maybe an Xbox Slim. If only because the regular Xbox One looks like a brick. But other than that who knows.

My sony e3 predictions are:

Last of us 2

Crash bandicoot game reveal in some capacity

More on kingdom hearts 3 with a release date

Is this possible? Slims usually come from a die shrink, right?

2 and 3 yes please. But as a fan of the last of us, I really don't want a sequel, at least not with joel and ellie. And semi related I want uncharted 4 to be the last

To be fair, a good number of us who have been following the NX Platform have our expectations reasonably in check (to varying degrees).

Don't get ahead of yourself. This could easily be a much smaller game, not OMGWTFBBQ huge like their usual stuff but still a decent-sized game they could take to retail. They're doing another E3 show for a reason.

Anyways, we should keep this thread going until we get a Verendus tease. Dude basically spoiled half the show for us last year, we just didn't know it lol.

Crash Bandicoot is nice but I want a new Jet Moto game. Been wanting one since Jet Moto 3 came out in 1999. Franchise has been dormant for 17 years now :(

Also of note, Wave Race has been dormant since 2001 (15 years)

But Jet Moto was way more fun than Wave Race

GoW IV or riot.

SSM have had more than enough time to show at least something considering their previously cancelled IP delayed their PS4 debut.

If all I see is a bunch of new co-developed games I'll be pretty salty.

I don't know why but I'm really looking forward to see what Rare's Sea of Thieves is. I know everyone is down on them at the moment but BK: Nuts and Bolts was great and I'm really excited to see what they do with this. If an Xbox One Slim turned up as well i might cave and buy one

Also: the NX. I haven't been on GAF for that long but man alive the impossible expectations for this thing are through the roof. The only way it will b deemed not a huge disappointment by you bunch of lunatics is if its a home console with the power of a top end PC with 2 x 980ti, a handheld version with similar power and it launches with a brand ne wZelda, brand new Zelda, brand New Metroid Prime and an exclusive Dark Souls game while we are at it. Oh and it will cost $299 for the home machine and $199 for the handheld.

You all know what you're actually going to get - an Xbox one level home machine with a compatible handheld and some form of gimmick, Zelda NX and the opportunity to rebut all the Virtual Console stuff you have bought already again. This s what they do. Even if they did what you all want and realise a high powered machine with all the software beyond gamers it will not sell - the mass market has decided on PS4 we are mid ben and people have their mate on the systems they want playing their CoD and Fifa. they aren;t up for a new machine now.

So, 100 days seems to be the limit for the E3 hype posts?

I can handle that.

This year's been a bit leaky, but I'm sure there will be SOME surprises.. :)

Not really, the Xbox One is huge because they gave that sucker a hell of a lot of room to breathe to avoid overheating and another RROD scenario. They can easily slim it down.

Well I get that but that basically means a new cooling solution and design. What else would they do? Bigger hdd and stronger wifi?

I know if they do a ps4 slim they damn sure better add more usb ports (at least one in the back) and even though I use ethernet, better wifi (5ghz A at least) . They already fixed the power/eject buttons. If they could somehow add sata 3 that would be great too

If anything the expectations have leaned towards being cynical and negative based on Nintendo's previous history. It's just the E3 excitement and the promise of new games getting people a little more into the hype.
