Non-embarrassing photos of VR users?

I just realized that the tracking system in Disclosure seems very similar to the HTC lighthouses, only with visible light.

I mean I think most pics of people wearing VR goggles are fine. All you really need is a normal picture of a normal person enjoying VR and there wont be anything embarrassing about it.

For example:

Oculus-Rift.jpg

etc..

Those still look fucking ridiculous, due to the size of the damn thing.

There are plenty of great looking images of people wearing black or reflective sunglasses, but there's usually some eye contact.

True, but sunglasses lack the protrusion factor. That combined with the opaqueness make it look pretty bad. That said I suppose it would look alright if they could ever get smaller, lighter face bricks but it'll probably be awhile.

Either way I don't think most gaming VR users will be in public while using the headsets so it's kind of a non-issue.

Most of the "non-embarrassing" pictures posted here (exception being the soldiers) are of relatively attractive people. If you replaced them with, say, Jason Alexander, we'd all probably perceive them as stupid or dorky once again.

This picture of me is pretty cool. It was even used as the main image for some Oculus Rift articles on various websites, like Giant Bomb.

It avoids some of the more embarrassing aspects of a lot of the other pictures, but at the end of the day it's still a picture of a dude with a TV strapped to his face. Few people who don't have an active interest in VR are going to see that and think "Damn, pretty cool."

I'm excited for VR and I'm pretty much set on getting a PSVR this year, but a lot of people who have been following it for a long time are really underestimating what a source of ridicule this headsets will be. Zoned off in your own world in not a flattering look, and there's going to be porn jokes galore.

Go back and read old threads about Google Glass, it's the same thing. A lot of skeptics, but also a lot of people scoffing at anyone who thinks it won't be huge. Look how that turned out, and GG is imperceptible compared to a VR headset. Smartphones succeeded because of their utility and their main function, connecting people. VR has a long uphill battle before it becomes mainstream.

Oh my God, what is the context of this?

It's a Japanese game where you have to bang a muscular black guy until you splooge fireworks into outer space. Seriously.

The doll is a motion controller and has a wiimote in it to track how vigorously you are banging.

EDIT: originally you were supposed to be banging a school girl, hence the outfit on the motion control doll, but the devs thought that might be a little perverse so they changed it to a black guy

Since when did looking like emotionless drones steering into/shouting at a 'box' became a cool look anyway?
At least VR players will have more legitimate reasons for being so detached from their immediate surroundings.

That said, since VR is a more personal experience, the majority of playtime will most likely be in private anyway. I personality believe that people will look as silly as their mannerisms allow, in whatever activity they perform.
