Bravely Second: End Layer |OT| Those Thighs, Good Gravy! [out now in NA]

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
They played up Tiz to be super cool and different from the first game in the promo material,
but he's still just Tiz when you get him. His hair does look cool, though.

Also, what's up with this localization? I'm playing with JP voices on and they took way more liberties with it than they did with the first game. Lots of added pop culture references, punny dialogue that isn't there in the original, line additions, Magnolia speaking in French way more often than she uses English in the JP dialogue, etc. It's like a Working Designs game of old, almost. Maou changed to Ba'al? Ba'al buster? REALLY?

Tiz's Sagittarius costume is probably the best costume for him. Using that costume for one of the in-game scene makes him looks super cool
although it's technically not him

Daimaou -> Ba'al was already used back in the 1st game.
as for pop culture references etc, it is due to 2ch etc. jokes/references that is used in the japanese version, and of course it is hard to bring those outside japan while still making sense (in order to get the references) to general non-japanese players.

Ah, well the 2ch references went over my head, obviously. Ba'al I don't remember being mentioned in the first game - it's cool they weren't made up for this game, but Magnolia's title is still bad.

Not a fan of the way this game is written. BUT the story is rather lighthearted and enjoyable compared to the first one.
The banter between Yew and Janne was so good. Why did he betray you? ;_;

Seems like no one is using the google forms... who wants to add me? Need some friends for abilinks.

I added everyone listed from 875 on including that long list of people. Everyone add me!

Added both of you. Mine's 1204-0312-8934

~50 hours in now, I think the ending is in sight!
I thought it was going to end three hours ago, haha... the original Bravely went on a lot longer than I thought it would as well. Not a bad thing for me, though.
I agree about the Sagittarius costume on Tiz;
it definitely made the you-know-who reveal cooler! I'm never taking it off of him now.

was about to lose it as I thought Bravely Second pulled a Bravely default at chapter 4(of all places lol)

didn't know that you had to
use the hourglass to progress the story when you fight Kaiser/Denys at the beginning of new game +
I really thought I was going to start all over again! it sucked because
I progresses the story so Yew was a freakin freelancer with none of his gear during he fight....
had to use summons for him to pick up some slack

added all you guys FC is: 1246-8717-2742 for new page

EDIT 2: for people have trouble finding chopmshire,(where you exchange cp to pg) I took a pic

Cg_Vgb-WUAAZ0E3.jpg

you're going to need ALOT of cp

Of course the game decides to crash for the first time as I'm copying completed save data to a different slot, lmao.

I gotta say, I'm glad I went into this game with the import impressions. It was better than I thought it'd be as a result... though I'll admit I'm not very hard to impress. I fell in love with Luxendarc once again and I'm happy with the ending! The last fight...
I'll admit the bit with the main menu scared me a little;;

Now to grind some job levels...

Im guessing the game is still completely breakable with the time mage+valkyrie setup so a level 1 can kill a 99, right?

hasten world + high jump? nope... hasten world doesn't exist anymore, unless there's another setup that i cant remember
there's new broken party setups that trivialize the game though

Just got a new 3ds and bought this game on a whim. I didn't play the first but I don't mind. Very excited to start. Haven't played an rpg in YEARS

I really miss Ringabel.

going through my memory, the build isn't that exact, and not as simple as hasten world+high jump
3x spellcaster + 1 tank
spellcaster is in ghost mode
have that 0 mp for spell at low health support ability
either echo or chainspell... can't remember if those stack or not
1 of spellcaster is wizard for spellcraft (rain) + ventriloquism
other 2 should have time mage for meteor spam, probably yokai/time mage combo for passive echo without using the support slot
as for tank... err guardian with err... can't remember
something about boosting defense to max and/or undo hp for recovery

this is of course overkill for normal gameplay
a simple 4x spellcaster w/o in ghost mode is enough to FTK/OTK final boss wit meteor rain spam without even need to over level. might need special buff though

Signal recieved!!! I actually wrote out the combo on gamefaqs, so just going to copy paste that:

3x Yokai/Time Mage [In Ghost Status] ---- (Use Meteor x4)
- Chainspell
- MP Free in Pinch
- Full Charge

1x Yokai/Time Mage ---- (Use Meteor x3, Rain)
- Spellcraft
- Ventriloquism

(320,000 x 3) + 120,000 = 1,080,000 damage (+ Echo bonus damage)

You can tweak that 1x Yokai/Time Mage to something else depending on user requirements. Like you might need a defensive move in there to survive an attack or something. A Guardian with Dual Shields, Limit Break, Purrfect Stance and a bunch of defensive/undo abilities is a good all purpose tank.
Anyway, to see this set up in action, check out the video below that shows beating the Firstborn Ba'al (1,125,000 HP) in one turn on hard mode:

Wouldn't this only work with Bravely Second, since other wise damage cap still exists?
Edit: Nevermind, saw the video, so I guess damage rain still racks up. BUt your numbers don't make sense outside of BS regardless to me. Even with 4 hits of 9999 done 4 times, each ghost can only do 160,000 each, not 320,000. At least without echo

good Lord!!!!

I've been playing this game wrong!!!

Bought this the other day, but I'm not impressed.

So after the last game had you go through the same dungeons 3 or four times, they decided to make a game whee you go through those same dungeons AGAIN? What a nightmare

I feel like the story, while "lighter" than that of the first game, is much better written. I find myself enjoying the main quest far more than the sidequests, which is the inverse of how I felt during the entirety of BD.

The sidequests themselves are a bit flawed, as I keep choosing the option that gives me the asterisk that I want, which so far has been the opposite of the moral solution I want to choose. Ah, well.

I agree, the game doesn't take itself too seriously and I'm enjoying the story a lot more because of it.

Yeah it's kind of whack. The joys of the first game for me were mostly in the job and battle systems tho, so I don't really mind recycling some floor layouts. I have liked some of the new ones, especially the crater. Just roll eyes and abuse that 0% encounter rate option to speed through the cruft! :D

came back mentally
am level 70 w/ tons of jobs mastered and 1,000,000pg

WHAT DID I DO ;_;

I'm a bit into Chapter 2 and I'm absolutely loving this game so far. The music is the only disappointment for me.

I'm going to be absolutely devastated if Yoko and her anisama turn out to be evil. That doesn't appear likely as of right now though.

Yeah, I agree, music is a bit of a drag compared to the BD.

Oh, and off-topic, but you have an awesome avatar, sir. :) You should post in the Playoff thread.

I'm liking the game and the localization and voice acting is really good but fucking hell, pronounce it Bay-all because saying Ball Buster's all the time or that Magnolia can really take care of balls is super fucking distracting

Same here -- hard not to take the gameplay option you want, which devalues the narrative device.
