Battlefield 1 Reveal Trailer, PC/PS4/XB1, Oct 21st [Up2: Screens, Info, Open Beta]

On one hand, I totally agree. On the other...we've been glorifying wars thru video games for years now, decades even.

We have, but I feel there is a clear difference to how Medal of Honor treated its subject manner compared to this, based on this presentation. This looks like WW1 through the lens of Michael Bay.

That's a Henna tattoo, but we never had Henna designs on the face, not on males.

I don't believe the person in the image is Arab. It seems likely that, that person is T.E. Lawrence, or Lawrence of Arabia. He was quite active in the Arab revolt and very influential. He used a lot of guerilla warfare tactics the proved to be key to taking down the Ottomon's, who were allied with Germany at the time.

That guy went through some shit, too. At one point he was captured and sodomized a by some Turkish leader. He ended up with tons of shrapnel wounds over the course of his stay. He was a true bad ass.

Yeah, it's kinda disturbing to see them taking one of the most tragic and darkest periods in human history and then talk about how awesome it is to gas people and stab them in the chest with a bayonet.
Our technology has evolved faster than our primitive nature. Why not satiate the blood lust that we have with entertainment that is now possible?
Post racial America colorblindness!

He's black. He's a member of the Harlem Hellfighters. Look them up.
Are we heading for the Far Cry 4 villian reveal thread of embarrassment?

Because no other war has ever been as brutal and tragic right?

I don't understand why WWI has this kind of sacredness about it. All wars were just as terrible, and most of them have had video games made about them.

Because it was. It was fought for very, very unnecessary reasons and the means of fighting haven't been topped in terms of brutality since. WWII was brutal, but WWI was on another level.

If this pans out then this would be the first Battlefield game I have played since Bad Company 2. Please have Bad Company 3 be the next Battlefield game.

The tone of that trailer, the music rendition and the setting oh how I view WW1 are on polar opposites. Like WW2 is a setting that usually has an air of respect levied to it. Maybe they were just following hollywoods queue there. But to go all out "war f-yea!" For WW1 is bizarre to me.

It doesn't bother me in a COD or a fake conflict. But when you do this for a real event it bugs me

Yep. It's pretty gross when you learn about the horrifying and senseless deaths from World War I and then see this trailer where a one man army Rambos his way through a mustard gas attack.

As someone else brought up, the original Medal of Honor and Call of Duty games were very respectful of their source material. This looks to be the opposite.

Not really. It's a game, I just don't understand how people can so easily be disturbed by something like this.

Looks cool.

Though after BF3 and 4 I'm not too sure I'm into this franchise anymore. It's good, just not my style of multiplayer

Looks more like BF with a WW1 skin. "Everyone has portable machineguns! Triplanes are the new X-wings!"

A WW1 battlefield looks like a WW1 skin on battlefield?.

Who could have imagined. I was totally expecting it to look like a completely different franchise

World War 1 was completely pointless, unnecessary slaughter.

It was just throwing bodies on top of more bodies to fight over literal inches of meaningless land. It's held in such a way because it was so extraordinarily brutal and horrifying that the world collectively vowed to never allow a war like that to ever occur again. Many thought it would end the ideal of warfare it was so brutal.

Judging by the knowledge base of most of the people on the forums, it's time that something reminds people about it before it's forgotten. Maybe more of a necessity now because of our political climate.

The way the guy on the left of the GIF drops is horribly realistic. Like they've been in the wrecked threads on 4Chan and just animated some stuff. I like how they say it's brutal, that's literally all I wanted.

Yeah, I have to say I expected something a lot more somber and not this balls to the wall action with cool music

Ignoring the stuff shown outside of setting it looks like it could be cool. I'm not really a fan of WWI or WWII weapons and the like though but it could be interesting, I dunno. That name though is terrible. I hate this trend of making sequels with 1 or One at the end. I wait for the next entry The Battlefield and then Battlefield: Origins.

I wonder how historically accurate it will be. I mean it needs more the just french and british soldiers. It needs the Austro hungarian monarchy. I hope We will get to play with them.

Pls let the planes fly well. Battlefront was terrible

Are there really this many people that have only played Battlefront and not older Battlefield games?

The only thing Battlefront and Battlefield have in common is that you shoot stuff.

How the fuck are DICE releasing Star Wars Battlefront, Mirror's Edge Catalyst and Battlefield 1 all within a year?

How big is DICE?

As for Battlefield 1. It looks stunning as expected but Titanfall 2 is the one that has my interest.

that sounds like instead of visiting the fields of Verdun they just saw the latest Michael Bay movies in preparation of this game...

Speaking of women, I wonder if we'll be able to play as women for multiplayer? Almost every other AAA shooter allows it and I wonder if BF1 will follow suit? Going around the battlefield on horseback shooting fools as a badass women would be lit.

The game looks great but something about a dubstep rendition of a White Stripes song and the brutal clusterfuck that is the first World War seems off to me.

Battlefront did it, so I expect BF1 will follow.

Love it, looks absolutely spectacular and will get this on release day as I did with past Battlefield games.

But if you're reading this EA/DICE, is there any chance of changing the name before October? As a man in his mid 20's I don't want to be saying the phrase 'I can't wait to play Battlefield 1' or mentioning the words 'Battlefield' and 'one' in the same sentence. No I am not having it.

The name is just not my cup of tea to be honest.

Were womans allowed in the army in WW1? Doubt it really.
