Just wait until they put a Zapdos in Donald Trump's hair

We won't have to worry about him anymore because he'll be steamrolled by all the trainers

They're everywhere. I still can't get the fucking trainer account link to work so here I am in the dark while nerds everywhere are bumping into things while staring at their phones like idiots.

Alas...

It's going to take some time before proper etiquette starts to be established for this game.

What's unique about Pokemon Go that any conceivable situation isn't already covered by broader social etiquette? Sounds like what some Go players actually need to do is calm down and realise it's just a game. Or, to be more aggressive: Grow up, pull their heads in, and sort their shit out.

This whole pokemon go thing is starting to feel like the prelude of a zombie apocalypse story

It's the year 20XX

* Main protagonist of the story walks into the kitchen of his upper-middle class home to prepare breakfast *

* TV in the background shows news report on Pokemon GO *

News Anchor: "Pokemon GO developers Niantic have just announced that they will be pushing a 'new and exciting feature' to the popular AR app later today. With the game now installed on more than 70% of smart devices across the globe, many are now excitedly wondering what the new feature could be, and just how much more the phenomenon can grow. We'll bring you the details as they become available.

In other news the stock market has seen modest gai..."

* Main protagonist's partner enters the kitchen in a night gown, and drowns out the news report with discussion of how the protag has a long day ahead at work, but expects it to be relatively mundane *

* Protag leaves the house and gets in his company car. 'Niantic' is written across the door in bold letters *

I live just down the road from that spot. Went there yesterday afternoon and it was still packed.

Eventually someone yelled out that they found a new Pokemon across the street, so everyone started moving in a big group.

Crazy stuff.

Yep. Time for a reality check. Congregating in a public place at all hours of the night in a residential area is not and has never been acceptable. You wouldn't want people doing it outside your house, have a bit of fucking respect.

And to think. There are tweaks out there where u can trick the GPS into moving your location, skipping all this drama irl
Haha lazy gamers always find a way, I remember seeing GameSpot sitting like a bunch of couch potatoes flipping the wiimote in their lap to play Wii Sports tennis XD

Why is it annoying?

A group of people can't make that much noise. It's not like they're playing loud techno music or something.

I think you're underestimating just how loud 100+ people can be.

Picture what it's like in a mall food court. A comparable amount of people, no-one trying to be loud on purpose and quietly talking amongst themselves, but all those noises and conversations compound on each other and it builds up quite a fair bit of sound.

Then people need to talk louder to be heard amongst themselves, the overall sound gets louder, and so on and so forth.

My fantasy is that my girlfriend was actually a young high school girl.
I was riding my bicycle through that park last Sunday evening and noticed an unusual amount of people there all looking at their phones. I thought they were taking photos of the beautiful sunset and that they should get a life... But this Pokemon shit is even worse, they weren't even looking at what's happening around them (ie, the beautiful sunset).

Don't get me wrong I don't mind video games obviously or even Pokemon go, but the lengths a LOT people go to for some things is crazy.

The only people that can do anything about this is Niantic and have them move poke spots to areas that aren't located in living spaces or controversial ones like the news keeps bringing up now.

A group of 1000 people? That's pretty much the capacity of your run of the mill nightclub. It's insanity. Imagine if you packed your entire high school in one park.

The sun sets every day - that Blastoise might never appear again. Priorities, bro.

That's your actual response to people wanting to take a picture of a sunset? Hahahahaha

Hundreds of people can't make that much noise?

Lmaooooooo

Throwing water balloons?
What about ear plugs?
I guess I have a high tolerance for noise if it's not ultra repetitive.
The game isn't even out since one week, I think it's a bit premature to call the cops already.
Low tolerance IMO.

Are there any sort of curfew/noise laws in the area? I understand being upset, but the police should have been option A instead of throwing things at people and possibly make things worse.

Throw a few in a tank for a while, put some notices up, and everyone else will get the picture quick.

Edit: Large groups of people are noisy. It doesn't matter how open an area it is or how quiet a number attempt to be.

Why are there 100's of people standing around? Just grab the shit and go?

Well if they keep putting lures up there then I guess they're farming the rarer Pokémon that are spawning.

I think Niantic could do with tweaking the distribution of Pokémon types.

Are you fucking kidding me? 1000 people make fuckloads of noise and they shouldn't have to get ear plugs at night fuck that shit. Its called noise pollution and it is within their rights to call the cops.

1000 people outside my place of residence, making noise, late at night, where I'm trying to sleep after a long day at work would instantly get a call to the cops.

No one should have to put in ear plugs because of a bunch of idiotic dweebs without social awareness want to play a mobile game.

I'm not sure what exactly about that is so shocking to you.
