Really hoping getting this on PC doesn't bite me. All my friends will be on PS4, the vibe they are giving is no player interaction, but still...

I bet it'll end up where you start on a planet with a broken ship and have to get resources to fix it. Seems like an easy way to teach people how to use resources, inventory and objectives

This is what he said about that...

Without giving away any spoilers you will have some work to do in order to get out into space.

I almost get nauseas talking about it. I should have played the damn thing at least tonight and took it to the PO in the morning

We must 'do work' fellas. Aug 9th yet?

Ugh, I forget some of you fucks use NeoGAF's light theme instead of the clearly better Dark Theme. I have to make sure the |OT| is the optimal experience on both. Goddmamn you all. :p

That said, I'm just gonna sit here blasting Super Moon on repeat while working on it.

Is the soundtrack out or just this song? I see you uploaded it.

Ha, I'm a light theme user to the death :p
Good luck with making the OT Legacy!

What about the preorder ship? Does it let you move on early?

Also, I'm considering taking a paid sick day. I did schedule a full paid week back in June for the original release but I decided to keep it to spend time with my wife and get the baby room ready.

Just make sure the title is |OT| Hello? Is anybody out there?

Do not remember who said it earlier, but it was perfect, lol.

Correct there should be no player interaction in terms of seeing each other etc. They could be at the exact same coordinates as you but it will be a separate instance. The connected parts are more for pulling in other people's discoveries etc.

So if you think itd be cool to see what your friends are finding you will probably be a okay on pc.

From Steam

Kickstart your adventure in No Man's Sky's vast, mysterious universe with the Horizon Omega ship, equipped with an upgraded hyperdrive and increased firepower to help you travel faster and survive longer on your interstellar journey.

Not sure what you mean, you can absolutely interact with another player character in the rare instance that you find yourself on the same area of space/planet in the 18 quintillion planets available. Sean mentioned it would almost be a Journey like interaction. The statistical likelihood of this happening though is very slim, so the general "interaction" between other players is mostly through the discovery panel/ atlas.

Does anyone know if there is some sort of 'cross-play' as in shared server instances?

If so, would definitely help the chances, even still very remote early on.

Spounds like the most likely scenario. If that's the case, there must be a variable switched on to label a planet as a 'starter' to make sure it's seeded with enough resources to get this accomplished.

Indeed, but Sean said some people will have a better experience than others. I am ready to get screwed over lol.

My hypothesis is that the preorder ship has to be picked up from the first space station that's near the starter planet.

Obviously I don't know for sure but I would guess that it just replaces the broken starter ship with a broken version of that one. I imagine repairing your ship will serve as a tutorial and intro to scanning / resource gathering / crafting.

It's probably when you hit your first "Ship vendor" you can swap out the starter ship with the preorder ship. I guess we'll know for sure shortly.

Thanks. They (twins) are due sometime in December. Honestly it feels like NMS is the perfect game for that situation. I'm considering cancelling my BF1 and COD preorders and just getting NMS and Pokémon Sun. As I doubt that I'll have much time to play anything for more than a few stretches of 15 minutes at a time.

Good. Light text on a dark background hurts my eyes after a while.

Well are these your first? I'd keep call of duty or bf1(not both). You can jump into a few matches for either. It's what I did. But yea nms will be perfect for the situation.

an unopened game

*Looks at shelf of unopened games*

*Walks away slowly*

OT: Getting No Man's Sky day 1 isn't going to help that shelf at all. Gonna need to build a bigger shelf. Or stop buying games I don't have time to play (crazy talk). Amazon pre-order discounts are the best/worst thing to happen to Canada.

Yep, these are our first (and final). We planned on having two kids, and well, we got them.
I planned on one..yet here I am again lol! Funny thing is her due date is...
August 9th! Lol. She makes fun of me all the time. "Guess your universe will have to wait, better bring the ps4 to the hospital" lol

if we pre order the game on PSN, can we download it early to play it when it release ?

That's the general idea. Download it immediately at Midnight (well 3AM if you are EST)

And not need to wait for stores to open or for your copy to be delivered in the mail.

I'm mostly just worried about Image Quality. I love that it's 60 FPS, so I wont complain. I'm just concerned with smudgey graphics.

And the real time lighting is fucking fantastic. So that minimizes any reason for me to complain.

Story of my life, hahaha. I still buy them, and I am going to build a bigger shelf. Build it, BUILD IT!

NMS will be taking up so much of my gaming time. So much so, I may double dip on the digital version, (Have LE coming). That way I can just jump right in while other physical games are in the drive.

I assumed it would be, but has it been confirmed 60fps?

So I have GCU, and the best buy website also has a digital download version of the game,(one of the few times they do) for sale as well. I know the discount doesn't apply to digital.

I know if I do physical I'll be waiting till literally 5pm est for the delivery of the game. The odd ball is digital, as I guess the launch is midnight pst? What would you do if in my shoes?

I'm a collector so I always go physical. Depends on if you wanna save money or if you want to wait til 5pm. I'm in the same boat, UPS seems to save my house for last when I'm really anticipating something, other days they're here at noon. =/

Launch is 12 am EST. So Pacific coast people should be able play at 9 pm. If you're just getting the standard version, I'd go digital.

Has anyone found out if you can fully pause the game while in online mode, or do you need to switch to offline mode to pause?

I don't think anything has changed on that front. There is no pausing. Maybe if you go out to the home screen it will.

Sean has said that they are "targeting" it, but the person that played it yesterday said that his first planet was a smooth 60 with no drops.

Not for sure. We do know that if you're crafting, the game does not pause while the menu is up.

If you don't have a ship, you probably start off on a planet with nothing and you have to wander around until you find a suit/gun/ship.

Seems the most plausible guess.

That's interesting for some reason I thought you start of with a ship but it needs parts that you have to go find.

Not sure where I got that from though probably just pulled it out my ass.

Has there been any word on review embargoes / dates? Is anyone getting access to this early to play? If it truly is playable completely offline, I imagine some of the press being able to toy around with it a bit before the server implementation goes live on release date. I'm getting this day 1 already, but part of my infatuation with this game is following along with the community at large when this finally hits. I can't wait to hear about everyones starting stories and discoveries.

Where did he day it?

Can't quite remember, and can't be bothered to find the source ATM.

I mean the user with the retail game.

This is a page or two back. This is what he PM'ed me on OS. This was the guy who had the game yesterday, which after I posted it here, blew up on Reddit and the like (with pretenders I noticed as well).

This is what he PM'ed me on his 'graphics' comment, and my response.

CAMPBLACKMAMBA24 said:
Graphics were Last-Gen like. Nothing like say The Witcher 3 or Uncharted 4. You will hear the complaints trust me.

Couldn't tell as far as the fps.

Awesome thanks. Did not expect those types of graphics, obviously for something of this scope. This game will be about art direction more so, and the touches in weather effects, day/night cycles, etc..

From the videos I seen, I am very content, but I know what you mean about those who are expecting AAA service from a small dev team on such a ambitious type of game.

This was the original post I posted here, which spawned people to ask what he meant with the graphics comment, and if he noticed 30fps or 60fps.

CAMPBLACKMAMBA24 said:
My quick impressions

1. Don't expect mind-blowing graphics out the box

2. Don't expect to take off flying when the game starts. Must put in work

3. Game was extremely smooth. No frame rate issues at all

4. Expect to possibly not fire up another game for a while. I could tell in my short time that this game is gonna destroy some relationships and happy homes.

Again I apologize for bringing the hype this evening. I should of just kept it to myself but no way in hell did I expect this kind of offer.

I will leave you all with this picture. Be strong fellas it's just 10 more days

I usually assume 60 when someone says, 'extremely smooth'. However, The Order, UC4, Destiny and the like are also, 'extremely smooth' at 30.

Also keep in mind, the forum is primarily made up of 'sports fans and sports gaming fans'... not as technically endowed hardcore wise, as a place like NeoGAF or Reddit would have in the populace.
