Gameblog.fr: PS4 Neo to be announced on September 7 in New York

I'm not even sure what this is supposed to mean. MS just released a more expensive machine that is still weaker than the PS4...and that's selling quite well apparently. And Neo will have ~9 months+ head start - much like the X360 did on the 'more powerful' PS3.

So yeah, what's your point!?
The point is that the neo will probably be weaker than the Scorpio, people will probably skip the neo to get the Scorpio and then wait for the ps5.

There will be a night and day difference between Xbox 1 and Scorpio because spec wise the x1 was never something to really write home about. The public has deemed it the "weaker" system.

Don't know if the difference is big enough yet between ps4 and Neo, most people I would imagine would just hold onto their current ps4.

That's what I'm getting out of all of this talk.

Get Inside Her!
Gimme gimme gimme. Waited on getting a PS4 cause there wasn't anything I cared enough about playing to get one, but this fall all my Big Guns are finally droppin, need me a juiced-up box to play em at their best yep yep.

Huh. Well, hopefully it's true. Not that I'll be getting one, but as a gamer in general, it's pretty exciting to think of, both it and the Scorpio.

I can believe September. Makes enough sense.

I'm into this less for the gaming enhancements, more because I now have a 4k tv and need a 4k player and I'd rather not have another device taking up another plug/port.

I just wish they'd make a less embarrassing media remote.

i can tell you at least for me, that your assumptions are completely wrong...

- I just dont have as much time to game anymore, so multiple consoles are a waste for me, last gen i had a PS3, 360, and a Wii...now just a PS4

- With that being said, and having been a PS4 only owner up to this point, ive invested in Sony's ecosystem heavily for the past 2 generations, i see no reason to switch to MS, for Scorpio just to switch back when the PS5 releases

- MS' new stance towards releasing their exclusive titles on PC as well makes the Xbox almost irrelevant to me. If i want any Xbox exclusive titles that badly ill get off my ass and build that new PC ive been holding off on building

will i be buying a Neo? im not sure...right now in 50/50...but i do know i wont be buying a Scorpio

Of course; I was only suggesting the reason why they would choose New York as ground zero.

ouch...poor choice of words for NYC...

erm ok, so to clarify, 2.5x the power and keeping all your games/friends/etc not worth it, but 4x the power and starting from scratch is worth it?

I agree the Neo is weaker than Scorpio, but there's too many unknowns at this time (like price and release dates) - Neo will likely give all games a nice boost and then some games will get a Neo upgrade patch on top...why I would skip that and wait for Scorpio I have no idea.

Come on 3 million+ PS4 sales is hardly a lost cause.
Yeah. If Japan is a lost cause so is the UK, Germany, France, most of EU, Canada, and I can keep going.

Launching revised models in September seems to be a Sony thing as of late. They launched the PS3 slim in September.

Pretty much spot on, there's almost no reason to get Scorpio when I can just upgrade my PC and get the best of both worlds.

I wonder how the console will look like. I remember House mentioning (when the PS4 console itself was revealed) that House had to choose between two designs, the PS4 we know and some other unknown design.

I wonder if House has a new design to choose from or will he choose from other ones already made.

I remember that! I was always curious to see the other design.

So nothing yet from any other outlet at this point?

Still think the timing makes perfect sense, but the longer we go without confirmation from other outlets, the less likely this is accurate imo.

Idk, I'm a gamer I don't ride with just one company and neither do my friends so I guess I wouldn't be starting from scratch (but some people would and I understand their hesitation to get both) and I'll be able to play my Xbox one games on there. Price doesn't matter if performance puts Sony in the under performing category until ps5.

I see it like this
Scorpio > Neo
Ps5 > Scoprio
Scorpio 2.0 > PS5 etc etc etc

and that's the market cycle I see happening.
It's possible Sony pulled the trigger too soon (imo) with neo, time will tell

So you do have time to game after all.

Price DOES matter especially in the US. Power alone doesn't get casuals or even hardcore gamers to buy a system it's always software. Hence why the more powerful, year late Xbox didn't do well against the PS2.

Good news for those upgrading. I'll skip the Neo myself and await the PS5 generation. Not going to justify my wallet to either Sony or MS that mid gen upgrades are OK in life. If the Neo is like dirt cheap close to PS5 reveal, then I'll buy for novelty maybe.

3840 × 2160. Anything else is upscaled. I don't care about framebuffer or whatever. Native means it was processed at this resolution. Otherwise it's upscaled.

What if native isn't the most effective way to render things at a resolution?

Out of nowhere.

.

The blog is hinting that something might happen, regarding PS4 very soon (Aug-Sep)

Price drop or new model

So multiple retailers are actually telling PS4 shortage is incoming. And like some here posted reports are floating around saying Sony already stopped PS4 shipment to some retail channels.

Sounds like a reasonable time to raise the curtains. Let the anticipation build, Sony, people are watching/interested.
