July 2016 NPD (U.S. Hardware) Predictions - Closes August 9th

I'm glad they lost. NPD is not as fun as it used to be. Hope they win next month as well. Also, still no Uncharted 4 sales? What's taking Sony so long.

Xbox One outsold the PS4 in July so now harware sales matter again for Microsoft instead of those precious MAUs.

That's what I wanted to know

Also Xbox One S 2TB is nearly sold out in US.

I would hope the PS4 is down. They confirmed the Neo so it makes sense sales should reflect that.

I honestly doubt that the little confirmations they've done has any effect at all on the marketplace at large. They may have some effect on the hardcore community, but they already have a PS4.

Also funny how now all of a sudden console sales matter to MS.

Makes all those defending MAU seem funny too.

No it doesnt. Where did you read that they gave out hardware number because they won?

Well they are not going to say they are number 2 when they lose...

Sony unfortunately, are in a bad spot until the NEO conference, they can't lower the price of OG PS4 or do anything to mitigate Xbox S's momentum until September. They better come with a blowout for NEO presentation cause my guess is they have no equivalent Slimline version like MS does

I think Sony doesn't bother with that.
Yea whatever gap they lose by in these two months they will make it up in September alone and if neo releases in September as well then they would get a massive bump

Don't think they really care right now. I'm sure PS4 is selling well enough at the current rice point and their margins are fine.

All they really need to do is announce a price drop for the OG model when they announce the Neo. That's it. Enthusiasts pick up Neo and a $300 PS4 leading into the holidays will do it's job.

Sooo $100 cheaper(+store promotions) and barely able to edge out its competitor? Lol They'll surely win August because of all the pent up sells from June/July.

Some people might crucify me for this, but I always thought Greenberg and Major Nelson were hypocrites.

Anyway, still waiting for the numbers. Expecting a small gap either way, probably less than 15K

August is a given imo. What I'd like to know is if Sony can put Neo on store shelves by late September/early October. If they manage to do it Ps4 will win the holidays by a landslide imo.

I might be crazy but unless Neo is at a great price I cant see it making a huge impact . Really don't see many people picking up the premium version vs the cheaper still capable regular PS4. It could come out at for a great price and be a really good value

I don't think anyone is expecting Neo to start outselling the OG model especially if the OG model gets a price cut.

I'm hoping the Neo price is $400. That is imo the sweet spot that could get existing owners to upgrade.
