PS4 Slim Unboxing Video

The two things I care about are:

1. How is the noise
2. How is the wireless?

If its exactly like the base model, this is a pointless upgrade to me.

Same as the OG. Maybe slightly quieter just because a small process node normally generates less heat.

Same as the OG.

Temper your expectations. Take one look at the case and that will tell you how much effort they are putting into this.

This is a cheaply made, cheap PS4. If you want improvements, buy a Neo. It is what it is.

With the power LED lit, standing vertically it should look like this.

Damn I like it

I hope the Neo is similar in design

I could care less about how this console looks. This is not the revision I'll be getting. The Neo is gonna be my choice and it will no doubt be bigger than this. The only real thing I'm interested in on the slim is the controller because it is likely gonna be the same controller on the Neo. Please please please come with better battery life. I'm not one of those big complainers on the subject but if Sony is releasing a new version of the controller then they should also take the time to improve the battery life. Also, on the off chance that Sony might release a higher quality controller for the Neo it self, I would be very happy.

Sony are masters of hardware, and MS are masters of software. Though MS did great work with the XB1 S.

As someone who has used windows and Xbox I'm inclined to disagree. If anything they've proven their hardware chops with surface which usually always have software complaints.

And xb1 dash is worse and slower than ps4.

They've always done great hardware with few exceptions like rrod 360.

You've tried it firsthand? :O

Video is still here.
The console looks really good to me.
It looks a lot like the PS3 Slim 2009 being mostly matte but with the basic PS4 design.
Of course the point is to offer this at cheaper price for the mainstream market.

Looks very good, holding out for the neo though.

Which makes me wonder... maybe the Sony Conf in September will be the slim reveal and not the neo :(

Because history has told us that gamers love being forced to let go of the past and move into the future.

Gamers like improvements. Microsoft tried to hide downgrades by calling them improvements, like forced always online, and no one fell for it because we are not retards.

This looks fantastic. Not sure why people don't like it.

It's better looking than the original model.

I think this is why companies try to avoid leaks. The first batch of photos and images weren't very flattering at all, but now a proper video has come out with good lighting, it shows that this console is much more attractive than first anticipated.

I really like it now, too.

And removing something that evidently a lot of people here are using isn't a downgrade?

Gamers have already moved on, they aren't being forced.

It's like if a laptop manufacturer removed the CD drive. No one would miss it.

But take away something people still use (headphone jacks), and people will let you know. Very loudly.

Sony are not inviting press from all over the world just to announce this.

The Slim will take up the first 10 minutes and everything else will be Neo.

In a real video it seems like a great looking console. Still has that peculiar Ps4 slant, it is much slimmer. It's not just a simple rounded box like it seemed to be in still pictures.

I keep reading comments about the optical port being dead and that 'nobody uses it'.

Does anyone have any data to back up this claim?

This is what I am hoping for.

I am thinking the ps4 slim will be cheaper, maybe $250ish? and then neo around $400-$500?

It's a downgrade but the point is that the Slim isn't made for the users that already have a PS4, is for who haven't already bought one.
It's a weird decision for sure, especially because is gonna kill the third party peripherals.

PS4 has optical audio out. IIRC it was not made in the 90's.

They probably should have begun to phase it out with the original PS3, then these people with expensive headphones wouldn't be put out now.

Either way optical is 90's tech and it needs to go eventually. If the headphone manufacturers follow suit then everyone will be better off in the long run.

So is this real o not? Are we getting all the leaks from the same person or are there multiple leaks? Anyone talked about price?

Looks great in this video, especially held vertical. There's a screw thread for a new vertical stand.

LOOK AT THE IMAGE IN THE PREVIOUS POST
This looks awesome. If the wait for Neo is going to be a longer one, I will get this, slam a 1TB SSD into it and play so much Destiny.

It doesn't matter if you have an OG PS4 or not, if you're using optical audio in your peripherals and your media set up (which many people do), then this is going to be a kick in the nuts - no matter whether some random on the internet tells you it's 90s tech or not.

surface pro* runs hot has low battery life and a poor ventilation system. it looks nice, sure, but it's functionally a bit crap
