How's this for imagery?
For anybody questioning if the cracked cases are Amazon's shipping fault, I can definitively confirm that it (mine at least) was damaged like this prior to shipping. The watch was sealed inside of a plastic bag, which didn't seem abnormal to me at the time, but upon opening it I realized that it was done because the giant missing piece caused the black bottom cover to come off.
And because of the seal, I know that the missing piece of plastic was never in the package to begin with, nor was the bottom cover, nor was the missing metal clasp or B button which had all fallen out before being re-sealed.
It's a cool, functional watch! Just with a bad strap. Mine is missing the display stand anyways. Any reason not to, besides value?
So this is pretty cool.
...Except I didn't get anything. I live in an apartment and I checked the office and they say UPS hasn't even been by yet today. So why did UPS scan my package delivered?
Goddamnit.
I got mine in the mail today. The case didn't have any cracks, only a few scuff marks. The watch itself looks fine except for the fact that the "mirrored" display overlay fell off and is in 5 pieces...so close.
Thank you very much for understanding what I was trying to say and putting into words that are definitely easier to understand than my big wall of text. He's saying they're not 100% responsible, not that they aren't responsible, the manufacturing was out of their hand, they're not a huge company who can have a division for manufacturing+packaging. Publishing involves numerous steps, manufacturing isn't something they evidently, had control over. The roundabout method Amazon have used to get the watches to their customers is at fault for the import fees & shipping it in a bubble mailer may have caused damage to the casing+watch.
That's not much of a solution if you have to hope they refund it later and you still get charged up front for it (and therefore lose on the bank exchange rate because credit cards always charge you more for foreign currency and give you less for the same currency when you get a refund).
Is everyone paying for shipping? I'm in Canada and the cheapest shipping option seems to be $5.49 which would be very reasonable if it wasn't for me paying for shipping for this order already. I feel I have not messed up so it is not I who should pay the additional shipping charges.
So this is pretty cool.

I imagine it's included in the refund you'll be getting for the import charges.

Yeah, that and having to pay shipping for it is pretty dumb too...
oh boy, my watch must be here! "sees key in mailbox to indicate there's a package for me in the bigger mailbox" Well, okay, weird, didn't think it'd be that big, but oh well, maybe they put it in with my B&N order.
..........nope, wtf. Amazon said it'd be here today, especially considering I ordered using Prime.
"Updated Delivery Day: Monday, September 12"
"Arrived at Post Office Sept. 10, 11:05 a.m."
So is it arriving today or not, because my mail already arrived & I don't know when my apartment suburb gets the mail, I just get it when I wake up around 2 or 3 p.m.
Is this like how some people seem to be getting everything and some people get Mike H who shuts down the chat and tells you that he's going to charge you extra for wasting his time? lolThey waived my shipping fee too.
Why would it be? I can't see any reason to believe this would be part of some automated process. Import charges are normally refunded unless the customs process goes "wrong" but I haven't seen any indication of shipping charges being refunded.

Of course Gamestop just shipped the watches to people who ordered the game without having to do this whole separate order thing... which would have been the smart way to do it.Well the shipping fees got waived by my first support chat but they said they couldn't do anything about the import fees, I was actually just inquiring on the status of my watch during which I noticed the amazon voucher email. The next day after I ordered the watch I complained about the import fees using bamboo's conversation as a template and they responded that this will get refunded later.
Have you ordered the watch already? If not I recommend contacting support and seek an alternative solution where you don't have the insane import fees. If you have I guess you will have to take a small hit on the exchange rate and complain to support for some compensation for all your troubles.
As far as I understand and see the distribution of watches has been a complete clusterfuck, but for me personally I'm happy with the current solution put forward by Amazon. It is not ideal but I only recently started contacting support regarding the watch issues. I also really want to have that watch and have always been willing to pay a little extra to finally get it.
Just complain to get the shipping waived, additionally Amazon has indicated to me that the import fees will be systematically be refunded for all customers who ordered the bonus watch
Just realized that there is no doubt all the watches we're getting are broken ones from original batch and seperated from the bundle.
The ones they sold at anime expo three months ago all had zero time dilemma stickers or manual/insert facing the front on'em.

Should I place the order and then contact cs? Or chat with them first and then order? In canada for reference

Got mine in today and the box has a few cracks, but everything else looks ok. On one hand, this whole thing has been handled very poorly by Aksys, but on the other, complaining to Amazon got me enough credits that this game was pretty much free. Still, I do now have the complete trilogy of watches.
