Weird. I didn't see the notification on my phone unless I bypassed it using my phone. Elizabeth isn't that far from me and I wonder if the dude is stupid enough to try the Holland or Lincoln Tunnels at some point if he hasn't.

Saying this does a lot of harm too.

There's no need to preemptively frame the issue as a 'win' for Trump. And it's annoying seeing these asinine scorecards as if there's some contest for saying "this is gonna help Trump" first.

He is only stating what some media outlets will run with.

I have full confidence in the US police unlike the french police where they weren't allowed to raid the attackers house on the night of the attack because it was already too late at night, raids are only allowed beginning 9am in the morning :/

Really? That's a crazy fucking policy. Is it only when there is strong uncertainty or just a blanket rule that would prevent them from entering a house with known terrorists until the time is convenient for everyone?

He is only stating what some media outlets will run with.

I'm sure it will come up, but I've never seen anywhere like GAF where the first hope with these types of situations is that the suspect fits a profile convenient or beneficial to their political views. It's always struck me as a gross way to react. For some it seems like the actual victims are an afterthought and it's just about having the group they like least to blame like a perverse scorecard.

That's why there's due process.

The alert clearly says suspect.

But the Internet being judge, jury and executioner we forget this.

You don't want them to be wrong of course but when they release info like this on a "suspect" it means tfrom a law enforcement perspective they are really sure.

"Person of interest" = suspect

"Suspect" = target / he's the guy

Any idea what he was targeting in NYC? The one device that went off, went off inside a dumpster, but what exactly is around?

Let them run with it rather than preemptively trying to "call it"

It's an annoying unsubstantiated "common sense" option which isn't based in fact, is not relevant and plays out some contest like posting "first!" On the YouTube video

Well the job of law enforcement is to arrest him.

That's it. The rest is done by other legal entities.

That is impossible to believe.

Hopefully, this guy is caught quickly and interrogated.

One device was targeting a charity run but when went off "early" because the run was delayed.

Nope. I heard speculation about the Elizabeth package possibility being a dump rather than something planned. Like he was trying to bail.

They've been looking at this guy since September and raided his or his parents house yesterday. My guess is they fear him running and want to have 8 million pairs of eyes
In relation to other areas of the city, not much, honestly.
Yeah. It's almost unnerving how that's a weird area to attack. Though if he's from new Jersey there's a path station right near where the bomb went off.

Agree. The location was odd. The dumpster bomb seems like it was placed on the ground and someone thought it was garbage and moved it into the dumpster. May have saved some lives through that move.

I also got a notification on my phone. Glad to see the authorities are on it and hopefully they can catch this guy asap. Truth be told this is very worrisome if the tri-state area has some terrorist cell running around planting IEDs.

That's interesting. I remember a blog by a local Commie state sec boss. Once he described the way raids worked. They were by default starting at 6 am to make sure everyone was home and reduce complaints at cops messing things up due to things owner being elsewhere.

Is it wise to name this guy?

Shouldn't they you know, track him down in secret first.

They want to catch him before he goes to ground. If the dude had any sense he would have gone into hiding as soon as the bombs went out.

Releasing his info and working on tips is the best way to catch someone who might be on the run or trying to flee the country.

Sometimes people on the ground is the best way to catch someone. Even if he is laying low, he's gonna have to interact with other people at some point unless he has assistance. You issue the alert and people in the area are going to be more vigilant. Instead of shrugging off something that seems weird, they'll call the police.

Based on Trumps initial statement "we better get very tough folks", I think the comment is fairly accurate. I don't think Trump was being general at all.

why would he even do this right now? does he want Trump to win?

Wut? This dude is a terrorist; he doesn't give a shit about this country. Are you saying terrorists should wait until Clinton is elected? I'm guessing you misphrased what you wanted to say because otherwise, it's asinine.

I doubt they think about such things. However, Trump will be more insufferable than usual, I am sure
.
I suspect that someone angry enough to risk ruining his life, and possibly his family's, has more on his mind than Presidential politics. I'm sure there are some in AlQaeda/ISIS who would like to see Trump win for the propaganda value it would give them, but I doubt this guy cares either way.

I hate having to point this out but clinton called it terrorism this weekend
“I strongly condemn the apparent terrorist attacks in Minnesota, New Jersey, and New York. I pray for all of those who were wounded, and for their families. Once again, we saw the bravery of our first responders who run toward danger to help others. Their quick actions saved lives. Law enforcement officials are working to identify who was behind the attacks in New York and New Jersey and we should give them the support they need to finish the job and bring those responsible to justice - we will not rest until that happens. ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack in Minnesota, and this should steel our resolve to protect our country and defeat ISIS and other terrorist groups. I have laid out a comprehensive plan to do that. This includes launching an intelligence surge to help identify and thwart attacks before they can be carried out, and to spot lone wolf attackers. We also need to work with Silicon Valley to counter propaganda and recruitment efforts online. Americans have faced threats before, and our resilience in the face of them only makes us stronger. I am confident we will once again choose resolve over fear.”

Hey you know why people always say "this helps Trump?"

Because the democrats don't have a great answer for foreign-born terrorism. Trump has a crazy, extreme answer (round them up, kick them out, stop immigration), but at least he has an answer.

Clinton's response was really weak. DiBlasio was weirdly avoiding calling it terrorism, instead calling it "intentional."

The Mayor is on MSNBC. Seems like there's definitely a cell in the area.

Nothing confirmed about other devices despite a phone call threat. Also said they stopped a car on the Verrazano Bridge and it was connected.

you better believe:

PARIS — The authorities in Belgium said on Wednesday that one of the Paris attackers may have been holed up in a house in Brussels two nights after 130 people were killed and hundreds more injured — but that he could have escaped because of a law banning police raids on private homes from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., according to the country’s justice minister.

It was in Belgium though, still ....

Clinton doesn't have an answer for murder! Clinton doesn't have an answer for sexual violence! Clinton doesn't have an answer for financial crimes.

Crimes happen. She has a plan though people are still going to commit crimes.

And I literally posted her plan which is far more detailed than trunps

There was someone on the news this morning saying that she thought it looked like something a kid would do, so you may be right that someone thought it was garbage. The bombs in Jersey were found by a couple homeless people rummaging through a garbage bin.
