Rez Infinite |OT| Fear is the Mind Killer-App

Anywhere to listen to the OST? The Area X track is incredible but I can't find it anywhere.

I think we'll need to wait for iam8bit to sell them. They had the "buy OST from iam8bit" in the Area X credits. I'm guessing maybe we'll see CDs soon. Still weird only the vinyl OST is available.

the one that walks on the wall right? so i guess i should kill the blue one for the alt boss then. was wondering how to get there.

I'm not sure that's the actual trigger, just the only thing I can recall doing obviously differently. Will try to confirm tonight with a few more playthroughs.

In my experience, the coloured walker you kill first in Area X determines the next one that spawns and the final boss form.

Tried the PSVR demo for this last night. It was smooth, high-resolution, and head-tracked Rez, but I'm a little disappointed at how big everything seems to be. I didn't get much of a sense of depth as a result, and I even wonder if the game respects positional tracking at all.

Also there were situations where the audio... hiccuped? Slowed down? I don't know, it was strange.

2 questions:

1) Is it still possible to buy this and get the theme in EU?

2) I don't have a PS4 atm as I sold it to fund a Pro. If 1) is still possible, is it worth getting it now for the theme? Is the theme worth it?

Similar question to above, is it possible to still get the theme and avatars in NA, or is it too late for that?

I pre-ordered from iam8bit and now I'm thinking I don't want to wait for that to arrive... I really wanted the theme and avatars.

The preorder bundle version of Rez Infinite's still listed on the UK store but I don't know if you can still buy it.

I checked my US account and it's not listed at all.

If anyone wants to approximate the trance suit effect and money is not a major issue, I highly recommend picking up a SubPac.

I have the old seat back cushion type and it works fantastically. Just plug the audio output from the PSVR headset into the SubPac and run the headphones from the SubPac. The positional audio stays intact. The SubPac turns bass frequencies into vibration and it has enough power to really kick (intensity is adjustable on the fly).

Stunning experience all round.

Did everybody get their theme :p ?

No, actually - I took too long waffling between the physical and digital versions because of iam8bit screwing the pooch and missed the pre-order cutoff. :(

It looks so awesome in videos, though - I'm bummed I missed out on it, as Rez is one of my favorite games of all time! Any idea if there are plans to sell the theme separately down the line?

First time playing Rez. Loving it but this final boss is ABSURD.
There is some trick to making it more manageable. I remember reading somewhere that you're only really supposed to be shooting at (I THINK, and someone please correct me!) pulsing rockets, as those are the only ones that will eventually hit you. Knowing that really made that boss fight easier (still not very easy at all mind you)

Area X is one of the best things I played on PS4. Its perfect.

But its also a cock tease. Its pretty much a Rez 2 sample. I'd pay top dollar for a full game of this.

Finishing Boss Rush was easier than I expected, it seems to lower the difficulty, just as Direct Assault increases it. I never really messed around with these extra modes on PS2.

Halfway through Area X I realized that tears were streaming down my face. It didn't get any easier after that.

If you preordered, the theme and avatars are just available on the respective selection screens in the OS, you dont need to download anything from PSN.

How many hours is this game?

It's an on-rails, arcade-esque game that originally releases in 2000 on Dreamcast. As other users have reported, a playthrough of the main 5 stages takes approximately 60-75 minutes, but the game is designed to be replayable for higher performance gains -- ie higher scores.

Area X is about 15-20 minutes, which was introduced in this version only.

There's a few extra modes like a Boss Rush, or a straight-run mode (combines all 5 stages into a single run rather than selecting them individually, basically a survival mode). There's even a mode that unlocks where you're invincible and can't die, if you're just wanting to play to enjoy the experience -- it's also a good way to practice and learn better play patterns for when you want to shoot for high scores/higher completion rate.

I tend to think that this game and Starfox 64 are kind of the best of the best in terms of "3rd-person on-rails arcade" shooters out there, with Rez being far more distinctive due to its rhythm-based design. The game kind of molds all of your actions into the rhythm of the music, making it feel like almost everything you do is contributing to the experience.

I personally highly recommend it, even at the full $29.99 price tag and if you don't have VR, but especially if you've picked up a PSVR.

Wow.

Just...wow.

Area X is quite possibly the most stunningly beautiful thing i've ever seen in a videogame.

I'd kill for a Rez 2 with that sort of stuff in it.

I was about to order it from iam8bit but they want $15 for shipping to Alaska... Shipping from and to Alaska via USPS is identical to the prices within the lower 48 :/ Bummer.
I sucked it up and ordered it. I hope it's as good as you guys make it sound. I've never played Rez before, but I rather pay a bit more and have something unique than play another generic shooter/open world game. Now the waiting game begins..

Finally got a chance to play this today.

Im so glad I avoided anything regarding Area X. Its been a while since a game literally made by jaw drow, probably since the original Rez release on the Dreamcast.

Not that I know.
But they talked about the theme on 8-4 and apparently another theme is coming that is based on Area X.

Oh - why would you not make it available separately? That just seems weird. Although the UK store still has the preorder bundle listed, it only lets me add to my wish list so I can't buy it - only the standard version.

I'd happily pay for it - I'm a sucker for a good dynamic theme

Anyway to contact the dev? I hppe they will add the extra grapgic option from the 360 version and let me use the move controller as trance vibrator

Wouldn't it be cool if someone who had insight on the themes would hang around here? ;)

Finished my first playthrough of all the areas with 95%+ shootdown on all stages. Guess I've still got it. :)

The new stage is pretty decent. It isn't as mind-bending as timeless as the original levels. It's fun in its own right and introduces some nice concepts even though they're not explored to their fullest. They could have done something more with the concept even though it's fun to see REZ in a modern interpretation.

Area 1-5 is still perfect as is. Will be replaying this game on and off now for the next couple of years. Such a timeless classic.

Now I only need FFXII to release and I've got every game I want from the PS2 era on other consoles (except SH2 but I've given up hope there.)

Area X in VR is seriously incredible.

First time finishing REZ anyway though. Played a few levels years ago but never finished. Gorgeous game in VR.

Been waiting since the PS3 days to play this again. Ordered it from iam8bit, so the wait will be a bit longer it seems. This is on my short list for classic games I love that need to be ported to modern consoles. The only reason I still have my PS3 is because of the games on that list and because Sony has been sheisty with avoiding backwards compatibility and making you pay for a subscription streaming service that doesn't even have a very good selection of games.
