They're like Valve desperately trying to come up with ways to release Half-Life games without an implied 3 in the title.

Or it really just isn't Red Dead 3 given Rockstar's history.

Fall 2017 is so far away but Im already incredibly hyped. RDR was one of my favorite games of the last gen and after seeing how great GTA V's world was, I look forward to RDR

3 reason why it's not coming to PC yet:

1. Pirating
2. Need time to work on the best version.
3. Mods

Them releasing the PC version of any of their big games months/years after the initial console release has continued to work well for them. There was zero reason to expect anything different this time around.

If this is a prequel how would having a female in the gang make sense? Unless Rockstar retcons their own story to shoehorn one in? Unless I missed something... was there a female member of the gang?
Of course this is assuming from the picture this may be story before John is you know...

As far as I remember, Dutch's gang was him, Bill Williamson, Javier Escuela and John Marston, and Abigail was with them but was a prostitute basically, and not an actual gang member. They never mentioned any other members.

Seriously that they called it Red Dead Redemption 2? What a mouthful! Should have been Red Dead R...something. Everyone and their mothers know this franchise, it wouldn't be a problem brand wise at all.

Good thing it's announced of course, even though I never finished RDR1, it just didn't draw me in much.

Would The 3 Musketeers have been a better novel if one of them were a woman? I mean I won't say that it would have made the novel any worse - I have no way of knowing. Maybe? Why even bother thinking about this?But whatever, nobody cares (or should?) because they wrote a good story.

A good story is a good story. Gender/ethnic/orientation/religious/nationality balance is absolutely irrelevant.

You can have an amazing story centered on an all white male straight cast. You can also have an amazing story with the most diverse cast in the world. A good story might come from something in between.

Why does anybody care about this really? If the story is ultimately bland because the characters are not well developed, that's grounds for disappointment. But if I see a game with an all-female cast, I can't immediately assume it would have worked better if there was a guy in there. I can't look at an all male cast and assume it'd be better with a female in it. I don't see how this makes sense really.

Point 1. is kinda stupid considering it will factor in even if release is 5 years later than on consoles. Also afaik even today there is no factual proof to show that piracy actually results in lost sales. Also point 3., R* hates modding. With every GTA they have gone out their way to make modding harder and even impossible through patching the games.

Delay most likely is just because they want more money and delayed PC port increases likelihood of 2-3 time dippers.

That's what I was talking about. R* doesn't want to see their game being modded day 1 on PC.
