Nope, there was only 24 hours between 1st and 2nd tweet.

edit: as bonus, Rockstar Games account has more followers than Nintendo America

So, come back in 24 hours?

A few other things to consider:

Rockstar's tweets were at around 6:00 am, therefore giving the an actual day's worth of media coverage and people starting their day/checking their Twitter feeds.

Nintendo's tweet is largely late at night when people are (or planning) to sleep, and has already amassed over 20k likes/retweets.

If you want to go by 'offical' channels: you have to sum all of Nintendo's various channels' (NOA, NCL, NOE) announcements to get a full view of Nintendo's followers and followers' retweets and likes as compared to Rockstar's single, official twitter channel numbers (I suppose you can also include Rockstar Support for sheer follower count, but I don't think it has anything about RDR2).

There are no losers here, regardless.

"On October 20 at 23:00, a video of our completely new concept game machine 'NX (codename)' will be available on our home page. It's a short video about 3 minutes long, but please look forward to it."

I really hope Nintendo is able to explain the system clearly. Just show 3 games of 10 seconds each. Let the system take the spotlight.

gotcha. then why not just do that straight away. when is the "actual event" then?

We will likely find out during the video. Clearing the air with the concept and/or name, like they did with the Wii remote and the Wii name back in the day before a proper e3 showing, is done specifically so that the conversation can be about the games when it's time to show them. Things are less likely to get overshadowed and they can spread the message a bit cleaner when everyone is already past the initial shock

Video is gonna be a whole bunch of Reggie talking stuff and it'll eat into the runtime and we're all gonna be exclaiming come oooon

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
I keep thinking why its 3 minutes only which means this is something they want to share with everyone, not just enthusiast gamers. On your local news type of thing.

It wont just be a montage of games, we'll see snippets of gameplay while actors are shown playing the system. As for the games shown: Zelda, Mario and a Proof of Concept (Wii Sports, Nintendoland) type game.

The final name and a date at the end of the trailer. Either for the full unveiling or the final release date.

Hopefully thats a reasonable expectation. 10 more hours to go.

Home console gaming is dead in Japan so it makes sense not to label it a home console if they want it to sell. lol

While I'm unlikely to jump to NX right away, I hope it delivers for everyone and performs well for Nintendo. I am excited.

We are definitely overdue for an epic meltdown on NeoGaf. No matter what shape this announcement takes the lamentations are going to be worth it.

I doubt there will be any direct-to-the-camera talking, or much. It'll be a sizzle reel mostly, because that's about all they've got time for.

This is really strange timing. Did they just throw a dart at the calendar?

edit: RDR is being shown too ... Ah, that changes everything.

Nintendo's main home console systems that sold in all major territories.

1. Famicom - NES (a 3rd generation console, like the Sega Mark III / Master System)

2. Super Famicom - Super NES (a 4th gen console, like Sega Megadrive / Genesis)

3. Nintendo 64 (5th gen console)

4. GameCube (6th gen console, like Dreamcast, PS2 and og XBOX)

5. Wii ("new gen" console, launched during the traditional 7th gen; Xbox 360 / "HD era", including PS3)

6. Wii U

7. ?NX?

"Home gaming system". Let's see if it's really a hybrid.

I've been wanting to be excited for a Nintendo console for awhile. Wii U was really close to doing that. The NX has been hitting all my "me likey" buttons. I'm all aboard this hype train.

I think our idea of a spec sheet and Nintendo's is quite different. Don't expect a lot hard numbers.

Yeha
I expect screen dimension, function of touch-screen
Number of ports
Size of harddrive/medium they are using.
How many controllers work with it

Remember, set your expectations accordingly. We should expect something somewhat more powerful than the Wii U and I'm ok with that.

It is rather bizarre that they are going to unveil the hardware in a 3 minute video and just leave us hanging after that with a possible full reveal date at the end of the video.

It is basically the same as that Wii U reveal video but without anything that comes after.

Maybe this "preview" trailer is the the teaser for a Tuesday reveal? But if that is the case then why would Nintendo not have a Strategy Meeting scheduled....uuugghhh

WELL, THIS IS IT. I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY. I'M SPEACHLESS AS TO WHAT MY DEPARTING WORDS SHOULD BE. I'M JUST GLAD THAT IT'S ALL OVER, AND IT'S ALL BUILT TO THIS. TIME TO SEE WHAT THIS THING IS!!!! I'M GOING TO SLEEP, WISH ME LUCK IN DREAM LAND. OR, RATHER WISH ME LUCK IN THAT WHEN I GO TO SLEEP I WON'T IMMEDIATELY WAKE UP AND REALIZE THAT IT'S ALL ONLY A DREAM.

I'm just acutely conscious of Nintendo's current track record for fixing rubber stoppers to the wheels of hype trains aimed their way

Some of you whom are buying this at launch will probably be more excited than I will be, but at the very least there could be new Zelda footage and perhaps even a (simultaneous) release date. Looking forward to that on Wii U and DQVIII on 3DS still. I haven't moved on yet and barring open world 3D Mario or Donkey Kong games (or Smash from scratch which is unlikely) I won't right away, but I can see why some of you guys are practically crashing into walls in sheer joy. The silence was deafening and it appears that some details might have leaked out (we'll find out tomorrow). When you wait that long it is inevitable that somebody will unfortunately leak something.
