If you want someone who perfectly represents your views and has about as much chance of election to President as the third party candidates, then you may as well vote for yourself.

Unless you are in Utah and are voting for future President Eggs McMuffin.

Biscuit is the superior choice and you know it!

+2 in NY from my mom and I, for madame president, obviously.

Decided to go before work to avoid the lines. Was in line maybe 5 minutes, it wasn't that bad, but it was way more crowded than it had been before. Just a tiny church in a small and quiet neighborhood.

My brother's school is a voting location as well and it was madness. Turnout looks to be huge this year.

My mind cannot comprehend why someone will vote for trump, he is just hate and stupidity and I actually fear for the economy of my country if he wins :(

You guys are way too predictable.

Guess what, nearly 50% of your country is voting for Trump. Don't act all shook when one of those people posts on GAF. The rest just doesn't say anything because being a Trump voter means your account is unlikely to last very long.

Accept that some people will vote Trump and move the fuck on.

Agreed.

As you pointed out, these people make up roughly half of the voting population of the United States. Even if Clinton wins, your still going to have to work with these people to make it a better country. Shutting them out of the national conversation is only going to make them more entrenched in their views. You basically have two sides talking past eachother right now and that is a terrible thing.

You kind of answered yourself there. One of those. Or maybe both. It the same things that fired up the Brexit vote for example.

Good luck America, do the right thing and elect Hildog.

I made a £10 bet on Trump because I might as well try and make some money if Americans elect that joke. One bet I hope to fuck I lose.

My vote for Hillary is in. Decent amount of people at my poll - took about half an hour from getting in line to voting.

Now all I can do is wait!

In Canada it is a Federal Law that all employers MUST ensure all employees have three contiguous hours of free time in which to vote on election day, to ensure everyone has an opportunity to cast their ballot. You don't have something like that in the U.S.?

I'll never understand how voting day is not just sunday. Or at least a holiday.

I think even in the general public there are a lot of silent Trump supporters unfortunately, and that's what's scary. Hopefully tonight is not another brexit scenario :S

Yet not calling people out for their terrible views does nothing. Personally I'm sick of treating these people like special snowflakes. Right now they have no desire to make this a better country for the rest of us.

Just voted for Clinton in New Jersey, and against the casinos and against Chris Smith. Although, I didn't sign my name the same as last time, so I was questioned and had to resign my name (I didn't have to show ID however).

For someone protraying himself as a NeverTrumper, it was intesresting to listen at how Joe Scarborough was distressed by all his guests telling him that according to available current data FL is going blue, which would mean a de facto Clinton win (unless very unlikely losses in typically blue States).

Perhaps did I miss it, but why was that never a topic in the preelection?

The biggest reason for those numbers is drug possession, and with more and more states decriminalizing it, that's removing a major pressure valve on the system. A number of states are also reforming their prison codes as a cost issue. The total incarceration rate has been dropping for several years now at this point.

It also got brought up plenty in the Dem primary.

Whoever wins the election, Trump and Clinton are both far more tolerant of marijiuana, so there's going to be increasing movement towards legalization (or more likely permissive decriminalization at the federal level with states individually changing their tune.) It's frankly a problem that will sort itself out (although there still remain issues with the system, such as kickbacks for sentencing, disproportionate sentencing for minorities, and the like.)

So far it seems like we've had about 100 people. I was really happy to see we had people lined up since 5:15. And most people have been prepared.

Did my part. One vote Trump here and probably one of five users who will admit it

While I respect you being truthful about who you've voted for, supporting his ideals and his party's platform of racism, xenophobia, homophobia, social injustice, fascism, disregard for scientific knowledge for whatever menial personal or monetary gains you might hope to see in the next four years comes at a shameful cost.

I imagine that's as civil a response as you should hope to get.

All the best for today, America. The rest of the world is watching with bated breath hoping you side with sanity.

The data we're seeing out of FL isn't just saying it's going blue this election, it's saying that it's going blue for the forseeable future as long as Dems can get out the vote.

Canada does have an early voting weekend one week before their Monday election day,

early voting last year was Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday one week before.

+employers are required to give time to their emplyees to reach the poles with 3 hours leeway before polls closing on election day

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
So people who vote for hillary get applauded but if someone says he voted for trump you get reactions like this? This is democracy.

Freedom of speech, baby. You are free to sling shit at people for their opinions and so is everybody else.

Anyone who voted for Trump is an enemy of basic human decency.

My third election, and the first one I'm not voting early in the morning, since I have to leave for school before my polling place opens.

Let's go, Clinton and Kamala.

If someone shits in your hand and tells you it's ice cream, you're not going to respect their position and eat shit out of courtesy unless you're really dumb and/or completely lack self-respect.

Same deal.

Don't fall for his shtick..both him and Mika are REAL good friends with that piece of orange excrement.

Left a little before 7AM in Brooklyn, NY and lines were already about 20 minutes to vote in my neighborhood, which is mostly consisted of West Indian immigrants. Feels good to see immigrants engaging in the system, letting their voice be heard.

I'll never understand how voting day is not just sunday. Or at least a holiday.

Weekend voting will never happen since Republicans don't want people to have an easier time voting, since their base (olds) are going to vote no matter what and helping other groups vote only hurts their chances of winning.

Making Election Day a holiday won't help much either since it's not like businesses are going to voluntarily close, so most people are still going to be stuck working.

The best we can hope for is nationwide mail-in voting or being able to vote online.

It's been open for a week though. The US election is quite unique in that it runs for a week.
Depends on the state. Some states have been open for like 3 weeks actually. Some have allowed for mail-in even sooner than that.

A handful allow basically only in person day of outside of some "valid reason."

They shut themselves out by completely shitting the bed when they had to call a black man their President, twice, upon which they proceeded to elect people on the very basis of racism, xenophobia, paternalistic attitudes towards women, and a concerted effort to sabotage and undermine our democracy at every turn to stop that "nigger" from doing the job he was elected to do, even when we stupidly continued to try and act bipartisan. Every time we pulled the chair out for them, they spat in our eyes. Well, times are changing. Hispanics and Latinx are getting more prominent and more vocal, as we will see tonight, and black people sure as hell aren't going anywhere. That demographic clock is ticking for the white deplorables, and if these people can't be bothered to let go of some of their hate and work within the system and to compromise with people across the aisle, then they will be left in the dust.

In the States? During football season? I would actually like to see some study if it would be a better or worse turn out if voting day was on a sunday in November.

With how many commercial breaks there are, it wouldn't be too hard to fit in 5 minutes of voting.

Don't forget Asians too. We're a small percentage but we're growing. While many are first gen immigrants, their kids and grandkids will go on to be more active citizens. Only thing keeping the GOP alive is how the current system favors rural areas in state and local governments (along with gerrymandering in the House).

My wife and I voted on Saturday, so +2 for Clinton in Ohio. My grandparents, and uncle also voted Clinton.

It's a shame that Democrats only show their true weight during Presidential elections. Midterms and the resulting state governments is what will keep the GOP painfully relevant for decades.

But that's in the afternoon right?

In switzerland voting is typically until noon. Everyone that can't bother to go on sunday votes by mail, you get what you need about a month in advance.

I'm always confused by how complicated the US system sounds.

Yeah i get that, but you'd think a party that screams about democracy would care about people being able to vote. It seems like the most basic thing.

It's going to be boring which is a good thing. Hilary wins. I kinda feel the media is dragging this out so people will watch.

Took me an hour and 15 mins to vote. Georgia. Got exit polled. The polling guy said he had never seen turnout like this. Lots of people showed up before work at least.
