There are only 3 charts left after this week until the end of the year and the week 49, 2016 chart sees the last of the big releases out of the traps.

Activision re-claim No1 with ‘Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’, perhaps with an eye on the Christmas No1, which they have held for the previous 2 years with ‘COD Black Ops III’ in 2015 and ‘COD Advance Warfare’ in 2014. EA take No’s 2 & 3 with ‘FIFA 17’ and ‘Battlefield 1’. The impressive launch of Square Enix’s ‘Final Fantasy XV’ last week at No2 sees the title dropping to No4 this week, but still ahead of the 2 big new releases this week. The first of the new releases is Microsoft and Capcom’s ‘Dead Rising 4’ for Xbox One debuting at No5. Previous iteration ‘Dead Rising 3’ was also only Xbox One, debuting 2 places lower at No7 in week 47,2013. Remaining at No6 for a third successive week is Ubisoft’s ‘Watch Dogs 2’, which means that Sony’s PS4 ‘The Last Guardian’ debuts at No7. Previous games in this series debuted at No15 (‘Ico’ for PS2, All Formats Chart week 12, 2002) and at No1 (‘Shadow of the Colossus’ for PS2, All Formats Chart week 7, 2006).

We still don't have enough data to figure out how Dead Rising 4 and The Last Guardian sold, but so far Dead Rising 4 being above the best-selling Fifa 17 SKU can only be positive news. The Last Guardian is also above the PlayStation 4 version of Fifa 17 and above both Battlefield 1 SKU's.

Edit: I realized Dead Rising 4 is below Final Fantasy XV in the all-formats chart, so it is still too early to celebrate it unless Final Fantasy XV had a better second week drop than expected.

Awww, was hoping The Last Guardian would do a little better than that.

Mind you, it's so friggin' expensive everywhere. Cheapest you can get it has been £39.99 as far as I know.

As people have said, TLG was a loss-leader to get people to PS4; I think delivering the game alone has underscored that point.

I'm still surprised it released.

Really surprised to see DR4 in the top 5. I've seen no TV spots for it at all and it really hasn't had much fanfare.

Think I'll pick it up at some point this week, I also thought TLG would have outperformed it as well. Still seems like good entry positions for both?

Tomodachi Life will always come back.

As usual, looking forward to your extrapolation Bruno.

Can someone conjur up the list of first week sales debut for all of Sony first-party/exclusives this gen? Would be good to get a sense check of where TLG potentially fits.

Good to see FFXV still holding a good position on its 2nd week. Hopefully holydays will help it staying relevant for longer than usual, it's a good season for some legs.

Tuesday release vs Friday release in Dead Rising 4 & The Last Guardian's cases, I'm interested to find out how it ranks against Ueda's other work.

Marketing has been pretty intense in the UK, though.

Maybe I'm watching the wrong channels hah but I haven't saw any ads for it yet. Lots of Mario Maker 3ds, Pokemon & even still Yokai Watch, a new ad orientated for girls. Have saw a fair number of FFXV, and a kind of short/bad Dishonorted 2 ad is still popping up often, but no TLG to my recollection. We end up with a lot of kids tv on though so that probably skews it a certain way.

A fair bit of TLG marketing around so I wasnt sure how that game would do. I didnt expect it to be number 1 but I did expect top 5.

Last Guardian.. shame. I hope the team will still create more games despite the development hell and seemingly bad sales.

Team Ico hasnt really existed for 5 years so its not like that was going to ever happen. That team had a exodus from Sony in 2011. Ueda was on contract supervising the project ever since.

But I expect Ueda's next game to be a small scale downloadable no matter the sales. I also expect Sony to have nothing to do with it but thats a different basket and bullshit.

[smug mode]I pre-ordered my copy a few months ago for £32[/smug mode]

Along with Gravity Rush 2, Horizon and Spider-Man all for the same price (by stacking codes with Tesco). Was pretty stoked to get such good prices.

That so? Does that mean he isn't working on any games anymore, or what?
He founded genDesign and plans on working on more games. Shu wants to continue working with him, so chances are he'll work with Sony again.

If I had to guess, this sold less than Shadow of the Colossus?
Hard to say. SotC debuted at number one but it came out in February, not December like TLG.

Here's hoping TLG did well, it's an incredible game.

Surprised Dead Rising 4 is above The Last Guardian.

At my shop, it's a landslide in favour of TLG, granted it's Poland not UK, and we have a rather loyal core customer base.

Hopefully TLG is in and around 20k.
That would be a good debut for a relatively niche single player type exclusive.

It's above FIFA 17 and BF1 for PS4 individual SKU's so that's a positive sign.

To be fair, that will be the mainland EU picture everywhere.

Really surprised to see DR4 in the top 5. I've seen no TV spots for it at all and it really hasn't had much fanfare.

I had Sky Sports on in the background last night, and I saw the same Dead Rising 4 advert about six times in the space of an hour and a half. That's more than I've seen for MS-branded Titanfall 2 or FFXV ads combined.

Not bad at all for The Last Guardian ! :) Being above Battlefield 1, FIFA 17 or even FF15 second week seems to be a very decent reception, way better than Gravity Rush or other games that were completely ignored like Tearaway or Puppeteer.

tlg seems to be overshipped in sweden

the place i bought it still had loads of copies when i bought it a few days after launch

i don't think sony is too concerned though as they seem to consider the olympic team as more of profile-boosting team that gives goodwill among core gamers that doesn't necessarily have to be profitable

Well that's disappointing, hopefully it has solid legs.

Will be getting my copy some time next week, can't wait to finally play it.

Comfortable number for TLG, though I had hope it would be a pleasant surprise like FFXV. Do we have any estimates on the actual numbers for ICO and SotC?

Okay, since percentages seem to be dying, it's time for the back of the envelope to make its glorious return!

FIFA 17 did 135k last week. I am going to guess a drop of 50%, putting it at 68k. XBOX ONE FIFA is higher, so it will at least have done 35k, likely more. Dead rising is above FIFA XBOX ONE, so it did more than 35k likely. Furthermore, FFXV is above Dead Rising with combined SKU, so it has also done more than 35k. I will guess roughly 40k (not unfair, I think). This would mean the drop in the second week is roughly 65% if 115k was first week, or roughly 70% if 135k was first week.

Those drops are pretty good for a JRPG releasing on a Tuesday, I'd say.

Dead Rising being above LG is pretty bad. Didn't seem like anyone cared for DR leading up to launch, unlike LG.

Hard to say without numbers. Could be just a couple thousand behind for all we know.

Also DR4 had 5 days of tracking vs TLG's 2 days.

Oh this is only two days of tracking for TLG? I didn't know that.

Ahh, I was out most of yesterday doing Christmas shopping. They must have given it a push then cause I haven't seen any ads apart from COD, TF2, FF and Dishonoured 2 over the last few weeks.

Edit, and loads of Mafia 3 but it seems to have calmed down a bit.

Would it be safe to say Dead Rising 4 & the Last Guardian both moved 20+K units each ? Because that would be a good result for the both of them, especially with the latter being a Friday release.

Seriously is 5 days or 2 days always make a big difference?

That said i don't really that care about TLG sales, i think maybe even Sony not that care about TLG sales, i mean it's been so long, too long that feels like everyone in Sony would think "just release it and whatever the sales good or bad".

Yah.
UK plebs stayed losing by getting the game last world wide last Friday.
This was very annoying, I don't get why Sony don't like simultaneous launches.

I'm not saying it's a massive deal but undeniably a factor (for that comparison to DR4 specifically)

Yeah, that seems to be a safe bet. I can't see FIFA doing much less than 65k (which is less than half of last week) and so Dead Rising did slightly more than half of that and TLG slightly less than half.
