man i don't know how to play yakuza but i hope there's more environmental kills and takedowns that dan hasn't worked out how to do yet

Yakuza 0 has taught me that Out Run is a great game.

Still not into Space Harrier, though.

Having spent like ages trying to get that 5 mil achievement in Out Run, I disagree. I'm shit at both but I like Space Harrier slightly more.

If they hit triangle when they're in the big circle grid thing there's a breakdown of all the available heat actions and how to use them. There are a few environmental actions (like against a rail) but most of them are weapon based/unlocked through spending fat stacks

I was hoping for more sleepy dawgs style enviro-kills, but it's not bad as is. Especially since they seem to save them for cinematic things

Yeah, it's a bit painful to see Alex/Vinny try and push Dan to try for things that simply won't do anything different, and for the most part you will see the same heat actions over and over again since they're the easiest/most convenient to pull off. There are some fantastic ones but they require some specific set-up or weapon so it's rare you'll see it organically.

Rorie seven minutes into an ATV Off-Road Fury PS2 demo "so when's this coming out?"

Wrong about commas, wrong about everything

I like Rorie too but that's probably going a bit too far. I don't even think he is Jewish.

Also yes, Rorie would be perfect. He is the complete opposite of Drew's "I'm only gonna talk if I have something to say" philosophy. I'm halfway convinced Rorie just says words without knowing what they are but by some miracle they form a real sentence that sometimes is even related to the topic.

Also that you need to stand still to use heat and not just mash triangle

Yeah i'm also getting a bit tired of Bombcast, maybe it needs some changes. I really like off-topic talk from guys and there isn't enough of that these days.

If you could choose one game, GB has never played, for GB to play what game would you pick?

Mine woud be Ratatoullie for the PS3. It's the only game-gen (and this gen) I quit because it was too difficult. Reason being because there is alot of tightrope walking and you could only use the controller to tilt left and right and falling is death and reload. No d-pad or left/right on the sticks. I made it 2-3 levels in.

We're going to get another state-of-E3 discussion, won't we? I realised how sick of them I was during the last Beastcast. It's the same damn thing they've been talking about for years and years.

Yeah. Bombcast is still the superior video game podcast. Its not even close, really.

My issue with Bombcast isn't the quality, it's still great. My issue is that it has become too predictable and there are no real signs of changing that. It still is the Brad asks a question, Jeff answers the question, Jason and Drew mumble something show. And that has become boring. No one challenges Jeff when he says something outlandish anymore. Brad doesn't have to moderate because there is nothing to moderate. It's the el Jeffe show. And again, Drew and Jason (love them) might not be there, wouldn't change much.

East has Alex who can articulate his points, Vinny who's Vinny, B-Jeff who stands his ground and DAAAAAN. These are dynamics. Something important for a podcast. West has no dynamics.

I'm glad they have two weekly podcasts. For years now, the bombcast hasn't been something I actively look forward to. More often I'll half listen to part of it and move on. Having another podcast that's markedly different from their main product is a good move and gives me confidence in the #brand. The beastcast doesn't make the bombcast obsolete, rather it supplements it.

I feel the bombcast needs another member that's like Jeff or Brad. Someone that is willing to say what's on their mind more often and can engage the crew in conversation easily. I like Jason and Drew, but they are not that.

Does anyone remember what game Brad played not TOO long ago on UPF where time only moves when you move, and you had to dodge things?

After playing Superhot and Clustertruck, I'm totally up for more arcadey fun gameplay, but I can't remember what game it was.

Much appreciated.

Also... ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ Beast in the East 3

Having people with strong opinions and who could talk well like Ryan, Patrick and Vinny really helped the flow of the Bombcast. I really do miss those days.

I agree that it could use some new blood, but I really don't think its necessary. Brad and Jeff make that podcast what it is because of their pedigree in this business. That's why I will continue to listen. This idea that just because they lost Dan it is suddenly a lost cause is so strange.

Also, like you mentioned, Beastcast's "energy" doesn't make it a good video game podcast. That's some YouTube nonsense. It's a really good "end of week let's fuck around and also touch on some video game related things" podcast, which is still very good. In that way I don't even think it's easy to compare the two, I feel they're so different at this point.

The Beastcast currently being a 2-3 times better and more enjoyable podcast than the Bombcast right now, and the Bombcast being a superior video game podcast, are not mutually exclusive.

Edit: I see you said it above.

Any idea why most of the output is coming from GBeast at the moment? West occupied with "business/ management" work?

GBWest is running on a skeleton crew of 4 people, so they lack people to make content. They'll ramp up when they can staff back up.

Meanwhile, Beast is running a beefy large crew of 3 people, so plenty of people to make content and they're firing on all cylinders.
