Capcom announces The Disney Afternoon Collection for PS, XB1 and PC [Port beg = ban]

Oh come on! Why are we getting excited about these NES ports!

We could instead have the wonderful return of classic Disney characters to videogames in 2.5D looking sweet like Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze or Ori and the Blind Forest as examples, not these weak ass NES games.

Give me a new Quack shot or World of Illusion looking like that Castle of Illusion update we got not too long ago, accept that was pulled from sale due to various licensing issues.

Capcom used to be the king at these platform games using Disney characters, as well as Sega and bloody Disney themselves...what happened?

Anyway, if you're excited about this collection then great, but for me, I want some new.

bish gets all the credit :)
This is really cool. A nice way to get people to buy rom dumps of 30 year old games.

I may be in the minority, but I'd rather they port over these games to eliminate all the slowdown/flicker, but that's probably too much work for a $20 product.

fake edit: only digital. No thanks.

Have you looked at the prices for some of these lately, particularly Chip & Dale 2 and Ducktales 2? It's unreasonable to expect the average customer to pay those prices. It's nice that Capcom managed to talk Disney into making a collection.

I'm glad that Disney/Marvel and Capcom seem to be playing nicely these days, pretty much since Ducktales Remastered a few years ago.

I played a LOT of Ducktales, Rescue Rangers and Darkwing as a kid, but never had the chance to play the sequels or Tail Spin, so I'm excited to play those games on my modern systems.

Next... they need to make a Capcom/Marvel classics collection. X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse & Marvel Super Heroes: War of the Gems for SNES and their various arcade fighters throughout the 90's.

Also an SNES Disney/Capcom collection with the Magical Quest games, Aladdin and Goof Troop would be pretty sweet as well.

Oh man, not really what I was expecting, but this is the most surprising Capcom compilation for sure. I genuinely thought they'd never be re-released outside of remakes like Ducktales Remastered.

God bless Digital Eclipse! Everybody please keep supporting these projects so this isn't the last.

Looks cool. I played the Ducktales remake a couple years ago and I played the Talespin port on Mega Drive back then (which could be completely different) but other than that that haven't played any of these. Was a big fan of all these shows in the 90s though.

Collection also seems to have some nice features, will likely pick it up.

Hopefully they make another collection with some of the later titles too if this is successful.

Looks like they even gave this collection a speedrun style timer system, rather cool.

The only Talespin game I remember is the Megadrive version which was more of a platformer.

I know theyre SNES games but I hope Bonkers and Goof Troop get added as DLC, or maybe they get added with Aladdin and the Magical Quest games for a SNES focused collection thats not Disney Afternoon themed

Still this is a rad surprise

Weren't most of these games terrible though? I was a kid in the heyday of Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, Duck Tales, etc and I remember just avoiding those games like the plague and it being like common knowledge at school that Disney games are straight trash except for Aladdin and Lion King (which aren't even a part of this).

Some of these games are some of the best games for the NES library. Every single one of them is better than The Lion King at least.

This is something I would totally prefer to buy on Switch over another platform. I can understand why, but it's a shame Little Nemo isn't included too.

I didn't even know there was a Chip n Dale 2 and a Ducktales 2, lol.

They were released in 1993, and in the case of Chip & Dale 2 LATE 1993. The NES was on its last legs in the US and as a result not a whole lot of copies were printed which is why both games are so rare and expensive these days.

I loved the Duck Tales and Chip/Dale games when I was a kid, but never knew either had a sequel. I'm tempted to get this collection just to fill that gap.

That mostly explains it, but I had a top loading NES too so I was still playing some of the latter releases.

i love that they retained the 8-bit but went high def output. the goal of a set like this should be historical AND commercial. fantastic looking work!

Would be nice for a physical edition as "delisting" is guaranteed in a few years.
Hopefully there's some kind of limited edition.

Oh, I thought these would be more remake-like, in the vain on Duck Tales Remasteded. I'm interested, but will wait and see if a Switch port eventually happens. If not, I'll take it for another console.

That seems like a licensing nightmare.
No more so than this compilation. These games are owned by Capcom and Disney who are both on board to release these.

It's not like the NES Ninja Turtles games, where the games were made by one company, the current game license held by another, and the TMNT brand held by yet another. Or GoldenEye, which is an even bigger mess.

Speaking of Disney property games, was Quack Attack! good?
It was all right for a Crash Bandicoot knock-off.

But it's missing Tiny Toons, which was the best Disney Afternoon cartoon! And why is it not coming out for Wii U!!?!

Getting this day one. I think the only games I actually don't love on this are the sequels for C&D and Ducktales, but they are fine.

I LOVED those games. Also.. those "Saved by the Bell" 90s backgrounds for the video.. LOL!
