So as someone who played ME1 for like 10 minutes before realizing I wanted nothing to do with it, what do people play Mass Effect for? Because with the jankiness, the boring combat, and the glitches, I always assumed it was the story, the character interactions, the writing, and the world that pulled people in. But with ME: A, the people that are enjoying it are saying things like, "eh I don't mind that the writing is bad", "oh that's just typical Bioware character animations", "oh yeah the story is hammy but that's not the reason I'm playing". So why do people like this series? Because from an outside perspective, this seems like me saying, "Yeah the new Mario game has pretty bad platforming, but that's not why I'm playing it"

Damn that's good

I played the trilogy for the story and the fact that there were consequences for your actions and stuff.

I'm also baffled by the "I don't play it for the story" people since there are definitely better shooters on the market if that's your main interest.

Unless it turns out the story in this is amazing my interest for it will remain low.

I don't know if even an interesting story can do it for me when the moment to moment characterizations and dialogue are downright poor. It felt like they couldn't complete a full conversation without some instance of bad line reading, straight up bad writing, weird pauses, or a combination of the three. And that isn't even considering the faces themselves.

Rorie calling out the lack of animation for the eyebrows has completely destroyed my ability to watch this Andromeda video uncritically.

I didn't know where to ask this question, and it's so weirdly specific that I didn't want to make a thread for it.

How do I use my Turtle Beach x42 Surround Sound wireless headphones on the Wii U? They're optical so I feel like I'm at a dead end :(

If the only input on the headphones is optical, something like this should be fine: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005F20756/?tag=neogaf0e-20 (I'm not endorsing the product linked here just pointing out these adapters exist)

Assuming you have a Wii AV adapter around, and if the Wii U supports having different audio and video output. If it has headphone input with a 3.5mm jack, a lot of games support audio output through the Gamepad. That's a game by game solution though.

Theres just so much wrong with the ME animation

There is something admirable about it tho despite the jank. Like a kids production of a play. Where you know its so technically bad but you cant help finding it cute.

how versatile is a bagel, really

Extremely. Any of the following is great on a bagel:

Bacon/Sausage/Pork Roll, Egg, and Cheese
Cream Cheese
Whitefish Salad
Lox
PB & J
Pizza Bagel
Use it as a substitute for sliced bread in sandwiches
By itself

Bagels are the best

Bagels are awesome. The only issue with a bagel is that they are so carb dense and not as nutritious as whole grain bread. Much more tasty tho. Bacon, egg, and cheese bagels are always the bomb.
