UFC 212 Aldo vs Holloway: Now We Will See Who Is The Real Cham...Number Two!!!

I would still pick Conor over Holloway. Then again I've picked like, every one of Holloways last 4 fights wrong so who knows maybe I'd be wrong on that one too

Max is basically a better Diego Sanchez. I don't see his style lasting, but he's young and has an incredible fight IQ and potential to evolve. He lost the first 2 rounds and came back strong. The mental fortitude to do that, against Jose Aldo, in Brazil, for the belt - that says a whole lot.

And he's only 24. We could see a similar transformation like WEC Exterminator Aldo going to UFC Tactician Aldo.

It's sad to see Aldo lose, but he's still the FW GOAT, and fights like these - as Rogan put it on Fight Companion - are necessary for the sport. The passing of the torch.

It's hard to root against Frankie, but I'd like to see Max hold on to that belt.

Why? Because 1) 13 seconds 2) Aldo was essentially handed the title without fighting to earn it 3) that he beat Holloway in a decision while injured early on in the fight and 4) that he's essentially been given a prime excuse for an immediate title shot in that a) he never lost the title and b) he has a win over the new champ.

Holloway's victory here elevates McGregor.

McGregor vs Holloway II could sell, assuming Conor comes back to the division.

Holloway had his moments in the Conor bout, but he's evolved as a fighter. TKO'd Pettis and Aldo? Let's go.

Aldo's chin can't hang with his stand and bang style, he's like 100 in fight years. Conor would have slept him again.

Holloway has a retarded strong chin and his fight IQ has improved tremendously, I'd be excited for that rematch with McGregor.
Would love to see that, think it would be a really close fight. Both have improved substantially since the first fight, but if Conor fights again in the UFC, it's not at 145.

Max-Frankie is the fight to make. Frankie's wrestling is going to be a problem.

Somewhere Conor is laughing.
If anything, he's less relaxed than he would be if Aldo were to have won.

He slept the loser of this bout, but went to a decision against the new FW champion.

If Conor was granted an immediate rematch after getting choked out by Diaz, Holloway tearing through Pettis and Aldo is more than enough to warrant that McGregor decision rematch.

Impressive win for Holloway. Like others I cant believe Aldo didnt throw a leg kick or add them to his combinations.

Worst part about this loss is all the McGregor Stans who just started following MMA who will begin to discredit Aldo and everything he's done through out his career.

If McGregor had the balls, and I say this from the safety from my own home, to defend a title I'm behind Max all the way.

I don't see Conor ever even attempting 145 again anyways so all this is probably moot unless Max moves up.

Though I do totally agree Max deserves a rematch with him if Conor would take the fight

He at least defended his title a bunch of times.

And Joe Rogan will probably say this loss also stains Aldos legacy :|. Aldo is probably on the way out, it happens, I dont' think a loss ruins anyones legacy.

Aldo
Gadelha
Marquardt
Bambgose
Silva
Assuncao

2 for 6. Don't think I've ever picked 'em worse.

Why would they? He got finished badly.

They'll give the title shot to Frankie.

Cause Aldo is the GOAT FW, only 30 years old (albeit old in fight years), has a country behind him, is clearly one of the best in the world still, and until the stoppage was up 2 rounds to nothing. The UFC giving him the immediate rematch makes a lot of sense.

That being said, I don't want it. Not straightaway anyway.

I'd prefer to see Frankie/Max first.

Let's be real here. Both Conor and Holloway have improved a ton since their fight. I think their rematch would be totally different. The question is... who has improved more?

Holloway looks like one of Speedy Gonzales sidekicks (one of those tall lanky goofy looking rats) and he is actually a real life doofus with the dork ass things he says and how he clowns around in the octagon, i can't respect him honestly... Holloway era my ass.

OK, now I want to see what happens when you tell Holloway he looks like a rat.

Dude's still 26-3 at the age of 30 having fought since he was 18.

There are literally hundreds of elite fighters who would give their left arm for a record like that.

I like Frankie's chances against Conor more than Holloway's.
Frankie gets dropped multiple times in nearly every fight. Despite his fast recovery time, I don't like his odds against a guy like Conor who flatlines others with his impeccable timing.

Would go similar to the Alvarez bout IMO.

Max looked incredible tonight. I had a feeling he had broken Aldo mentally with those Diaz taunts and Stockton slap.

Alvarez fought a brainless fight though.

Conor looks like he's dying during weight cuts to 145, no need for that.

He's won 1 out of his last 3 fights though. Goat or not, it doesn't make much sense. Let Frankie get a shot.

Yup, the hot takes will be hot, but as much as Aldo rubs me the wrong way, and as much as I was hoping he would lose, his legacy is still one of the most decorated in all of MMA.

One KO doesn't erase an entire career. José Aldo is the best Featherweight there's ever been.

People need to get the idea of Conor fighting at FW in his career ever again out of their heads.

He at least defended his title a bunch of times.
Which is something new fans will overlook in favor of the one and done style that McGregor has brought.

And Joe Rogan will probably say this loss also stains Aldos legacy :|. Aldo is probably on the way out, it happens, I dont' think a loss ruins anyones legacy.
Rogan can say what he wants. He'd be wrong. Also had one of the greatest runs ever and is the GOAT at the FW division, even with his two losses.

Conor beat him too decisively for that to be the case. Two potential GOATS at FW fought and Conor won. #1 Conor #2 Aldo

Both Aldo and Holloway shied away from using their best weapons / techniques because they knew the other guy would have trained for the counter.

All I want to see is Khabib/Conor and Claudia/Joanna part 700.
Odds of both of these happening???

Claudia is clearly the 2nd best 115 lb fighter in the world so odds are really favorable you'll see Claudia / Joanna fight again at some point.

Khabib / Conor is interesting. Not sure if it ever happens or not.

Khabib will pull out if the fight ever happens, but Conor will probably not sign on without seeing Khabib show up and win a couple more to establish some trust.
I don't think Conor wants any part of that motherfucker.
I mean, he could knock him out before it goes to the ground but what's he going to do if it does???

Khabib will maul him if he gets a hold of him.
Yeah and as much as Khabib's standup is suspect, I find it hard to believe he won't get him down.
I know Michael Johnson isn't Conor but Khabib survived long enough in that one to get him down and then it became a porno on the mat.
