VR: Boring and uninformative presentation -- but let's take a moment to point out that Bethesda employed most of the main people involved in creating modern VR, said they didn't care about VR, let those people work on VR in their spare time, then when those people quit and wanted to work on VR full-time, Bethesda sued them for "stealing" their IP (that they didn't care about) and now they're trying to do VR launches of their year+ old content? Oh, and they also just recently C&Ded an indie team with a game name that contained the word Prey because ????? Bethesda is a shitty company

Oh, also Pete Hines is an awful presenter who can't read a teleprompter and isn't funny why exactly does Bethesda have an E3 show? While I'm at it, the music and graphics for the theme park interstitials are awful and don't fit their content at all.

Skyrim Morrowind: Yes, this is already out and we already know about it, but thanks for showing YouTube reaction videos of the CG announcement trailer????

Paid Mods 2: Electric Boogaloo: This looks worse than the paid mod system they tried to launch 5 years ago on Steam.

Expansion to Hearthstone: Who cares

Skyrim Switch: I guess it's neat but this is like the 10th release of a 6 or 7 year old game now?

Expansion to Dishonored 2: This CG trailer looked OK, I guess?

The Evil Within 2: Kinda hard to get a handle on what the game is, honestly, but the weird genre-switching Duran Duran cover was weird. I guess this didn't look bad?

Wolfenstein II: The New Order: The alternate reality Nazi 60s seems neat but The Man in the High Castle did all of this over the last two years (including the "people on LSD during a nazi occupation" thing)

Overall 0/10; total waste of 40 minutes, no reason they couldn't just put the last three trailers on YouTube or whatever.

Bethesda KILLED IT

New Dishonored, The Evil Within 2, and Wolfenstein II THIS YEAR.

Heck, I'll probably buy Skyrim Switch as well.

Such a great show!

Lol maybe I'm just tired, but I don't think I've ever hated a e3 conferences choice of style more than this.

Cheery pastel amusement park art juxtaposed with dark violent video games. Talk about a clash.

I felt as if even Pete knew it was a disappointing conference.

At least Wolfenstein looked fucking spectacular.

Fallout 4 and Doom releasing again, Skyrim a third time, paid mods and an expansion to a card game played by 100 people.

That was awful, even including the 2 sequels announced.

4ish out of 10. At most.

Wolfenstein New Colossus though, on point.

That TEW2 segment was strange af like the gameplay was insane but the CG stuff was a big "WHY!?"

The Sony method is good, but it has the flaw of not giving additional context on what we're seeing, and this conference suffered because of this IMO.

The post conference when E3 really starts is a better time to go indepth... because not everyone wants to know more about all those games.

No one is going to play for hours at a time in VR a rpg like Fallout. They needed something specifically made for VR in the Fallout world.

Stoked for Wolfenstein. Wished Quake announced for PS4. Evil within looked good.

Next up Sony...
Well, Devolver is in 10 minutes
PC and Ubi are before Sony

I give the conference a 7.

Recycled a bit much, but the intro and general aesthetic at least had some life and creativity. The theme park thing was at least more than every other conference so far. The kids were cute. But most importantly wolfenstein is the best thing I've seen in any conference AND TEW2 looked good. Both coming this year is a huge plus. Dishonored DLC sounds promising.

I thought it was fine. Bethesda showed off more games that I'm interested in than Microsoft did.

Out of those 42 games shown compared to like 10 Bethesda showed, you thought the Bethesda games were better? Only games that were interesting to me were Wolfenstein and the Evil Within 2...Microsoft showcased Anthem, Shadow of War, AC Origins, Cuphead, Ori, Crackdown, Dragonball Fighters, etc...and those are way more than 2 games that interest me compared to the 2 bethesda showed.

Sorry, I got carried away by the Wolfenstein hype. Seeing this objectively this was a lackluster conference. Wolf2 was the only good part.

Still, that's more than I can say about MS's conference.

Wolfenstein and The Evil Within 2 alone made this the best conference for me so far. I actually dug the presentation style, it was playful and they kept the YouTuber nonsense to a minimum. The short length and "everything is playable this year" thing worked really well in their favor too. Fuck off with paid mods though. Absolutely not buying into that.
6/10 for me.

Tomorrow is the meat and potatoes for me, Sony's time to shine!

More entertaining than the Microsoft conference at least. And I actually want to play all the games shown other than the stupid card game. But screw paid mods, it's just another way for Bethesda to make more money as like 85-90+% of the proceeds will go to them instead of the mod creators. And if Bethesda made better Elder Scroll and Fallout games, so many mods wouldn't even be needed.

I agree with this. This along with the new console, puts it well ahead of Bethesda.

These games are coming out this year. So this was an effective way of getting them on peoples radar.

For example, Wolfenstein 2 is now a game I will probably buy even though I haven't played the first one.

As an expensive ad, I think this conference worked in parts.

Perhaps he's wondering why someone would shoot a man before throwing him out of a plane.
Honestly, that was terrible. The whole thing just felt rushed, like it was put together in a week or something. Also Wolfenstein felt really off-putting, like the tone felt inconsistent.

To be honest, I still preferred EA's snoozefesst to that anticlimactic mess.

MS: 8/10
EA: 4/10
Bethesda: 3/10

My E3 rankings so far

EA 3/10
MS 2/10
Beth 6/10

this is shaping to be one the worst E3's in recent memory.
already know Ubisoft ain't gone save this shit with whatever overdramtic multiplayer voice chat game they got this year and Ass Creed.

still have very high hopes for Sony. TLoU2, GoW and Red Dead in my veins

I'm seeing people saying TEW2 looks great.

Was there some other trailer they released? What I saw was a CG trailer.

Its supposed to come out this year?

Ok, I'm starting to worry about GAF. I'm a pretty critical guy, and call out BS when I see it (which in gaming happens a lot) but that was a pretty fine conference. I'd give it a 8.5/10. Seriously. Lighten up GAF.

It was mostly CGI crap with some rare interspersed gameplay footage. As a person who has watched all live conferences the last five years or more, this was objectively bad. The theme park framing idea was laughable and very revealing about the thought process over at Bethesda. The coop game shown at the EA conference was honestly more interesting than anything shown here, and I would grade the full EA conference as a 1/10.

Yes? That's what people are saying. Two games are not worthy of a conference, especially one at such a horrible time.

They had the exact same at their first conference. Fallout 4 and Doom was all that was that had gameplay(and Dishonored 2 was completely non-gameplay), besides the same filler this had. Not seeing the big deal.

Yeah I'll go with that. Or close enough.

I was interested in Metro. Nothing else interested me.

I have more interest in The Evil Within 2 and Wolfenstein 2.

I wasn't aware The Man in The High Castle was a video game or had exclusive rights to that setting. Pretty silly to dismiss it out of hand because of this. Also if this was a 0/10, are you ranking negatives for the previous two conferences?

100% this.
I had to do a double take when they said they were done.
"But you didn't show anything at all!!"

Shit conference. Wolfenstein looked cool but I only thought the first game was ok. TEW2 looked fine, but I never played the first one.

Everything else: ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz

Grade: D+

My rating so far

EA: 2/5 - A Way Out saved it's ass from a 0.

Microsoft: 2/5 - Thanks for showing me the games I can pick up later on PS4.

Bethesda: 2/5 - The new Wolfenstein looks like some good fun for about 3 or 4 days.

Why would you not do that as a youtube video rather than a conference with an (alleged) stage presenter? The audience didn't seem all that interested in anything anyway

Best conference so far in terms of what I'm actually going to buy this year: Wolf II, Dishonored DLC, and Evil Within 2.

I haven't even played Prey yet.

So... exactly what Nintendo is doing?
