Xenoblade 2 confirmed for Holiday 2017

So maybe this is obvious and I didn't think about it but something I noticed...

So they posted Xeno 2 on the Japanese eShop with a release date of "To Be Determined". What's interesting is that under languages, it only had Japanese (same thing with MHXX and FE Warriors). I'm assuming Xeno 2 is coming out in Japan first THEN the West?

Just been to the motorcycle meet up in Austin that had thousands participated. Many women bikers had fishnet bikini outfits or outfits that resembled Pyra. I just don't see what's the problem. I'm sure many will get over it.

I like how the last Xenoblade game had a censored boob slider so you couldn't make the boobs too big. Then comes this game with the main heroine has watermelon boobs. Wonder if Noa will down size her.

Dunno why they can't just use the same studio as the first game for voice. Heavensward and Stormblood use it and it's fantastic.

Game looks good though, on the whole. Genuinely surprised it's coming out this year in any region.

well not really...yet
In the stream there was an option to customize your character though he doesn't click on it. So hopefully this will be the case. In the last 2 games you could so I'm hoping it's the same here.
Perhaps they have switched to an "outfit" system?

Any ways I have a feeling this game will be much smaller in scope and ambition than Chronicles and X, just a sinking feeling aided by the seemingly fast turnaround on the release date.

The combat system was an interesting change to how arts worked, but it seemed a little slow. Arts not being ready to use right when combat started made for a lot of standing around waiting for auto attacks to charge your bars. Hopefully this is just because this was really early game (started at level 5) and there are gems or whatever later on that speed up your arts charging.

The combo system was pretty cool though.

It's a bit funny for me to hear about Nomura designing a character for Xenoblade 2. After he got kicked off Final Fantasy XV, I started worrying about him leaving Square and wondered if Takahashi would consider working with him at Monolith Soft should that happen.

That was obviously before we found out about Nomura directing Final Fantasy VII Remake, but I guess he found time to work with Takahashi for a bit anyway.

I remember arts having pretty long cooldown times at the start of Xenoblade. If 2 still lets you upgrade arts (or blades), the number of attacks needed to charge an art could decrease in a similar way to art level ups in the first game shortening cooldown time.

On the Japanese site Takahashi's message said the game was conceived during a period between the end of 2014 and early 2015, during X's development. They made it in parallel.

The less (immediate options) is more (customization potential) approach to skill design for combat is pretty interesting. Not making things immediately available could also swing either way. It's nice they are trying new things though. I'm excited with the basis established.

Definitely hoping for dual audio after seeing the trailer. As far as story goes, there isn't enough to comment one way or the other at the moment. However, XC1 earned a lot of good will, so even though Monolith titles have been hit and miss, I'm still very excited about the game.

Yeah, her shitty thong/seethrough skirt is even more hilariously stupid when you see her complete lack of ass.

I would like to say though, that people shouldn't be hating on Pyra (think thats her name?) just for her boobs. Girls with "disproportionate" boobs exist in real life naturally, and its unfair to remove representation simply due to breast size. If you want better costume designs and character writing, sure that's fine, but women with big boobs exist too.

Like, try to count the amount of exceptionally busty female characters that are actually well developed characters, and not just fanservice characters. I genuinely can't name any.

Hopefully the graphics tighten up closer to release, if the story is at least better than XCX I'll probably nab it.

Girls with disproportionately large boobs tend to also have the baggage that comes with them (arm fat, sagging breasts), so Pyra is far from a realistic depiction, lol. They straight up didn't care about representation; they just wanted fanservice for the sake of fanservice, like in previous games.

Watch that phrasing or some people might read that as Monolith having two Xenoblade teams. Sounds like there's one team that mostly moved on to 2 as XCX was wrapping up.

Awful character art. Is the main artist famous or something? I need to know why these people are consistently getting hired.

Realistic body types? In my anime game?

The combat UI/HUD is a definite improvement over XC1 and (obviously) XCX.

Blade system seems interesting.

Character designs...well at least they're slightly better than XCX's.

The overall graphics of the game (at least the area in the 40-minute Treehouse demo) seem toned down and conservative.

Mixed feelings in general.

I wish I could be sold on this, because I really liked Xenoblade 1, but... I just can't get over the character designs. Yes, the designs in original Xenoblade were very anime too, but something about these just feel so wrong to me. The main female design especially, but the male MC is not much better either.

I'll most likely buy the game at some point, since I do hope the story and gameplay will be good, but even that worries me. Xenoblade X felt like a letdown on both accounts, and this game having a seemingly pretty fast development cycle doesn't instill confidence.

I mean it looks like it's just one design. The guy is contracted to do designs for other companies already. Don't see how this is any different.

I didn't mean anything serious by it. Nomura's clearly sticking with Square at this point. Those old musings I had were right after he had been forced off FFXV when people were wondering if he might leave the company after finishing Kingdom Hearts III.

I remembered reading about how Nomura worked with Takahashi a bit during the 90's and wondered if they kept in touch. I know it's just one design, but it's still nice to see Nomura contributing to one of Takahashi's games since I enjoy both their work.

I didn't know Nomura had other contracts outside Square, though. I assumed all of them were within the company.

Other than the Main characters' design the rest I do not mind that much. After watching the Treehouse footage I am even more excited for this game.

I'm hyped for this.

However, I kind of dislike the VA, Rex sounds so incredibly weaker than Shulk.

The grass pop-in I saw on the Treehouse seemed pretty severe too, like popping out two feets in front of you when you're running. Hopefully they have time to polish everything up before release, performance-wise.

The character models are remarkable improvements over the past games but I wish they got a better designer than saitom(a really strange choice for a nintendo game). And Atelier level models would have been amazing.

Still, I like quite a few

Plus the blade guy, nopon and robot kid, healer girl.

I'm hoping one or both of these two are playable. I like the nopon, but I don't want a party full of children. I need my Reyn/Sharla/Dunban spiritual replacements!!

I'm getting this regardless, looks great!

Aren't the character designs a non-issue, considering that you can swap out all of the armour for other sets, like in previous games?

I was originally worried it was 'too Anime' like the Tails Of series, but the treehouse demo sold me on it.

The people complaining about character designs or calling for censorship are out of their minds. Nintendo hopefully learned from the Fire emblem Fates shitstorms.

I don't understand how people can think XC1 and XCX had "good designs" but XC2 is where they draw the line. All these games have anime as fuck designs for the characters. How shallow are some people if a characters outfit is the reason they'll pass on a game?

was thinking the same thing...

Dreadful character designs, and visually doesn't look too hot.

Not feeling it at all, but will give it a go on release.

Christ, the English voice acting is really distracting, especially when compared to the 1st game.

I'm playing XBC right now in English and the difference in VA quality is insane.

Dual audio, please!

Yes, it should. Unfortunately Xenoblade armour sets are usually fugly.
Yea, that's true for the most part, lol

This wouldn't have been more than a few months before X's Japanese launch, so you're probably right.

1. I need a pyra amiibo, she's beautiful

2. Is there dual-audio? I know switch is region free and uses the OS's language setting to determine ingame audio, but if zelda got it, i wonder if xenoblade 2 will get support too

One thing that concerns me is that we never saw Rex jump in the trailers or the gameplay footage. I'm not sure we can in this game :/

I like the character designs, but I understand they're not for everyone. But hey its Xenoblade, the way characters look have always been an issue people take with the series but ultimately the main praise for the series has always been the fantastic world environments which continue to look great here. Really looking forward to playing this game this year.
