That was a very cute chapter. Happy for them both.

And now I'm dreading what's coming because god it feels like a flag was raised from this.

I still wanna know why his legs grew back normal and his arms can't.

There was a thread somewhere that talked about just this issue. tl:dr of it all was that it was due to how he personally manipulated his Kagune during his fight with Arima. As in most cases - and animals - legs are legs and usually not used as part of a predators arsenal. Whereas arms, or in this case claw hands are more similar to something a predatory species may have. Thus the RC cells adapted to this creating a more durable and offensive appendage for him - sort of like a secondary, mutated, Kagune.

EDIT: When talking about 'arms' and 'legs' read that 'arms' would be front legs and 'legs' would be the rear legs on a quadruped predator.

Ok......that was interesting. Yoriko is completely fine and just got married, so mutsuki pulled a bluff on Touka with a fake hand. I'll admit, I wasn't expecting that now, and (her/his?) Conversation with Urie was certainly heartfelt, but Mutsuki's looking for a blue rose in my opinion. Also, Aura's aunt lost both her legs, so that explains why he's so pissed at Kaneki. Ui's scene I need to read back over the previous chapters, as I'm lost about what happened there. Finally Touka and Kaneki....those two look really happy now, especially Kaneki, after that last chapter.

BTW, everyone will want to buckle up. That last panel can only mean all hell is about to break loose.

Yeah aunt Aura losing 2 legs explains why nephew Aura is so pissed, I just don't get how that happened, since Kaneki never actually harm anyone, he thought about hurting Arima to put a stop to him but still refrained at the end and took the stab instead.

I like this chapter, the art is so clean and I love seeing the good CCG people being happy and hanging out, these last few chapters are definitely calm before the storm, shit is going to go down. We have the whole last chapter with black frames and a butterfly front page, and this chapter ends with the whole "when I look at this I'll remember you Touka" and a Centipede, duuude.

we know what happened last time when Ishida end a page with a centipede :V

I don't remember Aura at all. I have no idea why I'm so bad at remembering characters in this manga.

The centipede this time looks scary as hell though.

she was there at the basement of cohclea with Mougan (macho guy with the mustache) fighting Touka and Ayato, we never get to see the end of the fight when Kaneki appeared, Mougan seems to be fine so don't know why Aura lost 2 legs. We don't really get to see her much though outside of meetings and mostly mentioned in dialogues.

So many ominous flags, Ishida is telling us shit's gonna hit the fan. And that ring for Kaneki to remember Touka by...

So Touka's about to die. Cool.

Fuck this.

Yeah, this whole revenge shit goes right above my head since I really never noticed these characters.

Honestly, I feel like Ishida's doing a bit of a 'Fake Flag' for us here. I mean not only is she the main poster girl for the manga, Ishida doesn't actually have that good a track record for killing main characters. At this point, we only really have three, and two of those were 'off-screen' - all the others haven't actually died.
I mean, yes we have had other so-called main/important characters die, but, how many of them would you say came from the main/central cast of the manga?

Long story short, do I think she'll die? No.

Is it a possibility? Yes, it's always a possibility.

And the ring? It could be seen as Touka's informal marriage proposal to Kaneki, a convent, of sorts, a promise really. I mean, this chapter is all about marriage, love and happiness, even with Aura's murder/revenge plot. And, it's something that has always been special to her - her most important possession - given to someone special to her. One could say he's now her most important possession. If you wanna be cute.

I think the legs healing is just to show the inconsistency with his body's regeneration, just like Amon probably do have healing power but his right arm grew all messed up, I'm thinking it's because they were not eating humans but they ate ghouls instead, both of them refused to eat humans, I mean growing into a kakuja from cannibalizing ghouls I wouldn't be surprised it's an issue

yeah i'd like to think we'll somehow end with a good ending, maybe a bittersweet one, with the whole parents dying/abandoning/abusing their kids theme through out the series, I at least see Ken and Touka will end up having kids and they will do the opposite of what he and Touka have gone through, and raise their kids properly, even if Ken might not have many years left to live.

edit: also Urie got friendzoned hard this chapter, I'm sure he has a thing for Mutsuki

Maybe this is all a big Red Herring and the actually suckerpunch will be
Hide returning, but also having gone through some Kaneki-level shit.

.

Maybe I should pretend this manga ended with 125. Good effort Ishida, 8/10 from me. Bye.

...

I'm gonna put faith in him being pretty awful at actually killing characters.

------------

Enjoyed the chapter, the Kyoko thing kind of shocked me. This doesn't seem like something Kaneki would do and with her being calm about it and those last two panels ... I reckon there's something about how that situation transpired that we still don't know.

Also, goddamn Ishida:

My best guess was that Kyoko and Mougan, knowing they were fighting a losing battle, tried to possibly trap themselves, as well as the ghouls escaping from Cochlea in the underground tunnel. I mean, they've both been shown to own Quinque that do massive damage to an area in front, or around the investigator. And it was from that, that something went wrong, with Ken possibly cutting off her legs to save her after she got trapped or something. But, unless we're shown that fight, we're going to be guessing blindly in the dark.

Tokyo Ghoul: re 127

Griffith... is that you?

I wonder if Ken is still cannibalizing, also nice to see 24th ward, it's the huge labyrinth where Arima and Sasaki/Juuzou used to fight in right? I wonder what kind of ghouls are the ones that moved deeper in.

Seeing how this arc is almost like a mini time skip and a new beginning, I wonder how many arcs we have left, I hope Ishida takes as many chapters as he need and not rush the finale.

Part of me feels that it isn't Kaneki, especially the "nameless king" part. But then why would Tsukiyama be there?

Next week should be interesting.

nah it's ken, don't think they'd replace him with someone else, nameless king came from eto's novel (also Haise/heißen was supposedly mean "to be named/nameless"? according to Kanae) , so some ghouls are probably just using that, i guess it's possible something happened in that tiny timeskip

i wonder if ken went deeper down into the 24th ward and slaughtered some ghouls, man he looks like he's been through some shit

some people think Touka got killed during that small time skip, it would be weird but knowing Ishida it's not impossible

also they've added a lot of religion symbolisms in :re, Eto on her talk on God, the apple, and how the tree is bearing fruit when Kaneki awakened, there's also the idea of V being the ones controlling the world and being the false god, etc

I don't think Touka's going to die, if we're going to draw parallels she'll probably get her shit fucked up but IMO not die.
pls

I forgot about the Eto connection, fair point. Still, think keeping Kaneki hidden like that is worrisome. I can't see Touka being offed during that time though, surely.

I've been reading Tokyo Ghoul and this series the past few weeks. I am enjoying breezing through the series, but I find the author's art a little frustrating. He seems to have a rather limited array of faces, and it can be difficult keeping track of who is who during an action scene (of which several might be happening for a dozen chapters). Is this just me?

I'm still reading it, though!

Hey, Mumei! It's great to see that you're reading this. You're not the only one. Sometimes the art is just not clear and I have to stare at a panel for some time to make out angles and faces. And don't get me started on names; I feel like an old person trying to remember names.

I'm not gonna lie, I rely on this thread to remind me who's who after new chapters. It's hard remembering.

His art is distinctive enough for me but he has a penchant for throwing a bunch of new characters at you every other arc (especially from CCG) without giving them lengthy or flashy introductions. I feel, he's been doing good job at gradually fleshing most of those characters out during the series, you really wouldn't have expected Takizawa, Hirako, Ui to amount too much given their introductions but they've all come long way. Still, by the time :re hits, the cast balloons to sizable affair and I wouldn't blame people much for forgetting some of characters.

yeah the main character faces are usually distinctive enough, other than the more generic CCG investigators that were destined to die but Ishida still bothered to give them names and faces, I think there were a lot of those in the auction raid, they eventually died out, lol.

I think :re's scale is bigger than TG, but it also make the fights a bit harder to follow at times, in the original it's mostly close combat martial art.

TG:re 128

I hope this whole dragon thing won't end up being lame.
they're bringing back Shirazu aren't they

I'm surprised Ayato got to the bottom that easily, I guess he still ran out of food and supposedly they don't need to eat as much as normal humans, so he's probably been in the labyrinth for weeks. Curious to see where they're going with this.

Ken is going full batman, but I think most of Goat are still killing humans lol

Really excited by the exploration into the 24th. Brings back an element of mystery that has been missing for a while since the Cochlea arc.

My Uta = old OEK theory seems to be have taken a grave hit ...

Some of these 24th ward revelations feel like they should have been foreshadowed more beforehand at the moment.

nah if she's pregnant the most likely outcome is that their child will live and one of the parents will raise the child properly given how none of the parents in the manga did a proper job at it, Ishida won't repeat the same shit.

but Ken likely won't have many years to live...

It's impossible for the OEK of old to be alive right? And how on earth did a labyrinth exist for so long in the city with no humans trying to explore it?

The CCG did explore it, Arima spent a lot of time in there, Suzuya and Sasaki went there for training, it's just so huge/dangerous that they never got to the bottom, and there were supposedly a lot of kagune walls that made it difficult

Glad to see that kid got caught so early, enough with the backstabbing motherfuckers :p

So Kuroiwa punched Mutsuki in the face right? Which will get Kuroiwa imprisoned and the news will reach Urie. Honestly I hope the Qs find out sooner rather than later that Mutsuki is fucking crazy, this whole thing seems to be a set up for just that, and I have enough of seeing Mutsuki every chapter.

Looks like there are quite a few things going on at the same time, I wonder what new stuff this old one eye dude will bring, at least we might learn the backstory of the Washuu/V Ghouls and the CCG.

I was kind of hoping they'd show more about the hidden city in ward 24, but I'll happily take the outing of that kid. He was a dead giveaway about who he was. Also that revelation about yoriko was pretty inevitable if I'm honest, although I'm hoping to see the conflict of loyalty within the Q squad after this.

Finally, I think we can all tell from that final page what's going on with Touka. I'm just curious as to what happens next.
