Spider-Man: Homecoming review thread [92% RT]

An actual good Spider-Man? I remember watching the first one a really long time ago and it was OK. Then they made some really weird spinoffs and reboots.

Too bad this one has to be part of some damn cinematic universe again, so I need to catch up on like 10 different movies to understand anything that is going on here, and there's no easy way to see all of MCU on Netflix or some other service. I'd rather not put in the effort of finding every movie. Fuck cinematic universes.

An 8 rating is not "above average" it's a great movie thats just not "AWARD WINNING" level. If hitting that level was easy then why is it that every other blockbuster struggles to hit it?

That doesn't mean it's some piece of shit assembly line product.

Y'all determined to hate huh?

No superhero film has hit an 8.0+ average on Rotten Tomatoes in 5 years.

People are going crazy for Wonder Woman and that's sitting at a 7.5

Mid 7s is upper tier for the superhero genre. Anything over 7 is "good"

No you don't. Not at all. That's not true for hardly any of these movies.

Iron Man is a rich playboy entrepreneur that kids like Peter Parker look up to, Captain America is an inspiring soldier-turned-superhero, the two had a falling out recently that Spider-Man got roped into, and before that they fought a bunch of aliens in NYC with their superhero team.

There, you're all caught up.

With good reason. They shouldn't have for almost 10 years imo aside from Logan

Not to say that 7ish average on RT is bad tho, far from it. People obsess over these scores a bit too often now tbh

The villain stuff is what is intriguing me. Mahvel might have finally figured out that they need better villains going forward.

I personally never had that much issues with any of Marvel's villains, the heroes are the main focus of the movies for me so I don't need that much development for them for me to enjoy them. The problem I have is that they can sometimes be too easy to beat and therefore anticlimactic. Ultron got his ass handed to him when the Avengers got together at the end to fight him.

It is good that people are enjoying Keaton though and it's the Vulture of all villains that is getting the praise, I suppose it's because he's quite unknown compared to other villains even to comic book fans so they have do more to make him a viable threat.

Those Gifs make me happy.

I really should watch ASM2 some day. I've rather liked Raimi's and the first ASM.

Well. Maybe. Someday.

Ultron is a perfect example of someone who needed more stuff to do. I dug that take on him, he just needed to dismantle Thor or Stark or Cap one-on-one at some point.

Edit: sorry for the double.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
29/30 reviews are good so far with it sitting at 97%. Looking pretty damn good so far.

I'm hoping that Thanos fixes this, the Avengers team is currently filled with some B list heroes that I'm sure are going to die but man it would raise the stakes a lot if one of the big guys are taken down (Captain America or Tony Stark).
