The grand finals for all of the games were quite good, where there any recent years that the majority of finals were this good?

Guaranteed
Street Fighter V
Tekken 7
Smash 4
King of Fighters XIV
Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite

Probably
Injustice
Melee- I woudn't be surprised to see this go

Two out of these Three
Dragonball FighterZ
BlazeBlue
GuiltyGear

Possible Newcomers
ARMS
Pokken DX
Shaq Fu- A Legend Reborn
For giggles, I'm really tired right now people
If they drop melee it'll just show back up as the fan vote. So might as well

Correction on my previous post...

Evo 2018
- Sagat and the rest of SF5 Season 3
- Dragon Ball
- Infinite
- BB Cross Anime
- Dissidia and/or the Arika fighter
- Tekken 7 + Smash x2 + Injustice 2

So not ready...

Sfv needed it badly, could be the start of turning the ship around.

Well, we just had an incredible top 8 which was on par or possibly better than USFIV in 2015. New content being added to the game recently, such as great looking stages doesn't hurt either. :) The game still need that rumored super SFV upgrade and they should turn this around.

Assuming DBFZ will be out until April, it's guaranteed to have a spot at EVO 18, ARMS is the wildcard, it's presence in EVO Japan will be a great test run to see if it has hype in it.

Both Smash games are guaranteed and you forgot about BB Cross, which would probably replace BB and GG. Might even see Dissidia or the new Arika game too.

I found on youtube the part where Tokido pulled out the Raging Demon finish on Punk *just* to get in his head. Rewatched it like 5 times and commentator reaction just gets me every time - i now just need one with Twitch chat because that erupted nonstop too lol

So KoF is a lock and Melee is a maybe? Yeahhhhhhhhh no.

The best thing about Tokido winning is that I always thought he lacked that spark from S1, as he always seemed a bit off this year. Glad he proved me wrong.

Idk about that. 2015 was really great. It was much better than last year though.

I'm proud of Punk as an American. I hope he takes his a learning opportunity and gets back up. So heartbreaking.

Tokido is a monster, the raging demon finish was sick. Loved James tearing up.

So many good finals this year.

Next year for EVO (assuming we don't see some of these announced games before that time):

SFV
Smash 4
Marvel vs Capcom Infinite
Dragon Ball Z Fighters
Tekken 7
Injustice 2

These ones are locked for sure.

I think GGXrd and Melee have good enough chance to return. The last game might be KOF14 but unlikely at this rate. There might be a wild card like ARMS.

If Blazblue Cross releases before EVO then it might replace GGXrd as the second anime game.

So was this, more emotionally too. Tokido's run was just something else, and he was going up against someone who was the very clear favorite and who sent him to losers earlier. I felt way more invested here but maybe it was because US had a shot

I feel like I say this every year, but that was the best Evo in years lol

Man, I wish I could say the same. Last great EVO for me was 2013 when Melee reappeared after such a long time and attempts from Nintendo to shut it down with the people shouting "One More Year" at the end.
Or EVO 2012 with CafeID invading out of nowhere The King of Fighters XIII, taking four spots of the Top 8. Also, my favorite 3D series, Virtua Fighter, holding such a great tournament that the Top 3 matches were moved to Sunday.

DBZ fighters next year gonna be huge brehs
Were the Tekken and Smash 4 Top 8s worth watching? I missed those. Also are EVO vods locked behind a paywall on twitch or nah.

Both ESPECIALLY smash was worth watching.

At least watch the finals of smash

Punk is an amazing amazing player, but for some reason he stiffened up after the reset. Or maybe Tokido and Mago scouted him very well?

And we didn't have the crap Elena healing ultra this year!

I could also see Dissidia making it potentially if S-E decides to throw some money around, they had a presence there this year so I wouldn't be shocked.

If we assume they do 9 games like they did this year (which I don't think is guaranteed and always makes Evo predictions a bit pointless IMO) I would guess something like:

SFV (lock)
Melee (lock)
Smash 4 (lock)
MvC:I (lock)
DBZF (lock)
Tekken 7 (lock)
Injustice 2/whatever the new NRS game is (lock)

Then the last two slots being Dissidia and GGXrd IF Blazblue Cross Tag isn't out yet and ARMS doesn't take off (seems unlikely IMO but who knows) in which case those become interchangeable. Melee simply draws way too many entrants/money for it to be removed unless Nintendo doesn't allow it, and NRS will moneyhat a game in even if it's still Injustice 2 and it's dropped off the planet by then.

Well to me it's hard to top 2015 because Momochi vs Gamerbee was much closer. Momochi vs Infil was incredibly close with Infil changing characters. Gamerbee vs Infil was a grind, but super enjoyable. You had Nemo's incredibly entertaining Rolento (normally don't like the character). And although I would never want it to happen again, the controller issue in grandfinals made the whole thing even more dramatic.

I do wish that the GF were closer but you were really seeing someone collapsing. The young favorite getting his inexperience exposed to one of the most deserving dudes, it was great to watch and hard to watch. Plus All of Tokido's matches to get there were competitive. Punk was the favorite and he showed it out the gate, America too.

Both top 8 were the best I've seen tho, I'll say that.

No he's really just a kid, this whole experience must have been something on him.
