So, people with the game I want to ask one question but I don't want to spoil anything with watching videos.
Can you hide the UI or does it hide itself with time?
Thanks.

I believe if you save the screenshot to the SD card, you can then put the card to your computer and retrieve it that way. The quality should be a lot better than posting from Switch directly into Twitter.

That's the only way I've ever done it and they still come out downsized and compressed.

Gamecentral completely gushing about the game in their preview. They tease a
64 throwback world that will "blow the minds of fans".

They think it's right up there with BoTW as far as respective preview impressions are concerned, and they consider BoTW to be one of the best ever games.

Omg my heart can't take this amazingness. One of the greatest video games of all time is about to be bestowed upon us.

Okay, so having downloaded some of the MP4 files, would you agree that this looks like 1080p, or close to it? Lack of Anti-Aliasing is a bit obvious, but it seems so sharp when I blow it up to fullscreen.

But how will it be in portable mode, i'm always worried now on switch...

Embargo is indeed up, here's GameCentral/David Jenkins': http://metro.co.uk/2017/09/20/super-mario-odyssey-hands-on-preview-platform-of-choice-6942636/

We were particularly elated to find an equivalent to Sunshine's void levels, the special stages where Mario's water backpack was removed and it was just you and your platforming skills against an extra hard level. The equivalent here is Cappy being taken away, so you can't make your own platforms and have to be extra careful with enemies. It seems to be entirely optional, but never have we enjoyed being proven rubbish at a game quite so much.

The void levels force you to go hatless!

Okay, no more.
Void levels like Sunshine
automatically removes any concern about lack of platforming people may have had.

Why is this game more than 5 weeks away?

This part got me hyped

Portraits in each stage seem to work as quick portals between kingdoms, and one of them let us get a sneak peek at one that’s not yet announced. We can’t say what it is but it looks amazing, and will blow the minds of Super Mario 64 fans

I'm gonna quickly make a new thread about the previews since a ton are coming out from big publications. This is the pre-preview thread. (?)

I don't get why people are so defensive about this. Why does everyone care so much that some of us aren't huge fans of how often gameplay footage so far has appeared to be "run forward"?

That was always false though, if you watch the Sand Kingdom gameplay from E3 for example. And the Metro Kingdom gameplay, while indeed light on platforming in the centre of its map (on the ground), is basically a hub to a bunch of mini-challenges which could have been individual levels in another game.

So you're in a dark, creepy, spooky ghost type level, but the boss is in some weird, bright, cheery room?

edit: also, those hammer bros. are actually throwing frying pans and not hammers? :/

The more I see of this game, the more it becomes obvious that it is bland and uninspired. A real, real shame as I was hoping this was a revival of 64 and Sunshine.

You tried.

I would normally preorder a 3d Mario the day I first saw footage but I haven't yet. Every now and then I think about doing it, look at some footage and go "Maybe not". Guess I'll wait for reviews and see what people say.

See you in the review thread to either say "I knew it" or to complain about how all these reviewers are biased towards Nintendo then.

Is that enough traditional platforming for you goons?

Yeah no but i have these really weird definitions of stuff and to me it's just not really platforming. It doesn't count if the color pink is in there, for instance.
So.. Any platforming without the color pink in Mario? Or red and green for that matter? No? You seee!! No platforming in the new Mario Game!

I wouldn't even say "light on platforming" really. It's just that there are fewer bottomless pits than in the sub-levels.

That gameplay footage has been "run forward" is laughable.

Yup, companies with the same pedigree

Again, im not comparing the companies or the games. Simply saying you shouldn't have to point out flimsy awards to prove that nintendo has far richer history of developing good games.
Simply saying e3 awards mean little. Not that mario will turn out like evolve because it got e3 awards.

I have absolutely no idea where you got that idea from, but no.

The answer is, no.

It's in the first video, yo. Right when Mario enters the door.

edit:

That's a cut by the uploader between two different levels. The gamersyde version shows what you really get through that door.

Ah, okay good. That makes more sense. It seemed pretty jarring otherwise.

Oh my bad, I thought you were talking about the new footage on this page, not the videos in the OP.

Anyway, the boss fight is clearly in the Luncheon Kingdom, not the Cap Kingdom. I guess if you haven't been following the game all that much you might not recognize it.

when I saw that jump I was like WTF, but I guess if you combine a frog's legs with Mario's innate jumping talents, this would be the result...

Looks a bit like the spring power up from Galaxy 2, just with better control. Really nice, now we need a mod of SMB3 so the frog suit gets Hyper Jump in overworld levels :D
