343 Rescinds Job Offer to Halo Community Member Over Forum Post

Did he actually sign a contract saying he was hired?

Because if he didn't, he wasn't formally, and shouldn't have jumped the gun as he did.

Like.

Dude.

Depending on what’s in writing, he could very well sue for whatever costs he incurred, (starting after the details in writing). But it wouldn’t be worth it and sounds like it was only a few days where he was confirmed, prior to rejection.

I'm sure the trans employees at 343 really want someone that called them clinically insane a month ago working next to them.

And this, boys and girls, is why you watch what you say on the Internet.

(And also why you probably want to work on getting past any hate you have in your heart.)

Just think about all the questionable people making the games we love. That’s just life I guess. Hell look at Destiny 2’s developers trying to sneak a white supremesis flag on a piece of gear.

I get the impression that these statements
were discovered by 343i upon making a second "background check" pass inspired by the first controversy - it would explain why 343i was initially still going to hire him, until the completion of closer review that discovered these toxic statements as a result.

That sounds pretty reasonable honestly.

I really don't think you read what i said.

The allegation is that they DID hire him knowing the comments he made. Told him it would be ok, then rescinded after he moved.

That's very different from simply not giving him the job.

Obviously, his actions lead to him not getting the job. But it's an unnecessary timeline that lead to him being homeless.

Pay attention before you try to patronize me

I read what you said, but some of the stuff you said isn't even in the OP. So I'm not sure where your reading this, can you give me links?

1.) Where was it stated he was hired? From what I've read, he only received a job offer. Job offer =/= hired. Hired and being fired is very different from a company doing a complete background check on someone they offered a job too. I really wouldn't call this "evil".

From that point my original statement still stands. 343i isn't evil for not hiring this guy. Yea, 343i should really hire a guy who made insulting comments towards their whole team, multiple times. If they don't do that, it's evil. /s

Did you ever think maybe, just maybe, if he didn't act like a jerk, he would have this job? That his direct actions led to this consequence?

His actions, his posts, the posts he liked, his attitude, they all affected his chances at the job.

2.) If it was a job offer shouldn't he quit his old job and move after he's officially hired?

3.) From what I can tell, 343i initially saw the comment that "no one at 343 deserves this job". Maybe they did some more digging/background checks like multiple people in this thread have suggested, or found other statements and decided he didn't want to hire him. You cannot blame 343 for initially thinking he made a few comments, but found worse things as they went on. Idk if that's what happened, but it is possible. Look at what Fyrewolf said, MultiLockOn says it's not true but who knows.

Um, it wasn't over that post. He harassed and internet-stalked multiple Community Cartographers and insinuated some pretty horrible shit about them. He knew what was up because he deleted all his videos where he harassed the CCs constantly as soon as he got his job offer.

Edit: Just look above my posts ^^^. If they simply read his comments and thought he might produce a toxic environment why the fuck would they hire him?

Going public about not getting a job after posting such statements seems like such a bad idea. The 343i comments, sure whatever. This is...somewhat more toxic. I wouldn't be surprised if those 4 AAA companies stop their talks with him soon enough

lol what an idiot.

Still glad to see they didnt fire him over that one post. the other stuff is definitely way out of line.

He wasn't even fired lmao, they just didn't hire him.

He sounds like a real winner.

The same place 343i went, to re-evaluate their positions after new information came to light. Which is a pretty sensible place to be.
You'd hope so

It is never not disappointing how much a ridiculous number of people are complete pieces of shit full of ignorant and impotent hate. The circle jerk of foul opinion is cowardly

Obviously talking about that site and other similar cesspools

Yikes. I'm amazed that Treyarch kept him on board if he was saying all this horrible stuff. I can only assume they were unaware of his online actions.

He's applying to a videogame company. Not the CIA. I doubt most videogame companies would even bother to do a formal background check. They sure as hell aren't going to be digging into messageboard posts, lol.

I have never heard of a real job that doesn't involve a formal background check. A standard one focuses if you're on the database for sexual predators/etc. and checks to see if you've been convicted of a felony. I am sure most jobs that are involved in the digital world do pretty thorough social media checks as well beyond the more formal SSN-based checks.

Oh, well, nevermind - not even the slightest sympathy for him. Beforehand, I was content saying that this was his fault and he should learn from this in the future. Now I just wish he was never offered the position to begin with. Or any position beyond being a McDonalds fry cook.
