I think if X-men compose DLC2 then we could easily see DLC3. That DLC pack is guaranteed to sell fuck loads. If it's anything other than X-men DLC3 gets real sketchy lol

Lol. Holy shit. Sonic Fox won set 1 with a perfect and won set 2 while inside the box by completely stuffing all mixups, blocking and comboing F Champ to death with Jedah from within that thing. That box is HIS HOUSE lol.

Shit was too good. Didn't matter if you pushblocked, tagged, or what. Sonicfox had traps and spinners constantly holding folks on lockdown. Welcome to Sonicfox Marvel fans. Quote of the night from the bum stream.

"Yo NRS...can you take your boy Sonicfox back?"

I skipped every cutscene in SFV's story mode. I guess I played for the FM? Those load times sucked. Is the SFV story any good? I guess I could just watch it on YouTube.

I do actually want to watch the MvC∞ story though. Weird.

I mean different strokes ofc but i thought it was hot trash. Im not really trying to roll over an ai, have a some story im not into play out via cutscenes, and have that repeat with 0 consideration for pacing.

It has some great moments that are not worth the price of entry imo, but like you said the fight money is there might as well get it.

It was similar in quality to MvCI. Not "good" persay, but enjoyable depending on your taste and love for the franchise. I found it to be good campy fun, with a couple of moments where I actually lol'd and 1 moment in particular that I thought was kind of touching.

I would say I probably enjoyed MvCI's a little more though.

There's a sizeable audience for them, people who are in it for the characters or lore. Fighting games have long been a character-driven genre after all.

Just watch the Zangief bits and call it a day. Maybe the scene where known racist Alex mistakes Dhalsim for a mugger.

Speaking of immigrating players, have there been any major non-Marvel players who have shown interest like Sonic Fox has?

Champ's team doesn't have the greatest chemistry. Ultron is just an all around character that puts out and has especially good risk/reward for this stage in the game, but doesn't necessarily have much besides that air command grab that lets Dorm charge up. He should go all in on Captain Marvel TBH, but I don't know if shes's any better with Dorm, but seems way more like his kind of character.

Woops dbl post

Id like to see champ experiment more, but i dunno what cpt marvel has over ultron besides armor. Like i feel ultron wins in normals, has cmd grab super that's invincible, has a projectile that beats prtty much every projectile afaik, plus i just think drone is a really great tool in this game. Im not an expert or have access to frame data tho, just saying this based off of feel

oh btw everyone there's a pc tourney starting soon if you are interested: http://challonge.com/tournaments/signup/U01LUAoZup
jk i got my dates wrong

Dumb lore question: is Captain Marvel a cosmic character who deals mainly with Earth-based threats (like Superman), or is she a cosmic character who operates mainly in outerspace (like the Guardians of the Galaxy and Nova)? I know she was an Avenger as Ms. Marvel, but for some reason I thought she became more of a space-based character when she took on the Captain Marvel name. I haven’t read a comic in years, clearly.

It's been both. She's only "cosmic" more recently since donning the "Captain" moniker. She was just a regular old Avenger in her Ms.Marvel days.

I kinda wanna learn Firebrand now after seeing Chris G's tweet lol. Any good videos or primers on him?

I need to play more but shit keeps coming up in life. Got online and got wrecked. Fuck getting old.

Edit: SonicFox is promoting this game better than Capcom is.

Highly unlikely they ever make it in at this rate, s2 will be what? 4 capcom 2 marvel? Yea doubt we ever see x men.

After the Street Fighter 5 redemption story, them admitting they made mistakes and new hype after the announcement of the arcade edition there is hope in this world for Infinite.

Hey maybe the fact that the game is in such a negative state gonna bring us X-Men even faster.

Such a redemption story isn’t impossible, but Marvel has a steep hill to climb to do so.

That would be nice, but the changes would have to be so drastic. As much hate as SFV got, it never had anywhere close to the hate MVCI had.

SFV got a lot of shit it didn't deserve. MvCI probably deserves the shit it's getting. SFV was a rushed project but the developers put a lot of love into it. MvCI feels like a quick and dirty mercenary job that has awesome gameplay by accident.

That's pretty disrespectful to the devs tbh.

People shat on SFV for everything. The gameplay got dragged even during the beta. It got dragged by everyone for months and months for not having content, having shitty online, no Zenny shop at release, constant errors, and more.

People at least talk posivity for MVCI in terms of gameplay. Rarely do people do the same for SFV.

No. You can tell this shit is well thought out.

The difference is the ragging didn't hurt the sales as much as they did MVC:I.
Though part of that could be there was less competition in a sense when SFV launched. MVC:I at the end of a crowded fighting game year plus the hate was more than that little game could handle.

I don't think it's a vitriolic backlash in the case of MvCI, but a boycott to make a statement. People were fed up with Capcom fucking up and they decided to just ignore the game (the original face for Chun Li broke the spirit of too many people lol. They need a better roster and single player modes which are engaging and should look toward NRS for inspiration (IJ2).

Maximilian was talking about this while the game was still in beta. People on his stream were putting pressure on him to shit all over the game, but he never went overboard because he loved the core gameplay (people were pissed about the DLC plans, roster, garbage production values, etc).

There was never one positive showing for infinite. Even the announcement was filled with people shitting on it for being 2v2.

SFV inherently appeals to a wider audience of more casual fighting game fans. The VS series has always been more niche by comparison just because how fast pace and intimidating it is to get into. So MvCI doing worse than SFV was a given to me.

They might have counted on the Marvel name to appeal to non-fighting game fans. Shame their marketing blew that so hard.

I don't think it's by accident given most of the work comes from UMVC3 with a change in the tag mechanics.

I guess I'm talking about post release.

Fair game to say that people shat on it pre-release,and I think SFV coming out as it did really didn't do it any favors.

But MVCI's path isn't too difficult. Change the UI, up the graphics on some of the characters, apply that good PR, and split up the DLC prices. Everything else is set in stone right now as decent to good, inlcuding the gameplay, the online and its modes, and more. Yeah story could be better but it's not deft of content like SFV was.

SFV had core problems that people didn't like, such as 8frames of lag, horrible online, gameplay that wasn't as deep as previous entries, and a huge lack of content. That was bedrock shit. MVCI is just soil deep right now.

The SFV negativity spread out toward MvCI and it's the latter which suffer the most in term of commercial reception. At this point, SFV has it's shop and plenty of stages and will be fleshed out next year while MvCI will be a bomb of epic proportion. XD They need to overhaul the single player content + roster and they can salvage this given how good the core gameplay and netcode are.
