Yeah, so I can kick his bowl cut ass lmao.No. I do not want Nintendo to start throwing in characters from popular culture.
Harry Potter has had plenty of games, should he be in Smash?
Because funimation is the biggest dub distributor of dragon ball in the west. And of all their dubs, dragon ball is by far on of their most popular and it helped get them off the ground back in the toonami days. Id say db is just as important to them as it is to Toriyama (Id say TOEI, but GT and the shitshow first half of db super happened...)Since when Goku is funimation's boy? It's Toei's and Toriyama's.

To those who think theyre being literal may be looking too deeply into it.Right, but the fact that Goku is important to them doesn't make him their property. Like I said, their "hope" doesn't mean anything.
I guess English isn't your first language... When they say "our boy" they are referring to the fans, not Funimation exclusively.Since when Goku is funimation's boy? It's Toei's and Toriyama's.

Point is funi wants one of the most recognizeable names in anime history to be a playable character in ssb. And i want that to happen because id rather get goku than another FE/mario/KI clone
Where they said "our boy"? There's no source, and the title say "their boy".I guess English isn't your first language... When they say "our boy" they are referring to the fans, not Funimation exclusively.
Sorry for triple post, went to recheck and there is a source, but I missed, maybe cuz it's too small on my phone, my bad!Where they said "our boy"? There's no source, and the title say "their boy".

Please tell me your opinion on Spawn, Yoda, and Vader being in Soul Calibur?
don't know why people keep saying he's not a video game character.
Well I seriously doubt theyd choose TFS' MasakoX over Sean Schemmel for an official production.I just don't want Goku yelling he's the hope of the universe and the terror that flaps in the night.
I’m struggling for a way to explain what a fundamentally different thing a game about crossing over other games is from a fighting game built around original characters in a way that won’t appear to insult your intelligence, so I’ll just suggest you think that through and try again.
They’re not remotely comparable.
Mega Man, the Pokèmon, even Kirby all ended up with animated series. But they were game characters first. That’s the key for Smash.
Plus bandai made the last smash bros. They own the rights to publishing dbz games so theres a connection thereNoticed.
Doesn't explain R.O.B, he was an accessory.
In addition Goku is a nothing short of a national idol. His creator Akira Toriyama has a long history of creating memorable characters in games such as Chrono Trigger, and Dragons Quest. I for one think it would be a fine gesture to his legacy and commitment to their culture and Nintendo to include Goku in Brawl.
But don't worry my intelligence won't be insulted if you disagree.

Guest characters are always welcome if they can be added.
I'd play the shit out of fucking Jon Snow if they put his ass in Smash.
Snake's inclusion in Brawl was a bit weird too. Yeah there was that Twin Snakes game on GCN, but is that really enough of a reason to include him? Apparently so. Who knows how they decide on this stuff.

Smash is a crossover fighter celebrating everything Nintendo+gaming. Mostly Nintendo. It really starts to lose its identity and appeal if you just start throwing in random pop culture characters in there.
Kojima specifically asked Sakurai to put Snake in Smash.
someone gets it, here's a general rule of thumb: the only characters added to smash are the result of a first party partnership. Nintendo wouldn't just add characters because they're fan favoritesIt should only be historically video game characters. Not characters that have appeared in games
