Kickstarted in the Butt, Zoe Quinn & Chuck Tingle FMV Game no info since over 6 months

Looks like we have another scam artist going around cashing in on that kickstarter money. Remember Zoe Quinn? 3 Years ago she started a kcikstarter campaign for a FMV game called Kickstarted in the Butt (I think thats the name) and raised over 85k . But it has become really silent. Zoe and CO ignoring peoples questions since over 6 months and the last development Update was in August 2017. Interesting is also that people like Jim Sterling back than promoted this game but he also has become very silent about this game.

Project Tingler’s developers have ignored repeated attempts at contact outside of Kickstarter via both e-mail and social media. Twitter messages to both lead developer Zoe Quinn (@UnburntWitch) and project manager John E. Warren (@FloppyAdult) remain unanswered despite being active users of the platform. Games Journalist Jim Sterling (@JimSterling), whose name and participation lent credibility to the fundraising campaign, has also ignored contact attempts. Other “core team” members include Karla Pacheco (@THEKarlaPacheco), Elby Teufel (@hunktears), and Seth Boyer (@sethboyer).

The $85,448 raised by fans and supporters of indie game development, women in tech, and anti-harassment advocacy remains unaccounted for.

I wonder if any games "journalist" will write anything about it. MY guess is no they will not.

Ignoring all the political bullcrap, the unfortunate truth seems to be that most crowdfunded projects are failures and/or disappointments.

Even something like Bloodstained is a dud, really. The game just isn't that good. The vast majority of these projects don't turn out well.

The game isn't even out, and was pushed back specifically due to feedback from a preview build. I don't think it's quite fair to say it's a dud. It hasn't been released yet.

I know that, but there's no way they're going to completely redo the art in the game, which they would basically have to do for it to be what people want. It ain't gonna happen. I'd bet large amounts of money that it'll end up a disappointment to most.

Well. Supporters of that kickstarter deserve to lose their money. Poetic justice.

But.
Why Jim, why?

We definitely don't need another FMV game.

But what we do need is a lot of outrage from dudes that didn't kickstart said FMV game. I got a fever, and the prescription is more cowbell!

Well that's a bit hypocritical.

If we are advocating freedom for developers this means freedom for all developers to make the games they want to make.

In fact the best way of providing diversity to gaming would be by making different products that serve different groups of customers - that way we can enjoy our DOA3 Extreme and they can enjoy their social justice FMVs and both groups can ignore products not addressed to them.

It's tough to make a game with a fully funded budget. I don't know what type of game was promised here, but $85,000 is a pittance and won't get you far.

People have weird misconceptions about Kickstarter. Donating money is not the same as buying a game. Instead, you're funding development for a product that may never see release, or that might see release but in a dramatically altered form.

I get the feeling that Dunki posting it is not about his outrage about the game, but more about the hypocrisy of gaming journalists, who descend like locusts at central european devs to create outrage over missing blacks and genderfluids and twitter jokes while ignoring what seems to be a pretty damn scammy way to (non)develop a game by their fellow social injustice moron.

Maybe she should have her journalist buddies help promote it more. :pie_raybans:

Oh wait, that would shed light current situation of seemingly... Nothing.

I remember watching some video about this.

Idk whatever chuck tingle is but seems like fan service for women and gay men?

Personally not surprised a drama queen flakey person is having a hard time putting a game together.

Chuck Tingle is an erotica writer. The kickstarter went $15,000 over it's goal. Looking over the page the game looks like a joke attempt just to sucker people out of their money. I guess it worked.

Doesn’t she also have a personal Patreon or something? Where is this money going if not for making games?

I just checked out her patreon. lol, scamming SJWs out of almost $2k a month. Not a bad result for her

I don't see the problem with this, kickstarter projects fail all the time. I have yet to see any donators talk about feeling cheated by her, it's their loss not yours...

I agree with this, but why the lack of communication? Quinn is on Twitter every day, but she can't respond to backers who are tweeting at her? She can't provide an update on Kickstarter? The last update was on January 1st 2018.

I'd bet on her just pretending like this never happened and pocketing the cash. It's not like any game journos are gonna get on the case and start asking questions.

While this project is really scummy, how is getting $2000 a month from patreon scummy? Are you saying that she's not delivering the Patreon rewards or producing what she's intending to produce?

I didn’t say scummy or any of the other things you said. I was implying that a bunch of white knights are being suckered out of money on a talentless person who they would never have given money to if she wasn’t one of the faces of progressive outrage

I strongly dislike almost every game on that list, but that's just me. Something not on here that I did like and think turned out well was Overload, the new Descent game. It was notable to me, because I thought to myself, "Wow, a Kickstarter game that I actually like."

Mea culpa on misreading scammy and scummy, but you did say that she was scamming them (which in itself is scummy) and that implies she's defrauding them somehow, which further entails my point: how is she scamming them?

Her CON site was a scam, its not surprising this one also failed. All she is good at is being mad at everything and taking advantage of the outrage mob.

Have you seen the stuff that she has made? Such as this ‘tool’ for helping game developers: http://www.sortingh.at/
It’s a bunch of shit. Maybe ‘scam’ is not the correct word, but saying she needs $3000 a month to make this stuff is laughable

Quinn could make a followup kickstarter tonight for the sequel to this unreleased "game" and the same suckers would fund it.

Wow, that is bad. That's a bad student project done in 5-10 minutes. How much money did she get to make it?
Anyways, making something bad isn't necessarily a scam, if what was promised was delivered. Furthermore her supporters are accepting that level of work if they're continuing donating to her, meaning either it's satisfactory or they're just donating for political reasons, which is also fair, though then it would be just better to be a reporter or blogger instead of doing shoddy work like that.
