The SoC has/had a name along and it makes sense Anubis / Scorpio, you can see where they are heading with that.
As for the rest it seems to hold true looking at GDC presentation, the Dante XDK (Arcturus) also seems to be true but was a early version just like Sony's.
Reading responses from industry people I get the impression that the Jeuxvideo "leak" was real in terms of performance and/or expectation for both companies.
What Arcturus is or isn't is another question altogether and no word on that yet, except it was in the XDK called Dante which was leaked in January/February through Reddit.
I wonder how many noticed that the XDK supports Wi-Fi 6 (WLAN_80211AX) and TrueAudio Next? (TAN), I believe it's an evolved version that was on PS4 also and posted a link from days ago (Sony calls it 3D Audio).

Just as Navi has been scheduled for release (scalability, 7nm and all that) this year, the GPU after it seems to be the same as we haven't had any indication to state otherwise (except ill thoughts from 1 side).
Polaris debuted in 2016, Vega 56 in 2017, same scenario's as the upcoming GPU's but most likely a lot learned and 7nm / EUV should help with what they've been trying for the past 5 years (watch AdoredTV).
Of course until it all becomes a reality, the platform holders do their interviews after release and/or the systems get a teardown we might not get a clear-cut answer and everything is fair game until then.

I went back and listned to a podcast with Him and Garnett Lee during e3 2013 and Giess had nothing but snark and hostilty towards the ps4. I cant remember if it was post e3 or inbetween the MS/Sony show though.

I was referencing actual GPU metrics, not framerate measurements, which thanks to PS3 only having one CPU core were often limited there long before hitting the GPU in cross-platform games.
Honestly, I was never one to keep lists of this kind of stuff (and presumably neither are you, or you could already answer your own request one way or another).
Fortunately there are people on internet that do this stuff for us - B3D keeps a list and I just went there and counted 5 games there that were 2x resolution on PS3.
It's by no means exhaustive, but there it is.
Now we're talking about memory subsystem redesigns. Even with the same GPU, PS3 could be noticeably improved if it got one.
More to my point though - the idea is for Cell to share memory space with the GPU for graphic-workloads, embedded framebuffer just introduces extra complexity in making that collaboration effective.

Not just fps, DF done in depth analysis of graphics effects and resolution differences and specific effects tanking PS3 FPS and usually explained how it was due to an advantage Xenos had over RSX

If its "more advanced" than the PS5 then Sony probably doesn't have to worry a whole lot about overpricing their hardware.
With the way Cerny was talking about the PS5 hardware I was extremely worried that Sony was walking into another "$599" trap, or in any case walking into a similar shit dynamic that Microsoft found themselves in at the beginning of this cycle. If Microsoft is actively oneupping them on the hardware department, then this probably isn't going to be a major concern. We may end up with some shitty future where both consoles are $500-$600,.

Yeah i expect some pretty interesting customizations from the ps5 gpu that will later appear on future amd chips.
While I agree 100%, I tend to agree with him for the most part.
With devkits going out in full force this month from both Sony and MS, there will most likely be fairly accurate leaks coming out relatively soon.
I think Gies is just stating the obvious really. The real issue will be discerning the legit leaks from all these fake ones.

2. We don't know jack shit about devkits or any kind of precise suprising info. What we know is what everyone knew about them without getting any leak. That they will be navi based with zen cpu.
The only real question is: "what is navi". Is it GCN upgrade, strong redesign or new architecture.

The meltdowns and damage control in 2013 and early 2014 were amazing to behold. Gies and others were trashing the PS4 at every chance, while trying to sell their readers the XBox One. Eurogamer was frequently posting articles praising the XBox One "balanced design" versus the PS4 only being "superior on paper", not to mention the angry editorials throwing tantrums over PS4 sales. Never before, or since, has blatant control over the press, or just plain fanboyism among "journalists", been more evident.
