Yep, pretty much.60fps will NEVER be the norm. Just accept it.
As long as graphics are the main selling point of games, you will have most games targeting 30fps.
The new CPU legit means 60 FPS will be norm. Ray Tracing means lighting and object creation gets physically based streamlined, artist can now focus on details of photo realism.
Gonna be pretty cool. Expect Pro consoles in a few years but sony is betting a PS2 renasaisance on PS5, they were like this pre PS3 too. Gameplay innovation isn't the same though, everyone is copying one another.
If MS and Sony require devs to add both performance (locked 60) and resolution (locked 30) options in every game like some of the games this gen did because of the Pro and X, that'd be great.60fps will NEVER be the norm. Just accept it.

Performance modes basically mean unlocked framerates. Sony or MS will never demand a locked 60 fps from devs because that would cause devs to avoid their platforms. A locked 60fps requires TONS of Optimising of everything in the game, and no dev or publisher wants to invest the time and money in it. While if you have you game running between 30-50fps (like a min-max exampl) it's much easier to have a 30fps lock.If MS and Sony require devs to add both performance (locked 60) and resolution (locked 30) options in every game like some of the games this gen did because of the Pro and X, that'd be great.
Maybe the specs he has for Nextxbox is not that stronger lol

It also depends on how much they cost respectively (everything else being equal).Ok that makes sense
30x is such an insane multiplier beyond next gen leaps even
Casuals don't give two shits about 60fps. Leaning on graphics fidelity will sell way more consoles and I'm totally on board with this.60fps will NEVER be the norm. Just accept it.

HBM2 doesn't seem like the right direction. The bandwidth is really low compared to GDDR6. I also thought NAVI was supposed to be GDDR6.It is becoming interesting...
The same guy that leaked that HMB2+DDR4 config for PS5 leaked the new PS4 model in 7nm this year.
Sony financials is clear about higher hardware cost reduction to increase sales (16m forecast).
Seems the leaker for now is matching the PS4 side.... maybe the PS5 side will become true too?

LOL I remember way back when the PS2 specs were announced. 6.4 GFLOPs!!60fps will NEVER be the norm. Just accept it.

Am i mistaken or i read 7 nm UAV? What do you think of that?It is becoming interesting...

10 days ago.Uhh, did he leak the new ps4 model after the Sony report or before? If its the former, anyone could’ve done it.
EUV... Extreme Ultra Violet... it is what TSMC uses in 7nm+ and future 5nm.Am i mistaken or i read 7 nm UAV? What do you think of that?

Well he says they could reach 17Gbps without voltage changes... so ~435GB/s.2 stacks of HBM2 @ <= 1.6Gbps would put it at <= 409 GB/s graphics memory bandwidth (same as Vega 56).
Hopefully that is not indicative of the graphics performance we can expect.
No way Lockhard is only 4TF. I'm betting on 8TF and 14TF.
Okay yeah I was confused about that part. So he’s saying they bought HBM2 that couldn’t hit 1.6 Gbps at 1.2v, but with this new tech they can hit 1.7 GBPs?Well he says they could reach 17Gbps without voltage changes... so ~435GB/s.
It's no different than optimizing for PC at this point. More toggles and switches for more effects and resolutions. Xbox One X games look phenomenal, but that doesn't mean the Xbox One held any games back. They just enable more settings and provide 4k Asset packs. So that means every Xbox Next game will have to be made with Lockhart consoles in mind. This will be super stupid for MS in my opinion.

That is not cost effective from what I see...What if its 16GB HBM2 and 8GB DDR4, wouldn't they get 870 GB/sec from the HBM2 and come close to Osiris' 880 GB/sec?
Why do you think they are buying studios then, to win GAF number wars ?

That's how it is on PC, why would that be too much of an issue for consoles? Wouldn't the CPU benefit from the reduced latency from DDR4?Huh. Devs will not appreciate that. Separate RAM pools.
16GB DDR4 + 8GB HBM2.
So we'll have 8GB HBM2 for graphics and 12GB DDR4 for CPU, plus 4GB for OS? That's so confusing.
Exactly, that's how it is on PC. Not in consoles. Pretty much every dev complained about separate pools in the PS3 compared to the shared one on XBox 360.That's how it is on PC, why would that be too much of an issue for consoles? Wouldn't the CPU benefit from the reduced latency from DDR4?
It is only one pool due HBCC.Huh. Devs will not appreciate that. Separate RAM pools.

They actually have improved a lot under Phil Spencer and are just doing there own thing. How’s rare doing these days...

PS5 definitively will be around over 12TFs.
What's HBCC? And how is it one pool if the BW is different? It is only one pool due HBCC.
20GB for games.
4GB for OS.
It is not separated pools... it is only one just like PS4.

I expect a 7nm PS4 and price reduction this year. $199 or $249 at least.
I got a ps4 with UC4 for 250 back in 2016. I would hope it would be cheaper than that.
250 that is.
199 or bust.
The main issue wasn’t the two pools of RAM but rather the small amount of memory. They were stuck with just 256 MB VRAM unless they dealt with the two separate pools, whereas with 360 they could use as much of the 512MB as they wanted.Exactly, that's how it is on PC. Not in consoles. Pretty much every dev complained about separate pools in the PS3 compared to the shared one on XBox 360.
Do you guys understand that the weaker nextgen Xbox will be the base console again in the next generation just like XONE is in the current? Everything will be built around that so let's hope it will be much more powerful than 4TF...
These guys don't understand what you are saying. They don't understand that making a game for a 4TF console is different than doing so for a 14 TF console. Even if it has the same RAM and HDD.
Depends on the devs. Some can make games that scale well. It's gonna be CPU(Imo) that makes a difference.
I would rather have devs have a top tier baseline, pushing a Crysis (as it it would not even run on the 4TF regardless of same CPU and resolution), taking advantage of all that power, than scaling something that looks cross gen/mid gen refresh from day zero (all gen long) with only a resolution boost and added minor tweaks to shadows, etc. due to a handicap.
And what happens if there are mid gen refreshes 3-4 years in again? Even more redundancy of power or an ass'ed out 4TF system?
