Apple to Release Gaming Mac in 2020

Laughable. This makes Nvidia’s tactics look reasonable by comparison.

Apple is a joke these days and I have no idea why anyone would entertain their non-sense. Plus it's not like their iMacs don't already have GPU's capable of gaming?

People don't buy Macs for gaming and Apple should know this. I seriously doubt we will ever see this $5,000 gaming Mac.

Not to mention anyone who's gaming on Macs are already building hackintosh's and are building images with virtual machines so it's not like they don't have an option.

That gave me a good laugh into 2020. $5k for a gAmInG pC, this is not how you people to join your ecosystem. But then again people will buy it.

It takes courage to sell a gaming PC for 5k, you don't understand. Watch it featuring a gimped 5700, no upgrade path besides two or three Apple branded "GPU" years down the line for triple the price of comparable GPUs. USB-C output only. Oh, and it comes with a sticker.

are in a big trouble
Hope this is true so I can watch Youtuber Jonathan Morrison spin it as a positive that its 5k

What for? Is there about to be a massive development for Metal API? For $5000 you can build an amazing custom PC with all the hard drive options you want + liquid cooling.

I don't get the hostility. Competition is good and having a mainstream-viable desktop OS other than windows is a good thing.

Macs and mac os have a public and it's good that it exists.

I don't game on PC, but is it the usual Apple pricing?.........

Take Apple retail price and cut it in half. Then you get the equivalent PC spec at that reduced price.

Amazing how so many Apple zealots buy this shit especially millenials. I thought millenials were all about anti-corporation, anti-big business, anti-CEO billionaires, anti-oppressive ecosystems.

Yet Apple is among the biggest and most profitable companies in the world with jacked up prices and a walled garden.

If anything, Apple gear should be last, and they'd buy up Android stuff for cheap where it's totally open to do what you want

Guess I was wrong..

What's more sad is that there are people that will line up and drop the 5K just to check their email and watch vids just because it's the latest Apple product...
Yep they released a monitor stand, just the stand not the monitor for $900 last year and people were actually defending it. It must be nice to have that much disposable income. Meanwhile I just spent $700+ on my cars cv joint and wheel bearing replacement today and it took half my bi weekly paycheck and I'm crying inside.

Seriously you can run every pc game at 1080p for under $600 if you own a monitor already and buy and build yourself.

I hope they don't make any compelling exclusive title on their platform because obviously I won't buy their overpriced products

Many of them don't have the money but get sucked into having the shiniest gear to show off.

I know university interns at my company who got the Apple X (I think it was $1,000), yet for lunch they eat cheap shit and have student loans acting like a typical no-money student.

Yet somehow have cash for the latest iPhone, which nobody in the office even has and we're all established career people with money.

well apple has been trying to diversify its income sources lately. seems far fetched, but worth keeping an eye on imo. but if apple is involved, get used to $100 videogames lol

I don't see this ending well. Apple can get away with charging so much for iPhones because they dominate the Smartphone market. But they have no actual presence in the gaming arena, and nobody buys Macs for gaming. If this does end up being that expensive, it'll more than likely fall flat on its face.

No you see Apple ceo and crew virtue signal about their latest progressive cause so these fools eat it up. Like soda and shaving brands making advertisements that have nothing to do with the product, just to virtual signal about how they hate x people or about how woke they are. Morons and their money soon to be parted.

The last apple product I bought was an iPad mini 1st Gen. It stopped playing certain popular games and certain apps after 2 ios updates and apple support said to bad time to upgrade and I said hell no. Android tablets here I go. I previously had an ipod 3rd Gen which was reasonably priced and then Steve Jobs died and Apple went to shit. Before that the last Apple product I owned was an apple iic circa 1986. Always been a pc builder since the early 90s, will never buy apple again, even their phones are crap when they intentionally become obsolete and are programmed to slow down after 2 years in a way to force you to upgrade. Meanwhile you could go buy a used galaxy s5 and still have a functionally good phone today.

Does it come with its own license for Windows?
Personally I think Apple hardware is mostly pretty good it’s the price they charge that’s crazy.
I do have a iPad but that’s it from Apple.

Hmmm.... I envision a sleek, minimalistic game console tied down by the shackles of Apples dictatorship and lack of exclusives...

Sexy.

woa, and I thought that xbox was the most hated brand on videogame forums lol.
Yeah, I don't think it makes any sense for Apple to release a gaming machine, although I have to say that my MBP 16 is working much better than expected with the games I tried (Tomb Raider and LOL).

I like Apple, but gaming is not their arena. If they really do this and ask 5k for it then yeah...... not gonna happen.

My first purchase from Apple was the sublime Macbook Titanium in 2001. Apple, back then, wasn’t popular, and the only people interested in their products were the Apple enthusiasts.

I remember that during the summer of 2001 there was hope amongst the enthusiasts that Steve Jobs was going to reveal a powerful new desktop - but when the reveal actually happened all he demonstrated was ‘a crappy, over-priced music player’.

Everyone lol’d at the iPod and its ludicrous price-tag - but I bought one as soon as the reveal was over because it was such a thing of beauty and also because the pure functionality of it was unlike anything else on the market. When the iPod finally arrived the reaction from my family and friends was the same each time - people would walk away for a half an hour with my iPod in hand and return beaming.

I agree that $5,000 is a lot of money - but I’d rather wait and see what Apple has actually come up with before I shoot this down. They’re capable of hitting it out of the park - it’s just that it’s been a while since that’s happened.

Hardware is not an issue, it's there, they just have to go out and ask AMD/Intel/Nvidia for what's needed. Price is also not an issue, as Apple has their (rich) audience. The biggest issue however, is all those DirectX-based games that are not available on Apple's ecosystem, that's why their products are not considered as a gaming platform, not the insufficient hardware.

people who have money or can afford it and be broke for the rest of the month/year really think that if you dont have apple products you are seen as less worthy and you join the plebs in buying other brands. apple gives status in their eyes lol.
So you would be suprised ;)

Errr...

Exactly. This is all a non-starter until Apple and Nvidia makeup and Apple supports Vulkan. Neither of which I see happening

to be fair USB C is a standard.

No source for this 'news', just a 'rumor from Taiwan'

Why is anyone even giving such obvious bullshit any credence?
