Head of Xbox Phil Spencer makes his long-awaited return to Unlocked for an exclusive one-hour interview. We talk about Xbox Series X price, whether coronavirus could delay the console, the first-party launch lineup, why there's no optical out port on Series X, xCloud, cross-play, the fates of Sunset Overdrive, Ryse and Scalebound, which Microsoft IP Phil would like to see brought back, and more!

hardware out, get software finished, make sure everyone is safe etc.
I'd say they have it the easiest among the 3 platform holders because of their core business, the services/platforms they own so I reckon they are highly integrated.
Hardware side of things is final (DF showed the final specs) and Xbox did an amazing job with their website so that's off to the manufacturing facilities soon-ish.

Says he has the full backing of Microsoft with Satya Nadella (CEO) and Amy Hood (CFO) and believes they have a target price that can win. He also name drops the Xbox All Access plan.

Kudos. Hopefully someone will provide a full TL;DW version soon.

Phil has became greyer...

say that "the fates of Sunset Overdrive, Ryse and Scalebound, which Microsoft IP Phil would like to see brought back, and more! " if nothing is going to be done is not a good move imo

There will be first party launch games on day one, and first party games over the 'launch window' (spread over the first 2 or 3 months).

What else would he say? "I felt like shit so we're cancelling the new Xbox."?

Watch the interview... he was respectful of what Sony showed and specified that the audio and SSD are awesome but said after seeing what was shown he felt good and then I think he went back and said VERY good about their position. He also said their pricing is going to be agile and that they have the full backing of the company.

I know we have to wait until pricing is unveiled and for preorders to open up to know for sure but looks like Microsoft is going ALL IN this launch even if they have to take a decent hit on the hardware financially.

For those that now keep saying price and games matters most it looks like Xbox is playing this new generational launch smart and it will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Exactly. Why would a PR guy say anything different? It's almost as if he's selling a product that is expected to generate billions of revenue for years to come. Your .gif response was a bit confusing tbh. The quote was as boilerplate as you can get.
He could of said 'i dont want to talk about Sony, i'm sure they will have a brilliant machine' etc. I mean sure Ryan was trying to goad him into sayiing something fanboyish, but still Phil said he felt very good where they are at after watching Cerny, with a huge grin while saying it.

That was a great listen, he answered most of the questions as well as he could.

Intriguing stuff about the long-term planning, he basically admitted he has a "winning plan" and feels good about it. I can only imagine the heat they'll turn up as we get closer to launch, it's gonna get feisty ladies and gents. Hopefully, all for the better!

Couldnt understand which game Phil said when was asked about one IP he would personally loved to be back, at the very end of the interview. Heard something like "Mac"?

Any pro poker players here? Phil scratched his head and touched his nose when Ryan said Perfect Dark.

Is it a tell?

He was talking about Mech. I'd love to see a new MechAssault and Crimson Skies.

His comments on pricing make me think it's going to be below $499 but we'll see.
