Yes, I've watched the leaked footage and examined it in depth, and my takeaway is that the game looks great, really fucking good. I don't have an issue with any of the content and I feel that "the fanbase" are overreacting wildly.
Honestly, much of the internet response to the leaked footage has left a foul taste in my mouth. I kinda expect to read a lot of stupid hot-takes on the internet, but this has really taken the cake.

As someone else said here, the way they disrespect the characters and shit on the fanbase is beyond the pale. I've never seen anything quite like it in any form of narrative media before, it's that bad.
It takes quite a lot to ruin a games legacy, and they've managed to do it. We know the plot, we know what happens, we know how it happens.
The fan base didn't just wake up one day and decide to cancel pre orders for the hell of it.
There are REASONS why people are pissed. And trust me you'll be thinking the same way as we all are when when you play it.

More so that because a few spoilers hit you still dont have context as to the why and how etc. Your missing the entire plot and calling it trash before even experiencing it...how do you know its trash? i was super excited for the game, loved the first one. But not only the leaks made me reconsider buying it, the fact that Druckmann mentioned Anita Sarkeesian's BS as something good and that all devs should go for, well, i dont want to support people like that.

Yes a few have said that already. Not you specifically. I haven't called it anything. I said before i didn't care for playing as ellie, that had already killed most my hype since I couldn't get into the Left Behind dlc.
The leaks just made it worse and without mp, the game became a "maybe I'll rent".

Also seriously stop talking about the characters like thy are yours. The best thing about TLOU is no one is safe. They are in a post apocalyptic world where every is an asshole, and that includes Joel and Ellie. They arent heroes they are like everyone else trying to survive and murdering people in their way. Theres no motivation other than self which is to get by day after day. Having the story ripple from past to present actually syncs things up and provides long term story telling which is rare these days because a new iteration usually means a drop off of the last.
for context to why its bad, now your just cherry picking moments that leaked to declare its bad with no actual plot, story or context.
thats like me saying Citizen Kane was ass because it was leaked that Rosebud was his sleigh. However looking deeper into the movie by actually watching it and getting the story gives us the context and major monents we need to find the inner workings of great story telling of a man whose love for his mother he never lost and it made him remember a simpler time which was his childhood before the responsibility came.

Just go and take a look at Neil Cuckmann's Twitter replies. Hell...look fucking anywhere about this game. Plenty of people out there cancelling. I'm sure it'll sell fine enough regardless...but not as well as it could have.
Sony had better hope they don't lose 7m sales...or maybe not, I'm sure Sony won't miss that extra $420,000,000.

A large portion would have double dipped. So unless Sony charge for upgraded copies on PS5 the game is likely to never reach that number.

It is almost inevitable this game will get high scores, break records and win GOTY awards. Naughty Dog makes quality games that tend to attract the type of attention those three things require. Have you got any proof lots of people aren't cancelling? And no...charts showing other people preordering doesn't count. Also "minority" doesn't say as much as you think it does by the way...if 49% cancelled their preorders they'd still be in the minority.

Charts of preorders can help determine sales figures being higher than usual as well as give a hint of how many people cancel. If the game was trending bad and numbers were low then yeah the game might not sell as much as people thought, the fact its still high means the whole cancel culture thing is bullshit to begin with and it will still sell
